LOVE your HP collection VampSlayer.

I'm predominantly a Whedon collector but that doesn't stop me from having a few of the Harry Potter stuffs, spin-off books (Fantastic Beasts, Quidditch, Beadle the Bard) a Marauder's Map and the house pins... SO jealous of your excellent selection though ;)

I agree with everyone Emma was amazing. My boy laughed at me so much because I cried in the first 5 minutes when Hermy used obliviate on her parents... So emotional!

I'm seeing this on Wednesday, super excited. :D

And VS, your collection is awesome... I only have 1-7 hardcover, an HP journal I got when I was 8, and some odds and ends from the HBP/DH midnight book releases. I want mooore, though. :(

Also, above I said that Lupin/Tonks hadn't been mentioned at all, but I was WRONG. I just rewatched HBP, and it's made very clear that they are a couple. If you listen to Tonks, she calls Remus 'sweetheart'. And there are a few more little things as well.

In DH Tonks wants to tell Harry the 'good news', which is either that they finally married, or that she is pregnant. I'm much happier now that I've figured this out. xD

Yeah, I was gonna remind you of that but I didn't think to.
I have a feeling they mentioned their marriage? I could be remembering wrong.

But yeah! Lupin/Tonks were pretty damn cute...

Next time I see it, I want to take a little note pad, so I can write down my favorite clips. [image] I've never done that before, but I think it'd be... Fun? [image] I just don't want to forget something.

I'm actually kind of upset I finally went to see the movie cause now waiting for part two is going to be horrible. Definitely the best movie in the series.

I watched the sixth one for the first time this week as thought I should catch up before seeing the new one, and was really disappointed with it. Not sure whether to watch the new one now :(

It's directed by the same guy who did Half-Blood Prince, so... maybe not?

I'm going to see Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 tonight.

The David Yates entries have been the only entries into the movie franchise that I've actually enjoyed. So far, I think the general progression of the films into a darker and grittier sensibility actually matches the same progression from the books, and given the demographic I fall into, the first couple were less enjoyable for me, personally.

Best scene in Yate's latest released entry into the Potter franchise:
The hilarious/heartwarming/tear-jerking dance between Harry and Hermione. The music helped, but even as a silent moment, it was the greatest display of nonverbal acting that I've seen from the younger actors.
^^^ I totally agree with your spoiler. That was a great scene.
Much better than the creepy naked kissing scene in Ron's head. Yuk.
Definitely agree about that scene.
It really showed the deep (platonic, although I'm sure H/H shippers had a field day) bond between the two perfectly and I loved how Hermione immediately got depressed again as soon as they stopped. Emma did a phenomenal job with Hermione's despair during Ron's absence.
I've seen the movie twice now; I appreciated it more the second time around. It's really well-constructed and hits all the major plot points.

I was wondering what you guys thought Yates was doing with the Snitch. Harry "catches" it and puts it in his pocket four times during the film: when he first receives it from Scrimgeour, when Hermione tells him that they have Flesh Memories, when Harry realizes that he almost swallowed this Snitch as opposed to catching it, and once more in Malfoy Manor just before Harry and Ron stop Bellatrix from torturing Hermione some more.

It was something I was watching for the second time around, because it doesn't seem like something that would be done unintentionally. Thoughts? Symbolic of something?

By the way, the animated story of the Three Brothers was gorgeous. It ties with the sequence at Godric's Hollow for my favorite part of the whole movie. Just... guh. GUH.

I'm not sure I understand your question. :-X

Harry gets it to reveal the, 'I open at the close' message still. Was it placed differently in the movie than in the book? Is that you're question? [image] Sorry for my non-helpfulness.

No, I mean, I get why Harry has the Snitch within the context of the story (blah blah Hallows blah blah) but Yates has the Snitch flying next to Harry and then him catching it at various points in the film -- in fact, I forgot one: when he's about to enter the wedding reception/party. It's a small thing, but I was just curious if Yates was trying to hint at something besides the Snitch's actual purpose with that bit of business. It's pretty deliberately choreographed, after all.

I was wondering that myself. Maybe the digital team just really enjoyed animating it?

[image] Maybe, but it really felt deliberately placed. The second time around, I was watching for the context of the scenes in which the Snitch (in which the Snitch in which the Snitch... so fun to say :P) appears. Most if not all of them had to do with Dumbledore (at the party, Harry meets Elphias Doge and Aunt Muriel; Hermione is reading The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore when Harry figures out how the Flesh Memory on his Snitch works; and of course the Snitch came from Dumbledore's last will and testament).

It was just something that really jumped out at me as being purposeful. It's certainly something Yates would do, he's pretty good at including pieces of business from the books into the movies without INCLUDING them. If that makes sense. Which it probably doesn't.
