Hee, see how I timed it so I could post this on the day that "Rebirth" was posted online? I'm clever like that. Who's watching Caprica? It's pretty awesome, let's just say.

I'll be watching that later on today, I think. Anyway, found this AfterEllen interview with Sasha Roiz, who plays Sam Adama on Caprica. Click HERE to read it. Some minor spoilers about character dynamics.

I've been catching up on shows recently (just finished 5 episodes of Heroes), and this is next on my list. I can't wait to watch it!

I'm definitly going to watch this as soon as I can (I hope they air it in Sweden sometime soon).
I wanna see James in action(even though his character's name is making me laugh). Did he get a lot of screen time in the first ep?

James, as in James Marsters? I don't remember him being in the two-episode pilot. Could be wrong, though.

imdb.com says that he's in Rebirth, the 1 ep(not the pilot). It says the air date was 29th January.

I think Hellbound Hyperion mentioned on another thread after we went on a lengthly Caprica tangent that James Marsters will be playing a terrorist in the first season. But nope, he wasn't in the pilot episode.

I tangent? I never notice. Yeah, James will be in the first season. I don't recall seeing him in Rebirth, but then that was a very hectic night of television so I wasn't paying super-close attention. I also *ahem* forgot he was going to be in Caprica at all, so I wasn't looking for his delightful cheek bones. <_< I'll be re-watching it tonight, along with the LOST premiere and catching up on House and Big Bang Theory, so I'll look for him. Can I just say - Bear McCreary. Bear effing McCreary. Music god of the gods.

I read on whedoneque he was going to be a dangerous leader of a monoist world or something.
So I guess he could be a terrorist.
Monoist=believing-in-one-God (I can't spell it)

imdb.com says that he's in Rebirth, the 1 ep(not the pilot). It says the air date was 29th January. I just watched the episode and I didn't see James at all. And I was actively looking for him, so I'm pretty certain he wasn't in this episode. Those cheekbones! I would recognize him. Is this the first time we've seen the opening credits? I really love them. And the music too. Regarding Amanda Graystone... I don't know what the woman was thinking-- admitting to the world that her daughter was a terrorist and caused the bombing. I can understand why the writers would do this. It would make Avatar Zoe feel like she really doesn't belong in this world and maybe do something drastic like join up with STO.
In a sense, I guess she feels like she didn't understand or know her daughter at all, but to publically announce it at a memorial service seems over the top, imo.

Yes, because the pilot usually doesn't have an opening credits sequence. And to reiterate: Bear McCreary, music god. You should check out his blog - he goes in-depth into the making of the music for each of the shows he does. Because he's that awesome.

What the hey!? I recognize this blog... from TSCC! Although it's been a while since I've visited. I wonder if he's worked on any BBC series or is a fan, because the music is eerily similar to the themes from North & South. -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=mn7cQZ0FO7AAlso, did I hear a terminator reference? Amanda Graystone says she saw this guy in a movie once (referring to Avatar Zoe's cylon body). Meh, I chuckled.

I just got caught up on this show, and "frakkin' frak"! it is awesome!....Frak, they use "frak" a lot, don't they? haha.
I'm really liking the show so far and it's great to see that the show has not only one, but two queer characters...Holy Frak!....I'm just so hoping Sister Clarice Willow doesn't end up being a bad guy. She is beautiful and i'm totally intrigued by her and i so have a crush on her. Lol, oh and how awesome is that her last name is Willow! Frakkin' sweet!!! ;D

2 clips and 7 screenshots, as well as an episode summary available on Comics Continuum. CLICK to see them. You'll have to scroll down a little. ETA: This bit stems from the whole BSG virgin bit, but are all these planets/worlds/colonies named after the zodiac? I mean, at the moment, the three names I've heard are Caprica, Gemenon, and Tauron... which all sound zodiac-ish to me. And is there supposed to be a significance of some sort in terms of the associated traits with each colony? I could probably Wiki this, but I'd rather hear it from a fan's perspective.

Yes, the planets are all named after the Zodiac. The planets don't share many traits with their associated Zodiac names, but they do each have unique traits that set them apart (for instance, Gemenon people reject all forms of modern medicine; it's part of their religious beliefs).

Thanks for that. So... Jehovah's Witnesses then?

The planets don't share many traits with their associated Zodiac names, but they do each have unique traits that set them apart (for instance, Gemenon people reject all forms of modern medicine; it's part of their religious beliefs). Thanks for that. So... Jehovah's Witnesses then? That would be the metaphor, yes. Only a couple of the various races were featured on BSG, but the retrospective film The Plan mentions some of the more prominent features of each planet in passing. Plus, we've heard a little bit about Tauron and its properties via the Adamas (and I'm sure we'll get more as the show goes on). In BSG it was more difficult to do stories about race because, well, with only 50,000 human beings left, are you really going to be so petty as to hate someone just because of their race? But in the pre-holocaust era that we're seeing here in Caprica, there are obviously some tensions. Adama changing his name to Adams certainly mirrors the experiences of Irish immigrants to America. I'm really curious as to how far they'll run with it here. I also wonder about the phrase "so say we all". First time it's used in Caprica, it was used by Zoe & Friends as a sort of unity phrase, which we're supposed to assume comes from Soldiers of The One. But the phrase was used by all the polytheistic humans in BSG and no longer had associations of monotheism. So, I dunno, maybe STO is less radical Islam, more radical Judaism? Christianity certainly took a lot of pagan dates and rituals and reinterpreted them to make conversion easier. Maybe the same thing happens here, trying to force STO/monotheistic believers to return to the polytheism of the rest of humanity. But now I'm just musing. At least I know I'll have lots of essay material by the end of the first season!
