If you're aiming for a specific item, and someone wants it as much (or even more than) you and has more money than you do, there is no "best way". They're almost definitely going to win. 
Best thing you can do, really, is just decide, "I want something from the show, but I don't really care what that is," and just keep bidding on stuff until it goes above your price range, then move on to the next item and try again. Hopefully something will slip thru the cracks, and you can get it for a decent amount. It's tougher here because they don't seem to be putting as many items up at a time, so there's less chance of something going relatively unnoticed like that. The "Buffy" and "Angel" auctions, I remember they sometimes had like 40, 50, 60 things listed all at the same time...

Well, apparently there is an item on eBay listed as "DOLLHOUSE-IVY (LIZA LAPIRA) DOLL/ ACTIVE FILE". Some people are taking this to mean Ivy was supposed to be a doll, but the story line was dropped or whatever.
Anyways, I'm just wondering what people think about this. I know a lot of this information will be lost once the item is sold or whatever, but I've taken screenshots of the whole page and saved the images of the item to my computer, just in case they will be relevant in the future. :P

Hmmmm how interesting, yes, it does seem she may have been a doll but there wasn't time to explore that storyline. Great idea saving the screenshots just in case!

They mislabel a lot of stuff. They always have stuff listed as being in episodes that aren't the actual episode that the item is from.

It makes me wonder if the brown sweater I bought from FOX that was screen used by James Marsters were worn by him at all, since I only remember him wearing a brown sweater in First Date, and I saw another brown sweater sold after a while (maybe not from FOX) that was also suppose to have been worn by Marsters in a episode...

No. I just like collecting stuff from things I love. Dollhouse is one of my all time favorite shows, if not my absolute favorite. There really isn't any merchandise available, so a few wardrobe items are giving me my fix.
