*crickets chirping*
So wasn't Friday's episode great?! Tamara Adama's avatar is still there! Zoe's avatar wants to go to Gemenon!
Also, don't you love the TV bits they play? Just adds more layers to the culture of the worlds. So great. Also notice a continued boxing motif - one memorable episode of season three of Battlestar Galactica featured a night of boxing and flashbacks to fill in some holes concerning the past year (the season two finale jumped forward a year, leaving character journeys a bit unwritten for the moment). Calling it right now - Joe or Sam Adama vs. Daniel Graystone. Epic.

Ok, what does Sam say about Larry when he says "all you do is ______ "? Sounds like "spiddelyodzane" or something like that.
I was thinking his husband was names Zhane after that, but no its Larry. I love this scene.

I love this scene. Sounds strange, maybe a Tauron word for something? I, too, love this scene. It's refreshing to see a homosexual character on television that isn't stereotyped or caricatured. And it's an ADAMAAAAAA!!!

I'm about to watch the first episode. I love me some BSG so I hope I'm not disappointed with Caprica, but I get the feeling that I won't be.

I've been watching this and I like it so far. Some things are a little annoying. They use the word Frak, ALOT! I thought the whole public annoucement by Zoe's mom was way over the top as well. I am interested in what they have planned for Tamara's avatar. I am also excited to see James on screen again.

You don't like that? It's their catch-all curse word.

You don't like that? It's their catch-all curse word. I don't hate the word. I understand it's meaning and all, I just feel like they force it into conversation alot.

That depends on who you talk to really. I guess it just sounds strange b/c they do not use other "bad" words that often, so it seems like they force their own made up word into dialogue more than necessary. That being said, I do not hate the word, I just had a mild criticism on its usage. I love the show and will continue to watch it no matter how many times they use "frak"

But it's kinda like how the characters of Firefly all uttered Chinese curse words... it's a characteristic of the universe. If "frak" is the catch-all curse word, then it would stand to reason that it's used a lot more.

If "frak" is the catch-all curse word, then it would stand to reason that it's used a lot more. Indeed, and it has an unusual history. One of the most memorable moments of BSG S2 is when Callie, in an attempt to get Chief Tyrol to talk about his grief, suddenly yells, "TALK TO ME YOU MOTHERFRAKKER!" and then the two of them bust out laughing. "Mother frakker?" See, it implies that the word "motherfrakker" isn't used as much, or perhaps is more vulgar than any normal use of the word "frak" (Colonel Tigh and Starbuck both use motherfrakker sparingly later on in the show). I always really liked that moment, not just because it makes for the perfect cell phone text message ringtone, but because it implies a linguistic history of the word "frak" that gives a little more texture to the universe at large.

Hm, I'm always the last person to post right before I have more relevant things to say. TV GUIDE scoop! Will we ever see the world of Battlestar Galactica come crashing into Caprica? — Tally MICKEY: I will bet you one meeellion cubits that we will. Caprica executive producer Jane Espenson tells us that the new show will address the overlap through the backstory of the Final Five, who, as you remember, started their "lives" on Caprica. "If you actually do the math, the [human-Cylon] war starts about five years from where our characters are in Caprica," Espenson says. And what's this? The producers have already contacted Spartacus' Lucy Lawless about reprising the role of D'Anna on Caprica. Watch your back, Eric Stoltz! ZOMG D'ANNA COMING BACK?! I'm in love. <3

Finally watched the third ep... I keep missing it on Friday, so I have to wait until it's released online on Wednesday. I'm growing less and less sympathetic with Joseph Adama... the man is beginning to encroach on "thug" category, whereas his brother, the actual thug is beginning to become more sympathetic to me, since he's the one stuck with the job of executing his brother's wishes. Gah!

I'm really liking Caprica, but I fill i'm getting left out of a bigger story because I haven't seen BSG. Do i need to watch that before watching this to understand it more? Or is it just the minor things that i'll miss? Such as the whole "frak" usage, which looks like only the BSG fans would understand.

Nope, the show is completely independent of BSG, other than the fact that it takes place 58 years before BSG. But you don't need any prior knowledge of BSG to enjoy it.

Here's a James quote about Caprica from this interview www.scifi.co.uk/blog/buffy-the-vampire-slayer/being-spike---an-interview-wit/"I know that you're working on Caprica right now. Can you tell us how that's going and how you got the role? I got the role because Jane Espenson asked me to do it. Jane was one of the writers on Buffy. And basically if any of the wirters on Buffy call me I'll come. I want to get back on that mountain top, I feel like I've never really been on that high altitude since Buffy. So Jane called me up and said they needed someone to inject a little danger. I watched the pilot of Caprica and it was so dangerous I had to turn it off. It was too scary for me. I'm not easily scared, but I've got two kids and there were issues that were raised about adolescence that I found too uncomfortable. But at that point I became an addict. Basically, Caprica is a very mature rumination on why our culture is about to explode. It's an issue we don't want to talk about but if you examine where we're going it's not good. I think it's very brave. I wonder if the audience is tough enough to watch it. But I think it's a worthy risk." I guess I'll see if it's that strong when I watch it (assuming the pilot that's aired is the same James saw).

The pilot that was aired had some touch-ups but is otherwise what was put out on DVD a year ago. So yeah, it should be the same. It's interesting to hear it from him, how he has two kids and so watching the stuff about Zoe and Lacy would be hard for him. It's an intense show, no doubt.
