The ratings were even worse this week without the Olympics. I don't get it. I always thought this was one of the biggest shows on television. Also, I haven't really liked any of the last few episodes. No tense, nervous, or excited feelings like I had during Season 7 and the beginning of 8. Just... boring. I've liked almost all of the Jack and Renee aspects, but I've lost interest in everything else.

Bachelor finale. The hype/public interest was huge for this season and the finale because of all the scandals.

*Yawn* I'm not a big fan of the past couple of episodes either. It seemed a little out of character for Cole to suggest dumping the bodies, but since we haven't had that many opportunities to see him in action, I guess it's not entirely out of the question?
The boy with the bomb looked like he was 15. "If anybody asks, say I am a doctor." Um.... ok Doogie Howser..."
I didn't really start to get into it until the last 5 minutes, so hopefully the next ep will be more engaging.

My bf is a huge 24 fan but hadn't had chance to watch Season 7 before Season 8 started, so episodes of season 8 are now taking over our sky+ box!! He is going to start getting through them this weekend so will hopefully catch up soon. He loved season 7 after not enjoying the couple of seasons before quite as much. I have never really gotten into it, but was tempted to watch to see what Freddie was like in them

There's a lot going on in 24. Live are in jeopardy. Guns will go off. People will die. Clocks will tick. The drama is building after the first set of episodes!
And yet, somehow, I just can't seem to care.

I think I forgot to watch the a couple of episodes because I lost interest too.I really wish they'd do more with Cole. I'm sort of glad I tuned in this week though. Tarin's fake double cross was unexpected.

Whoa! I didn´t see that twist coming. Dana being a mole working for Samir The final minutes of the last episode really left me mouth open How do you like it?

I like the twist. While it doesn't excuse some of Dana's more outlandish actions (the robbery), it makes her switch to wanting to just kill Kevin more believable. When she started strangling the parole officer I thought she had simply finally snapped. I'm looking forward to seeing where they go with this though. There hasn't been this high profile of a mole inside CTU since Nina Myers.

Really loved the twist. Makes everything we've seen her do a lot less pathetic. Can't wait to see where it goes, especially when Cole gets involved. One of them is gunna kill the other, I just know it.
After a lot of mediocrity, I've really been enjoying the last two episodes. Hope it keeps up for the rest of the season.

Yeah, the movie's been finally getting fast tracked the last few months. I'd imagine the screenplay is all but finished by now. I'm excited to see how this turns out.

Yeah it is very sad. I loved Renee, and I was really hoping that she and Jack would get to be happy at the end of the season. Great episode though (written by David Fury, btw), this season has really kicked it into gear over the last 4-5 episodes. Also, I am stoked that Logan is back. Gregory Itzin is such a great actor, and Logan is one of the series' best villains. Cherry Jones has also been hitting it out of the park these past few episodes, her presence was sorely lacking in the first half of the season. I'm glad the Russians appear to be the ultimate Big Bad's of the season, as they were heavily involved in the show's best seasons, imo (Season 1 and 5). Oh and I added a spoiler tag to the thread title, so you don't need to use spoiler tags in your post.

Ugh. I've been expecting Renee to die pretty much all season, but after the close call last week I figured she'd be safe. Ugghhh, Poor Jack. And who didn't love Renee?
I agree about the quality of the last few episodes. So, so good.

So we are down the torture road again. I don´t know what to think about it. I liked the season so much because it was going along without it (except Renee´s moment going dark with the russian guy early in the season).

So it finally comes to a close. I have to say I wasn't really satisfied with how it ended.
Everything seemed to pick up for me up until the ear biting scene where it felt like it went down hill. For starters, I always thought of President Logan as too much of a cowardly character to ever go the suicide route. So for him to turn the gun on himself felt like a let down. And that recording that Jack went through so much trouble to make became quite insignificant. I would've preferred if Taylor exposed her involvement and the Russian president's involvement in the conspiracy at the UN meeting, and then playing the tape, or having her refuse to sign the peace agreement, and cutting to her turning herself over to the attorney general. All that talk about releasing the info within the next hour seemed kind of moot. This is the last hour... so.. yeah. I realize they wanted everyone to go out with their dignity intact, but it felt rushed to me.
And then President Taylor telling Jack to go on the run, just seemed like a cheap way to end the series. Not that I advocate killing the hero, but it felt like the show only wanted to go half-way with everything. Either Jack goes after the Russian prez and he deals with the guilt, or they figure out a better way to get him out of the country. Seeing drone footage of Jack wandering out of a Brooklyn warehouse was anticlimactic for me.
On a positive note, I did enjoy his final goodbye to Chloe. Chloe will always be my favorite.

Wll, I think the show tried to walk the line. To create an end, that isn´t really an end. Howard Gordon had to face the difficult taks to end the series and give it a certain conclusion on the one hand, while on the other hand he had to leave room for the movie. I guess that´s why everything felt kinda half-way.
So, with that in the back of my mind, I really like the finale. The final goodbye was to me the conclusive moment. I felt as well, that everything felt rushed, especially concerning President Taylor but I think you nailed the reason why.

Could anyone please help me?
I found a statement by Howard Gordon which said they´ve had a saying: "Not good, never boring". What does "not good" mean? Good in terms of "Good vs. Evil"?
I don´t understand the first part of the saying. Is this common sentence or has a common meaning? I´m not from an english speaking country, so I would be very pleased if someone could explain it to me.

Can you provide the context of the statement? Was it an answer to a question?
