www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=19882A new one-shot for the TotV stories was announced this morning. Normally I dunno that it'd fit into Season 8's forum too well but it ties directly into how Vamps are in and Slayers are out right now so it seemed the most fitting place EDIT: Solicitations and hi-res covers are out. Thanks narflet for posting the goodies. BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: TALES OF THE VAMPIRES
Written by Becky Cloonan, art by Vasilis Lolos, colored by Dave Stewart, covers by Jo Chen and Gabriel Ba/Fabio Moon.
In a small town in Massachusetts, a young man named Jacob goes about his day as usual -- wakes early, eats breakfast with his mom, and heads to school. He's a hard worker and a reliable friend to Alexia, an athletic and headstrong young woman. But at night Jacob likes to cut loose at the local arcade, where he's befriended a reckless gang of vampires who enjoy drinking his blood. Jacob craves the high and the easy escape from the monotony of his life that this "bloodletting" provides. Enter the mysterious and sultry May, who can help Jacob leave those high-school days behind -- that is, if Alexia doesn't stop her first.
40 pages, $2.99, in stores on June 3. PREVIEWSThanks AndrewCrossett and Skytte for finding the previews.

Yay! Definitely getting that, I loved both of the Tales graphic novels so I'm delighted to be getting more. It's nice that this story has spawned naturally from the events in Season Eight. I Googled the artists involved and I'm liking their cartoony style.

That's pretty cool... thanks for updating! EDIT: Normally I'd place this in the Giles' Library section, but given its relevance to the S8 storyline, I can understand why you placed this here. I'll leave it for now, and see what the other Mods think.

I'm happy to hear this. I thought the 'Tales of the Slayers'/'Tales of the Vampires' series complemented the BtVS canon very well. It will be interesting to see how a story told in the current climate of the Buffyverse turns out, especially with the recent revelation.
I hope this will be in the 'Predators And Prey' TPB.

Yeah, that would be ideal. It would be a stacked TPB, though, what with the two extra DHP tie-in stories as extras as well.

Maybe they will re-release the TotV TPB with the new story? Although Scott said this was a part of S8 too, so I guess we will just have to wait and see what they decide to do.

Cool, I really hope that it will be part of the S8 TPB, but I will still get it if it is not.

Scott Allie answered Pat's question regarding this in the Q&A:

Ooh, hopefully this means we can look forward to more TotV stories that will ultimately be collected in their own TPB down the line? Or maybe they'll just include it in a re-release of the existing TotV TPB. I'd love a big meaty hardcover that collects all of the Tales stories. I still haven't read Broken Bottle of Djinn. Kinda glad it's not being included in the "P&P" TPB. It bugs me when people class the Tales books as Buffy the Vampire Slayer titles. They're not, they're their own spin-off like Angel or Fray.

Well, it's understandable since the TPBs actually list both Tales volumes as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" on the spine, as well as their respective titles. And I think it's fair since both books cover chunks of the mythos of BtVS. Think of the Tales titles being subtitles to a franchise. Spin-off or not, they're placed under their parent title.

I concur. If by not having this "Tales" issue in the "Predators & Prey" TPB we have more "Tales" one shots, I'm all for that.

"Tales" aren't a spin-off, they have the Buffy title right on the spine. They're like a... since we always compare these to television... Buffy TV special.

I just think of that as advertising... to let people in the bookstore know that it's connected to Buffy. The official title is simply Tales of the Vampires, not Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Tales of the Vampires as the TPB would have you believe.

I don't know, dude, it's on the book. I've had books lie to me before, but most of those are written by Republicans.

I don't know, I guess you could argue it both ways, all I know is that when I read Tales, I think of it as it's own title and not some BtVS special. I mean, it has it's own logo and everything...

i was wondering, having never read the origional tales graphic novels, are they all in th epast or do any of the tales deal with buffy or frey (current/future time)? Scott said "...other plans for that " which makes me wonder if maybe they are planing a collection of storys that fit more with the current buffy themes (future/present time).
i think it woul dbe hellacool to see the new season through a vamps eyes. what with all the new slayers and such!

You have to read the stories, both the tales of the vampires and the tales of the slayers. They're great.
In tales of the slayers, one story is about Buffy and one is about Fray. And in tales of the vampires, there's a great Spike/Dru one.

"Tales of the Vampires" also has Drew Goddard's story "Antiques," which shows us all about Xander's history with Dracula. That, and the Fray story in "Tales of the Slayers" are the ones that intersect the most with Season 8.
