Hi, I was wondering if anybody knows of any comic-con-esque events (featuring Buffy and Angel things) that happen in the UK? I've tried searching but i don't know where to start
Thanks

I don't know of any that are really comic-con-esque, but Hallowhedon 2 in October is probably the biggest convention with Buffy and Angel (also Dollhouse and Firefly) at the moment. And I can tell you from experience that it's a lot of fun.
There's also a Dollhouse convention called ECHO-1 in May, if you're interested in Dollhouse aswell.
These are both in London, which is a bummer. But if you live close to or are in London I suppose it's not much of a problem.

Hallowhedon but it is in london. I live in Birmingham so it'd be too expensive for me to go. Edit - grammar.

There are signing events run by Showmasters - They have multifandom guests, which sometimes include whedonverse . Usually lots of dealers too so it's a bit like Comic Con - The big name guests sometimes have talks and photoshoots depending on demand. More on them here www.collectormania.com/ You'll find all the links to their specific Fandom conventions which includes Hallowhedon 2 ETA Just checked Starfury Site (They are doing the Dollhouse convention) and I see he has recently added new guests to his 'Vampire Ball' in November - now Christian Kane, Juliet Landau, Julie Benz, Clare Kramer, Dayne Johnson and Georges Jeanty have been announced to appear. www.starfury.co.uk/

Thanks to thedothatgirl for mentioning the Vmaprie Ball, it looks really good but now my budget demands that I choose between that and Hallowhedon . . .

I caved and decided to do both although they are close together timescale wise. You never know when you might get a chance again to see these guests.
If you check out the forums for either con there are usually people looking for roomies that reduce the cost. Also you don't have to stay at the Convention hotel. There are a few to choose from around those Conventions which are cheaper (and sometimes better) than the Thistle.

I'm going with my girlfriend and we're staying at the Heathrow Lodge (I think that's what it's called), quite near to the Thistle. Wow, jealous you're doing both! I've never been to a convention before.

I've never been to a convention before. Yeah more money than sense. I'm afraid I'm hooked. The first one I attended I had no idea what I was doing but it was such an amazing line up and HUGE event I wanted to keep going. I only will do ones where Whedonverse actors are appearing though. I don't have the level of enthusiam for other shows right now. If you want any tips/advice or help just pm me.

I know the feeling. The Whedonverse is my number 1 obsession.

15 Conventions and 8 signing events. I only go to the signings if there's a whedonverse guest that I want to see. Sordid details and photos are here : www.buffyandangelart.co.uk/Face2.htm I would have done more but there were a few that clashed with real life.

Yes hopefully you'll be able to get there EvilWillowRocker.
They tended to leave many guests to the last moment last time. I hope they don't this time round - it was extremely frustrating. That said - if they announce a big fan favourite then tickets will sell quick, like when James signed up.

I say we try amd get some Birmingham based conventions! Agreed! I know that there have been Supernatural and Torchwood cons here in Birmingham (JM was actually scheduled to go to the Torchwood one, but he had to cancel due to an injury).
