Amazing. Absolutely amazing. I can't describe how much I've missed these characters. My favorite part has to be the Xander and Buffy discussion, it was great seeing them together again. Giant Dawn, fantastic. These new Slayers seem interesting, I want to know more about the governments role, the demons looked cool, I love the art, and of course, AMY! I am DIEING to find out who she was keeping alive, and also, who was that in the air looking down at Buffy and the other Slayers..... Hmmm........
Can't wait to see more Scoobies!

No clue who was looking down at them...
I BET ONE MILLION DOLLARS that her "boyfriend" is either Adam resurrected or Caleb back from the dead!

One Million Dollars huh? I have absolutely no idea what to expect, there are just so many possibilities.

Either that or it's a Ressurrected Jonathan. I can't think of anyone who would have still been in Sunnydale during it's collapse.

Hmmm..... if you're right, I would love to see Adam again.
And another thing that's gunna be bothering me, "There's nothing I can do till we can find Willow." FIND Willow?! Must know what that means!

I frakking love this issue. I love this whole season. I was skeptical at first, but the dialogue and the smoothness of it made the season for me. I can't wait.
Favorite line:
I laughed out loud in the car when I read that. It was great. The whole thing was great. I really loved the whole issue. I've read it three times now.
Hm, I wonder who was floating outside the castle. Male, female? Did Giles get a power upgrade?
I'm betting Willow is in Brazil, and lost contact with the gang while in the jungle. Those jungles are tricky.
The Amy thing was unfortunately not a surprise. Those at 'Fugs spoiled it for me because they failed to mark the thread with a spoiler warning.

I don't see Caleb having a girlfriend. At all. Um he doesn't seem to take to women nicely.

Oh man...the comic shop sold out (they only got 5 copies), and Nate (my comic shop guy) pulled mine first b/c he knew I'd beat him up if I didn't get a copy.
How much did I love giant Dawn?? Maybe this season...more people will start to like her. I mean...there IS more of her to love...and the whole, 'I know she slept with him...since when is Willow an expert on sex with guys' thing...that was funny. Buffy thinking about sex, too...that was funny. She misses sex...but sex with whom?
Hmm...that's a good one to ponder.

Loved it! I managed to get the variant (it was in my pull box) I wanted to get a reg. cover too however, my shop SOLD OUT!!! My local shop NEVER sells out of any issues...I was shocked! Guy said people are comming out in force to support this comic. As far as who is Amy's boyfriend...Don't think it's Caleb cuz he's kinda in 2 halfs. I'm going with Adam...in the recent issue of Wizard they interviwed Joss, BKV and Jeff Leob about the series. Joss expressed much dissapintment in the way Adam was handled and wished they did more with him. Hmmm? And the floating figure...I betting on a new character! Definately seems related to the marks found on the body. The worst part of issue #1...waiting 29 more days for #2 Oh...and about the "sex" with whom question...depends does she mean "that sex" generaly/ambiguosly like: "Boy I sure do miss that beer" like an alcholoc may say...or like ..."Boy I miss that beer (like a limited edition brew that is no longer made." (sorry I love me some of that beer ) Either specific or general??? She either misses sex in general or misses the down and dirty stuff with Spike...Joss did say she did in fact love him!

I got mine today! I got the last one, and it sold out in all of the other comic book stores in my city almost instantly.
I LOVED it, omg. I'm SO pleased. It's Buffy. It's really Buffy! THE BUFFYVERSE LIVES!!!
I loved everything about it. The writing was perfection, I laughed and I gasped, it was awesome. The art is great! Better than I expected. And I'm very interested to find out who this "boyfriend" is! And who that person was floating in the sky. Hmmm...*rubs chin*

I read it today and thought it was OK. I miss the Tv series, plus it sucks that it takes like a month for the next issue.

Well I know it's early days yet, but I'm not at all impressed with what I've seen so far.
I absolutely loathed the whole 'Buffy meets Nick Fury' vibe Joss has given this comic. Somehow it doesn't seem very 'Buffylike' at all.
I mean the whole 'Chicks with guns' thing at the beginning shouts fanboy cliche' to me at least. Pull down half a dozen other comics off the selves and you'd see that sort of thing going on, and probably better done too. And Giant Dawn? Oh for god sake give me a break.
But after saying that this first issue is only the 'scene setter' and so there's enough time left for things to improve.

Yeah it does have a comic-y vibe. But we have to remember that it's a comic, not the show anymore. I feel overall that it was short. It felt like I read one page and it was done.
The stage is set. I hope with the next issues it will get deeper. Which I am sure it will. Joss did X-Men wonderfully. Buffy is his baby, so I am sure it will be done right.
To the ones who are miffed about the guns, government and stuff. What did you think was going to happen?
What is going on is the next logical step for these characters. They created a bunch of slayers, they destroyed Sunnydale. They had no other choice but to organize themselves and change location. Giant Dawn is something that the show would be able to do because of budget issues. Otherwise I am sure we would have had "The incredible shinking Buffy" in an episode already. They are not in Sunnydale anymore. They can't simply run around the town in cemetarys every night anymore. Times have changed.

I got my issue today I did like it, but I felt it was too short, it didn't take much time to get through it at all. I do like that Amy is back though, and I'm really interested in seeing who her boyfriend is. And as for Giant Dawn, I thought that was hilarious. I really cracked up when I saw that pic of her, hehe. I'm very very interested to see what Faith has been up to so I hope we see her in the comics soon. -Jess

I'm the happiest girl in the world! I received my first season 8 issue in the mail from the BCC today. I didn't expect to get it for a week or two, so this is beyond cool. The BCC rocks!
I actually started to cry when I first started to read it. BUFFY'S BACK!!!!!
I LOVED this issue. I have to admit that I don't read comics at all, so I don't know who Nick Fury is and have no comic book context for the whole chicks with guns thing.
However, I didn't think that Buffy would be caught dead in that outfit. It didn't look like Buffy anyway, so overall I wasn't feeling connected to the main character as being Buffy. Hell, Buffy is perky even when she's fighting or depressed, but we didn't see any of Sarah's trademark smart ass smirks or that cute sparkle in the eye as she's kicking ass. This Buffy is far more dour and put upon. Even when Buffy was depressed, she still had a spark about her when she was in battle.
Otherwise, I'm happy with the whole thing. I think the Xander likeness was decent, though Xander from season 1, not season 7. He's all thin and streamlined now.He looks good. Shame about the eye.
I was thinking it was probably Anya who survived the Hellmouth, so it's interesting that it's Amy. I wonder if she has any additional powers from being there when the Hellmouth closed. I wonder who or what she's sleeping with. My first thought was an Ubervamp. I sure as hell hope it isn't Caleb. Ick. I'd rather see her with an Ubervamp.
It seems like Riley could clear up this whole thing with the government. I mean, the government knows Buffy saved their butts before with Adam and the 314 project. And they're fighting demons on their own, so it's not like they would think that everything was about terrorism in that reality. Terrorists aren't as scary as demons or as common. I'm hoping that it's Riley hanging off of a helicopter coming in towards the castle. Or that Spike or Angel has learned to fly! My first thought was Spike, because it appears that the bottom of his trademark duster is in the frame.
My favorite line was when Buffy told Dawn it was her own fault that she had become a giant. Dawn: Kenny never said he was a thricewise. Buffy: I said he was a thricewise. Leah said he was a thricewise. Giles said he was a thricewise and he only ever met him over the phone!
LMAO. Awesome. Classic Joss/Buffy hilarity.
I hope Buffy gets some of that sex she so clearly wants. It's cool that it's narrated so we get to see what's she's thinking.
It's so amazing to be talking about a Buffy episode again. YAY!!!!! Can't wait for Willow and Giles!

Haha. I love that line too! For some weird reason, I don't even know if it's supposed to be funny, but my favorite line has to be from the Slayer, I'm guessing Rowena(?), but anyways after they kill the demons and you just see her hanging there with that look on her face and says, "Dat Vent Vell."
For a non-verbal moment, I have to go with Buffy stuffing her face with a sandwhich.
