What the hell was that? thought Xander as he watched the cloud of dust formerly known as Thomas blow into the wind.

Joyce was relaxing on the couch in her living room. Buffy had said she was going to The Bronze, some teen club in town. Joyce felt uneasy about Buffy being out at night in this new town, but felt glad that Buffy had made some new friends already (Joyce just hoped they were a good crowd, and that this wasn't going to be a repeat of LA. She pushed the thought out of her mind. She knew Buffy was really trying). Still, though, this was a new environment for both of them where they did not yet know anyone, best to stay safe! Besides, Joyce had heard some rumors that Sunnydale was different from other towns, but she just chalked it up to talk. Still though, there was a nagging voice in the back of her head asking, " did we come to the right town?" She did her best to ignore that little voice, however. Since she found herself alone anyway, she decided to take the opportunity for a moment of quiet reflection. She looked around the living room from where she sat, and could see boxes that were yet unpacked, things that had not yet been arranged to her liking. Yes, she would have a lot of work to do she thought, but this was a beautiful house and she was glad to have it. And for such a steal at that! How did she and Buffy get so lucky?! And why was housing so affordable in Sunnydale? "Oh well", she thought, "no need to question our good fortune." Besides, things were already off to a great start. Joyce had spent the whole day looking around town for a gallery space, and she finally found one! It was going to take a lot to get the gallery up and running here, but as she had told Buffy early, she's trying to stay positive! Yes, Joyce felt that this place would be a perfect fresh start for she and Buffy, a quaint, little California town and a beautiful home. They were going to make it work here, she could just feel it! Joyce found a book on top of a box by the couch, she picked it up, found a stray blanket to lay over her, and began reading. Joyce always loved a good book. "I should be busy unpacking some more of this stuff," Joyce thought. But it was late and she just didn't have the energy to do anymore today. Joyce half smiled to herself as she thought, "Once I get this place decorated, it is going to be a beautiful home!" "I hope Buffy is going to be home soon," she thought. "It's getting late." Joyce went back to reading her book. Tomorrow was going to be a long day... (hope that's ok? Wasn't sure where to start with her.

As Buffy fights off the blonde, another larger and uglier vampire appears from behind her and grabs her. She tells Willow, Xander and Jesse to run and hears them obey her, though she could see from the corner of her eye that they were having to help Jesse. She fights the huge vampire as the blonde runs out and he almost bests her. Only the cross that the mysterious man gave her earlier saves her. She doesn't have time to thank him though as she runs out to find the others. Willow and Xander manage to be somewhat safe though she is disappointed to find that Jesse was missing. She reluctantly goes home and decides what she'll do tomorrow when she will have the advantage of sunlight.

Buffy stops to talk to the man of few words. She's a little frustrated with his lack of information when she has so much on her mind. "What harvest? You keep saying that but I don't know what it is." It frustrates her even more that when she has to stand and wait for his brief responses, she can't help but notice how attractive he is.

Joyce awoke early the next day. After a quick breakfast of juice and toast (coffee for her), she drove Buffy off to school. Joyce was surprised to find that the ride in the car was a quiet one. She had tried many attempts to get Buffy talking, but found that they were unsuccessful. When asking Buffy if she'd had a good time at that club last night (The Bronze, was it?) all her daughter had said was, "yeah, it was fun." Joyce sighed in exasperation. Sometimes getting Buffy to talk was like pulling teeth. She'd hoped that something wasn't bothering her daughter already, but Buffy did seem rather down this morning, as if something were weighing heavily on her mind. "Oh well, Joyce thought to herself, "I am probably just overreacting, being the ever hypervigilant mom". Joyce reasoned that Buffy was probably just still nervous about a new school. "No need to read more into it", she thought. Joyce pulled to the curb in front of the school to let Buffy out, as she had done the day before. She gave Buffy a quick peck on the cheek, and wished her daughter a good day at school before speeding away. Joyce had to hurry across town to make the early morning meeting with her real-estate agent. She was going to sign the lease for the space today. Joyce had a good feeling, she felt surprisingly upbeat and positive. She hoped the early morning traffic wouldn't be so bad as she hurried across town to the gallery spot. She came to a red light, drumming her fingers impatiently on the steering wheel. Joyce was keyed up and full of energy, enough to get her through this very busy day. She would soon be there...

Angel could tell Buffy was getting angry with his cryptics.
"The harvest is something you need to look up , ask your watcher but you better do it fast cause it happens tonight"
Buffy unlocked the gate
"I Wouldnt go down there"
Buffy shot him a look and asked why didn't he go down then
"I would but they hate me i mean really hate me"
Buffy started to walk down and asked Angel if he was going to wish her luck Angel looked down at his feet by the time he looked back up Buffy was gone....
"Luck" he said softly

Joyce had endured a very busy day thus far. She had met earlier that morning with a real-estate agent to discuss the terms of her lease agreement for the building that would now be the new home for her art gallery here in Sunnydale - and now it was officially hers! It really was a lovely space, all it would need is a little finesse and TLC to spruce it up. "I'll have this place ship shape in no time!," Joyce thought happily to herself. She was proud to be bringing a little culture and art to the small town of Sunnydale. In a strange way, she almost felt that this was her good deed as a new comer to Sunnydale. Yeah, Joyce was sure Buffy would laugh if she heard her mom say that. Being 16, Buffy didn't really have an appreciation for the art world. Though Joyce reasoned that it was hardly her daughter's fault, what with being a teenager and all. No, Buffy's biggest concerns at the moment were boys and clothes. "Ah, to be young again," Joyce thought as she chuckled quietly to herself.
After leaving the gallery, Joyce had returned home to 1630 Revello Drive. Her mind was all a buzz with ideas of how to get her newly owned gallery off it's feet! Joyce decided to take advantage of the momentary quiet in the house, it would be a while yet before she would need to pick Buffy up from school. Joyce strode into the den and sat down at the computer; one of the few items that had been unpacked right away. Joyce began perusing art dealership sites on the internet, looking for rare and unique items to purchase for her gallery. After what seemed like hours of looking, Joyce came away with a nice collection of items. She had put them on express order as well, so hopefully they would arrive by tomorrow. Yes, express order was more expensive, but hey, Joyce had to get her gallery off the ground - and fast! Fortunately, Joyce had one of those nifty credit cards that they give to small business owners for business purchases. It was a good thing, too, because being as yet unemployed, the Summers home did not have a lot of money coming in at the moment. Sure, Joyce had ensured that she and her daughter had a nice nest egg in savings. The truth was, most of the money that Joyce had gained in her divorce settlement with Hank, had went to the purchase of their new home in Sunnydale.
Joyce thought of Hank and felt a quick pain in her heart, her face fell. Suddenly, the good day she had been having was no more. Poof, and just like that all the positive energy Joyce had been feeling was sucked out of her. "Just like him to ruin my day," Joyce thought bitterly to herself. The truth was she had wanted to work things out with her husband, but that hadn't happened. "No one ever gets married thinking it will end in divorce," Joyce thought sadly. She and Hank had met in college, it seemed as if they would be together forever, but unfortunately, the fates had other plans in mind. So, pending the divorce, Joyce had ultimately decided it would be best for she and her daughter to make a fresh start. Hank got the house in LA. Joyce did not have the energy to fight him for it out of court, so they had agreed on a settlement. Besides, they had wanted to keep things civil for Buffy's sake. True, Joyce and Hank may have had their differences, but the one thing they could agree on is that they loved their daughter very much. Buffy was their world, their one uniting tie to one another, and so they would always do right by her. Joyce had never understood why Hank had wanted the house in LA, though. He was always away on business trips, so he was liking never home anyway. Joyce shuddered to think what the house now look like since she and Buffy had left. The truth was Joyce was still bitter about the divorce; to be so far separated from a man she had once loved so dearly. The thought opened fresh wounds in her heart. She would never allow Buffy to see her like this, of course; always striving to be positive and optimistic in the presence of her daughter. She had to keep it together for Buffy's sake.
Joyce stirred from her reverie. How long had she been sitting here? It felt like ages. Suddenly, the peace and quiet that surrounded the house was no longer a blessing to Joyce. She would be glad to pick Buffy up from school soon, so that she would have someone else to talk to, a distraction from her thoughts. Yes, all she would need is to see her little girl's bright, smiling face. Joyce reminded herself that Buffy was the reason she was doing all of this. Her daughter was her reason for living. The the thought made Joyce smile. No longer wanting to ruminate on unpleasant thoughts, Joyce got up from the computer chair and strode over to some stray boxes as she began unpacking them in an effort to keep her mind busy.

Buffy felt a little bad, thinking that the mysterious guy she'd been talking to had no friends and that she'd rubbed it in his face. She has to put it behind her though as she starts her way in the dark tunnel that is supposed to lead to Jesse and the vampires who have kidnapped him. Footsteps come up from behind her and she pauses to listen, not so much afraid of who is after her, but who has been stupid enough to follow her into danger. It's Xander but he explains his intense need to be involved and she feels she has to respect him for that.
The two of them narrowly escape and are heartbroken to discover that Xander's friend has been turned and will have to be killed with the others. They use their free time in the library telling Giles and Willow what happened and discussing the Harvest.

Xander sits in the library listening to Buffy telling Giles and Willow about Jesse, like they hadn't all known that they would never see Jesse again. If Xander was honest with himself, he knew as soon as he saw his friend that he was different, he should have known. They were lucky to get out of there alive. He can't help but think about Jesse, he's dead, well he still walks and talks, alot, but the friend they knew is dead. They grew up together, they made fun of one another, they hung out at the bronze, and now he's gone. He knows he will have to die, he just hopes that he can do it for his friend when it comes to it. He watches Willow take in the information. Xander realises that he's not sad, he's angry. These creature just came into their life's and took one of them, what's to stop them from taking any of them, him or Willow? Well, he's not going to sit by and let that happen. He demands that Buffy accept his help.

Angel emerged from the shadows of the library , Giles shot him a look "And Who Are You?" the librarian asked.
"The names Angel , you wont stop the harvest with the books , the masters going to send a vessel to find him blood so that he can break free and by the sounds of it it's already started"
The scoobies turned to discuss with each other and when they turned back Angel was gone

Willow looks to Buffy and whispers, "Is that the guy you've been talking about?"
Buffy nods to her, unsure how to feel about him but knowing any girl has to admire the good looks.
"It's less exciting that he always has to be the bearer of bad news," Willow admits, going back to her former mood of depression. "What are we gonna do about this Harvest?" she asks this to Giles.
Buffy simply responds, knowing it's close to time to get home and get herself prepared, "I don't know what it is, but it's big and I'm gonna be ready."

Joyce was upset. She had just went into Buffy's bedroom and found her getting ready to leave for The Bronze. Joyce had put her foot down and told Buffy that she was absolutely not going to leave the house tonight! She then confronted Buffy about the school principal, Mr. Flutie, calling earlier today to report that she had apparently skipped out on a few classes. Joyce was livid, to say the least. "The second day of school and already I'm getting calls from the principal?!" Buffy, of course, had assured her that it was not going to be like before. Joyce wanted desperately to believe Buffy, but how could she be sure? After all, if she was already getting calls from the school principal, this was not a good sign. So, Buffy was currently sulking in her room while Joyce was downstairs making dinner for the two of them. She really hoped her daughter would decide to join her, because she would feel even worse if she had to eat alone...

Buffy hated disappointing and worrying her mother, but she just couldn't tell her the absolutely crucial tasks she had to do. There was no way, even for her mother, that she could back out. Lives were at stake. She knew how she was going to get out, but she had to prepare and she had to work herself up to doing that to her mother again...

So, Joyce was eating alone after all. Buffy was still sulking up in her room and apparently had decided not to come down for dinner. She had really hoped that her daughter would have a change of heart, but obviously that hadn't happened. "Maybe I should stop wasting money on all those parenting books, they don't seem to be doing much good," Joyce thought somberly. She sat at the big dinning room table alone, finishing her dinner in silence...

Buffy climbs down the side of her house in the dark armed with only a little information about these vampires who were going to start a bloody massacre that night, unless she could stop it. What was worse, she thought as she walked on alone, that this blood bath would be only the first which would allow an ancient vampire access to the town and world.
Willow sits in her bedroom at her computer desk, staring at a blank screen. She can't focus on her homework or any of the things she liked to do online because she could only think about Buffy and the Harvest and vampires. There are vampires, she now knew, and they were planning something horrible tonight. She could be sitting there in her room, being casual and complacent and people could be dying. If Buffy can't stop it, that's exactly what will happen. She thinks how scary it is and how much she almost misses that time just recently ago, that she didn't know about vampires and could sit there without knowing. It is at that point that she jumps up, throws on some more decent clothes and runs out to find Buffy.

Joyce sits on the couch in the living room reading a book. Buffy is still upstairs sulking. Joyce considers going upstairs to talk with her daughter, but decides that it is best to give Buffy some time to herself. Joyce is thinking that she needs to put an ad in the paper and online advertising employment positions at the gallery. She can't run the gallery all by herself, after all. She's going need help. Joyce will need to sit aside a time to conduct interviews; one of the joys of business ownership. She hopes that their will be someone around here interested in working for her gallery, a background in art is obviously a plus. Joyce remembers that the art pieces she ordered will be arriving tomorrow. Joyce glances upstairs. Maybe she will peek in on Buffy before bed, "just to make sure she's ok," Joyce reasons. She hopes that tomorrow will bring an opportunity to set things right with her daughter. She returns to her book.

Oz was excited for tonight's show at the Bronze. he had dyed his hair blackish-blue for the occasion and was ready to get up and rock in front of everyone. Little did he know that the Harvest was tonight, and it could well be the end of the world.
Oz had long accepted the fact that Sunnydale was a weird place, and that a lot of bizzare stuff happened here. he had never really bothered to find out why, but he was fine not knowing.

Willow and Buffy find each other as Willow had a pretty good idea of where Buffy would be headed. When they walk up behind the Bronze, they also see Giles and Xander hiding behind a tree to determine what's going on. Both of them jump as Buffy and Willow appear behind them.
Giles tells the girls that he's been to all the doors and they're locked. He suspects the vampires have already closed themselves up inside.
Buffy sneaks in and immediately sees the same seriously-in-need-of-plastic-surgery vampire who attacked her the night before, standing on stage with a dying teenager in his arms. She saw the blood on his face as he dropped the girl and then reached out for the next, drawing Cordelia up on stage. While she went for him, she kept an eye out to see that the others were doing as she'd asked them to.
Willow stands outside with Giles and Xander while they get one of the doors open. They immediately hear crying and Giles steps in just enough to get everyone near enough to see him and to lure them out. Willow watches as people start to come and her and Xander go in with him to usher people out the door. Willow wonders why she is afraid but not afraid at the same time. It seems to her as she helps a girl out the door, that what she is doing is so important, it never occurs to her to not do it or to run. And so far it also seems to be going well. Maybe she's more cut out for this kind of life than she thought.
I hope we can get some of the others back into this. Looks like me, Natalie, Kellie and Just Willow are all who are playing right now...
