Maybe it could be put in the Slay the critics section of the comic, like with the other Warren-misstake.

Think it was vampmogs who officially put it out there. I think I alluded to it in my review. As for PMing Allie, I think Emmie was tempted to, but I don't know if she ever did.

I'm pretty tolerant of continuity errors and I turned a blind eye to Warren's dodgy resurrection, but this was strike two and it's getting ridiculous. It's starting to feel like Joss and Jane don't even remember their own storylines. It's just lazy. >:(

One of us should point the explanation out to him in the next Q&A.

Not sure if he reads his PMs.

EDIT- I wonder how many true Buffy-fans, whether it be people at Darkhorse or the writing-staff family or whatever, that reads the scripts before they get "approved". Maybe the people who check the script don't care or know things they way we do.

I get that they can't let just anyone read the script, but there are lots of fans who would have caught that error. Maybe Joss should hire a fan, just to check for errors?

After all, for some of us, Buffy is our greatest hobby, and we don't have much else to do other than to obsess, but Joss and the others are busy people. Apparently, they need a Buffy-freak working for them.

Or you know, anyone who just watched season 6 & 7 and remember the cliff notes. (Yes, that was meant to sound sarcastic).

With Joss, I could imagine mistakes arising from the fact that he was so distracted during season 7 with other projects... but it's hard to imagine how Jane made such an error. I mean... she wrote "Storyteller"...

I guess for those of us sitting in the audience, it's hard to visualize things from the point of view of those who spend all their time behind the curtain. To us "Buffy" is a magical show about fascinating people doing unforgettable things. To them it's more gruelling story meetings, all-nighters banging out draft after draft, network notes, 5 a.m. film shoots... and in Jane's case, Buffy was 4 or 5 series ago.

But this is something I'm not even going to try and fanwank. It's a mistake, pure and simple, and the only thing to do is fix it in the trade and then act like it never happened.

Huh? I didn't understand that sentence.

And I have yet to see a good explanation for both Andrew's and Warren's behavior. Can you give me one?

EDIT- Why did you delete the post?

LOL!:) whoops! yeah, sorry i deleted my post because (as usual) i wasn't making any sense and i realised as well that i was interrupting an active thread dialogue not a 'post a thought, come back in a week see if anyone's answered' type thread. I am sooo out of practice and now i've gone and posted here anyway.
Ok, shutting up now:)

Hehe. We all lack in the making-sense-area from time to time(at least me).

I just made a fool out of myself in a Spike/Illyria thread.

That's the thing though, I'm totally understanding about continuity errors and retcons. It's fiction, it happens. Sometimes they can even be entertaining in themselves, gives us a chance to fanwank our own explanations. But Warren has been atrociously handled in this series. I'm not one of those people who hates him being back, I actually really like him and his creepy skinlessness. But if you're going to bring back a dead character, you'd better make sure the retcon holds water and Joss didn't even make any effort. Now Jane is making more plot holes, just so she relive some silly joke from the TV show. It's just crap writing if I'm honest, and a cool villain like Warren deserves better.

(Me and Season Eight have been going through a rough patch lately but I love her really. ;))

I hope that isn't judged good enough. It's obvious to the audience that Warren has nothing to do with Jonathan's death in CWDP. More importantly, it's obvious to Andrew himself in Storyteller.

I want this fixed and not swept under the rug.

Either way, fixed, fanwanked or ignored, the misstake should be announced in the single comics, (even if it's fixed for the trade, so the single comics buyers knows that it will be fixed).

Hopefully we'll get a note from Allie in the next issue. Not a apology, but a "We screwed up"-note.

The universally accepted explanation for plot holes. If something doesn't make sense, a wizard did it. :P

It all goes back to a Simpsons episode in which Lucy Lawless (playing herself) was at a convention on a Xena panel. Fans kept asking her to explain various plot holes and continuity errors, and she finally said "Whenever you notice something like that, the answer is: a wizard did it."

And since then, "a wizard did it" has been the universal way to express the "because it's magic!" hand-waving type of fanwank.

I'll take that. In fact, I'll take that and apply it to the whole Warren's-in-Season-8 thing.

There. That feels better.

The way I like to think of it is that Warren found out what the First said somehow and was trying to manipulate Andrew. I have no idea how on earth he would have known, but that's better than accepting it for the error is actually is >.<

I completely agree with Paul that the entire Warren storyline in S8 has been handled atrociously.

My feeling is that they (the writers) wouldn't be trying to put Warren back into his human role (ignoring the entire First!Warren thing) if it wasn't for some ultimate character development for Andrew. My only hope for all this Warren fanwank is some recompense at the end.

I am simply shocked that Joss Whedon and Jane Espenson would let such a huge continuity error slip in the comic in the first place. It's way beyond my understanding.
