I just started to watch this show, and have really gotten into it, which is why I was so disapointed when Stephen was fine with Lexia's(or whatever her name is) lifestyle. I get that he can't kill Damon, because he's too strong, and maybe Lexia doesn't deserve to die either, but I was really creeped out by how Stephen was so cool about Lexia suggesting "vampyresex" with Elena (which I take to mean she meant mind-controlled, which I equal rape).
I don't want to watch a show where one of the main characters, one of the "good guys", are friends with a people who are into mind control when it comes to sex. Anyone who can tell if Stephen seems to change his mind about this, gives Lexia a lecture or anything?
This always pisses me of with vampire stuff, books, movies, TV. It seems like the good guys are really good, but then something happens that makes the good guy bad, but he's still treated as a good guy. I get why Stephen is friends with Lexia, I mean, it's not like he shouldn't be somewhat screwed up and ve fine with certain evil things, but it gives me the creeps too much to watch the show. I take it too personally when it comes to thralls and rape. So I hope someone here can tell me something that changes my mind about Stephen. I can't continue watching the show without knowing.

I think your last question was answered in last week's episode. But it probably just brings up even more questions. Like, why did she want to bind the curse, and how does this curse affect the Originals? I'm really curious to learn more about these Petrova doppelgangers too. If Elena is the second, and Katherine is the first, then I wonder who is the original? Do you think perhaps that she was an Original? PS...those vampires are hella scary. Yeah it was answered pretty quick. Maybe Katherine was an Original. Have they told us her age yet? I can't quite remember. She has to at least be 500 years old. I really like Jeremy/Bonnie & Caroline/Tyler. I wasn't expecting either of these couples to happen. The ending was very beautiful with Damon and Elena. I love that she told him "thank you" silently after him & Stefan saved her. That was a really sweet moment. I also love that Stefan apologized to Damon for making him turn. That was my favorite part of last week's episode. I love the Salvatore brother's relationship better than any other on the show. I know tonight's episode is going to be amazing. I just started to watch this show, and have really gotten into it, which is why I was so disapointed when Stephen was fine with Lexia's(or whatever her name is) lifestyle. What's wrong with Lexi's lifestyle? She drinks human blood but she doesn't kill humans to get. She gets it from blood banks. There is something else that happens involving someone close to Lexi but I don't want to ruin it because I don't know if you've seen it. I don't think Lexi meant compel Elena and have sex. She asked "Have you had sex yet"? and I remember her saying "you'll rock her world so hard with you vamp sex she'll be yours forever." I just took as her meaning vampires are good at sex. They have have stamina and so forth. I even remember Lexi getting on Damon about only being the "bad parts" of a vampire. I never took Lexi as being a user or someone that compels people into sex or to feed on them. I could be wrong though and even if she did mean it that way that doesn't mean Stefan is okay with it. He tries not to live his life that way and never claims to be a good guy. People sorta label him that. I do get what you mean with the compulsion thing. Sorta like what happen with Caroline and Damon. He was having sex with her, feeding on her and making her forget. Shows like this and True Blood aren't for everyone. You're going to have people abused, bitten and used from time to time. That's sorta what vampires do. At least the evil one's.

I assumed, since she said "vampire sex" and Stephen said "It's not about complusion, she has to want it" or something to that effect, that they both meant mind control to get sex, and to make that sex something extra. And since Stephen was "fine with her lifestyle", he's not a good enough vampire for me to want to watch the show. Not since he's suppose to be one of the good guys.
I like my bad vampire bad, and my good vampires good. I know he doesn't say "I'm a good guy", but storytelling wise, he is one.
You can tell me about what happens to one one Lexi's friends though. You made me curious.

That's where the confusion comes in with the vampires in Vampire Diaries. I don't think Stefan nor Damon should be labeled good or bad. Each do some very questionable things in future episodes. Neither are very good at all but they try to be.
It's actually Lexi's boyfriend that comes in one of the later episodes. I believe it's around episode 11. I felt really bad for him. He tries to get revenge on Damon for what he did to Lexi.

Does he get "too good"? You know, completely unrealistic 180?

Nope. Which is why I completely go back and forth with his character.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say that when i heard about the vampire diaries was in development, i thought to myself what a load of crap. And now i realise that my rabid buffy fans like this show, and has good ratings, i am now thinking about checking out this show. Do you any of you lot recommend that i should watch this show?
By the way i heard that the makers of the show were thinking about making a spin off due to its success. months after finding that out, yesterday on the internet i found out that the makers of the show are making a new series about a group of college people who explore paranormal stuff. And they also described it as The X files meets Buffy. This is a companion series to Vampire diaries, so there could be a few crossovers.
I find this funny because I always wanted another buffy spin off from joss but that isn't going to happen now. And about a year or 2 years ago i used to daydream about becoming a writer and producing my own tv series about a group of college peaple exploring paranormal stuff and now some guy is already planning the same thing, can you believe that?
Anyway, is vampire diaries about love and romantic stuff? because if it is i don't want to watch it. I'll watch it if it's creepy and very intriguing.

Vampire Diaries is by far the most consistently good show in these past two years. There is time spent on love and the romantic side of things, but it doesn't take up that much screen time overall. It also has the best pace of any show ever. Unlike every other show in like existence where a problem comes up and then would be held out for a season or at least half a season, the writers of VD introduce problems or villains and then within 1 or 2 episodes you can guarantee that problem will have somehow changed or be fixed. It's seriously the most addictive show on television in a long time. I would wager that if it wasn't on the CW this season would be an Emmy contender, but due to it being on the CW it probably doesn't stand a chance.
Seriously. Watch it. Although, from memory, I think the first 5 or so episodes aren't exactly top notch, like they're not bad, but they're a bit cheesy. After that though, the writers really figure out the feel of the show and it just becomes phenomenal television.

Thanks lightandmagic, i'll wait until the companion series gets a move on, it's because i like shows that expand and make spin offs or companions to the original show.
However, i've already purchased 2 eps from itunes and i'll be watching the first ep later on today. By the way, did you notice that one of the chicks looks like harmony and talks like her?
By the way i also heard that they'll introduce a gay character later on this season. i hope this happens and i hope it's a guy who's a badass. I appreciate the lesbian storylines but gay guys need more storylines right now.

I love this show. It gets really good around episode 6 of Season 1 and Season 2 has been amazing so far. To me it's a mixture of Buffy and True Blood with just a tiny pinch of Twilight.
---harmindervamp you may be talking about Caroline. I always thought of her as being more like Cordelia since she's very blunt and says whatevers on her mind. Where did you hear they were introducing a gay character? That'll be so cool since there isn't one on the show yet. Also about the spin off, I heard they were going to shoot the idea to the CW network. There's no guarantee that it'll be picked up but I hope it does. Its sounds really interesting.

Yeah you're right it's caroline. She looks like harmony and talks like her.
About the gay character I read about it somewhere on IMDB and then i typed up gay character vampire diaries on google and it came up on there as well.
Plus the writer of the show is gay and he promised that he would introduce a gay character.

Thanks. I just googled it and found many sites talking about it.
I agree that Caroline does resemble Harmony. Now that I think about it, Harmony's pretty blunt too. Both Kev and Julie are Buffy fans, so maybe that's where the inspiration came from for Caroline's character.

Reading stories about Kevin Williamson thinking of adding a gay character bothers me. It seems to me that there's like random gay websites pressuring him into adding one, which just forces his creativity into going a certain direction. If he already had the idea of adding a character and they happen to be gay, that'd be cool, but I get the impression he's only saying he's going to add one to appease people. I don't like the idea of adding a gay character for the sake of saying "look GLAAD we have a gay character! stop pestering us!" We shouldn't want shows to have gay people in them just to have gay people, we should want shows/creators to create the best characters and storylines they can, with or without gay characters. </end rant>

yeah i agree with you. I'd like to see a badass character on this show and then we find out he's gay like a season later.

^^ I know, it's definitely hard to find time to get into a show. I occasionally sacrifice doing the things I'm supposed to be for TV, which is so bad. Vampire Diaries is worth it though. Do you any of you lot recommend that i should watch this show? I only recently got into Vampires Diaries as I had my doubts at first, but it is very good. While romance plots are common in the show, it's not everything. A lot of it has to do with relationships between characters-- secrets, building trust, friendship, sibling rivalry, and general juicy TV drama. With the exception of the first five or so episodes of Season 1, I think the stories move pretty fast and yes, it's totally addictive. You should totally watch!

I'll admit I have a bad habit of missing the show on it's original air-date. About a week ago after missing several I finally caught myself up for tonight. I'm addicted again.
Thanks to CWTV online
