Well, I guess I just assumed that the group leader would be a mod. The last time I used vBulletin was before they introduced all these groups and social features, so I don't really know. :S

The new features sound awesome. It also seems like a good way to bring back some older discussions and make them new again. A blank Buffy discussion board would definitely make me want to contribute to new threads.
Yes we'll be sending out a few mass emails to announce the change. The layout will be similar to what we have. A little sleeker. Donations are accepted through PayPal "Claim a Character" will be a Social Group, where the members make their claim. The group leader will keep track of checkins and free characters, and who has lost their claims. Sound fine?
Oh... So it'll actually become a mod-run thing? That's fine. I was actually kinda having running it, but whatever is best for the forum. (:
No, it can be run by anyone. Who ever wants to run the group, will create it, and manage it and it's members.
You don't have to be a mod to create groups, fan-listings, forum games or challenges!
Hopefully when the new forum opens, people will want to start up their own projects, I am encouraging that.

Good, the software of this forum it's just terrible, i'm glad we are turning into VBulletin.
One thing though, what will happen with the usernames? I mean, some of us might wanna change it, but, for example, if i'm fast enough i can register as "Hellbound Hyperion" or "Eric" (took those usernames as an example) or whatever.
Shouldn't the usernames be reserved for us who are already here?

There's no sure-fire way to guard usernames from being registered, how else would you get your name unless it's open to take?
I think everyone will be fair about it, and not steal other peoples' names. What would be the point in doing it other than spite? And furthermore, if it is to just be mean, I'd be just as quick to delete it and allow the original claimer of the name have it back.

I know the forum move is a big enough job to worry about for now... but are there still plans to eventually build Slayalive beyond the forum? I know there was movement to do this a year or so ago, and we started doing stuff like building a gallery. Is that still a long-term plan?

Actually most of the vB Publishing Suite will take care of that, with blogs, and photo galleries all in one place.
Emmie and I may also re-start our archive of important imagery and files too, so yes it's still something we want to do!

Would everyone be able to upload pictures to albums? Might make it easier and more organized if we upload all Buffy covers to one album, and Angel covers to another one, and then continue to use thumbnails for each comic issue thread. Right now, all the different covers are in different members albums on photobucket and other places, and it might be nice (specially for graphic artists) to have it all in one place. And my photobucket is starting to look cluttered with covers that I've uploaded to show at slayalive. I imagine other people have the same problem, maybe with different images as well.
Anyone even THINKS about nicking my username and I will hunt them down

Wow...I should check this board out more often.
I'm excited about the move. It's going to be weird starting over from nothing and not having the old threads to look through, but it will be awesome creating new threads and new discussions.
I didn't go through all the posts, cause I'm lazy, but do we know if the new site will go online before this site closes or after?
