Who do you think was the saddest Angel Death? Doyle-This was definitly the saddest of the deaths for me...I totally was not expecting it, I was a really big shipper of Cordy/Doyle, and I watched it late at night and couldn't stop crying Darla-Sacrificing her life for her son. That was pretty sad- but it allowed her to end her life with a selfless act. Which, for the life she led, it allowed her to go to heaven anyway. It was a brave and great last act Lilah- Killed by 'Evil Cordelia'. Wow. I did not see that coming, and although she was a villain with not a lot of good in her, it was a sad death. Wesley having to cut her head was pretty ugly and her ghost was creepy. Cordelia-Wow. She was the most changed character in whedonverse, in my opinion (under Wesley and Willow) having changed from the selfish bitch to the selfless caring hero. Her death was expected, but it was still a sad loss. The fact that she never got to get together with Angel was also sad and the last kiss and "Your Welcome."...wow. Fred-I feel heartless for saying this, but I didn't cry. I love Fred, but I'd had this spoiled for me before I even saw the Pyleah episodes, so I was expecting this. The fact that she was the most innocent character and never did a truly bad thing in her life and was the one who had to die...it wasn't fair. And her last words, "Why do I have to go?" as she died in Wesley's arms was one of the saddest scenes in all of Whedonverse. Wesley-Wesley also didnt make me cry- because I was fairly sure that his death was what his character wanted. He didn't have any true friends, or didn't feel he belonged with them. He had finally gotten with his true love and she died. Then to make it worse, her body remained, as a reminder or what could have been. He had nothing left to live for. Even so, his dying was depressing and fairly unexpected.

Doyle because he was such a great character and wasn't in Angel all that long and sacrificing himself was just really sweet.
Fred because i loved her she was just so funny and cute and i'd been wanting her and Wesley to get together and they what? half a episode of togetherness and then she dies and it was a slow death and it was just really sad that she died in Wesleys arms.
Wesley because he was one of my favourite characters in buffy and s1 of angel i hated him then i started to like him alot and he was just a really sweet guy but i think he sort of had to die because his death made the most impact like anya dying in buffy. if gunn would of died it wouldn't of been sad.
Cordelia i was never for cordy and angel together but the scene were they kiss and then she dies is heartbreaking because she is such a huge personality and it's really sad when she dies and then there are fred and wesleys death just after aswell
The woman in are you now or have you ever been i don't know why but it was so sad

This was hard. When I first saw this thread I thought Fred's hands down, but then I remembered Doyle and Cordelia and then clicked on the thread and got reminded of Darla. *sighs* With Doyle I cried when I first saw it I admit, but when I saw the episode a few more time the sadness went away and was replace with proud cause he was being so heroic. Lilah was a shocker just cause at the time I thought WTH is Cordy doing. It didn't really get sad until Wes had to chop her up. I felt more bad for him though. I didn't really have time to feel sad for Lilah cause I was a little pissed she was killed off. As well as Lindsey's death. I was hoping maybe he start to be on the good side possibly, but we never known cause Angel had him killed by Lorne at that. Cordelia there was no sadness really cause I knew it was coming somehow. I did feel sad for Angel when he got the call. This is another death that pisses me off. Cordy shouldn't be dead. Darla death was actually just so beautiful to me honestly. This was a evil vampire dying so her child can live and so her child won't have to be exposed to her evilness. That image of all of them in the rain is so heartbreaking. Wesley's was so heart breaking. Having Illyria change into Fred and watching her holding him in her arms broke my heart. You're right he was ready to go and it's a shame. I'm starting now to get really annoyed that so many members Angels gang died. Wes was the brains. What's he going to do without him. After all that rambling turns out that yes indeed for me Fred's death was the saddest. I mean I was seriously falling apart through all of A Hole in the World. I just kept thinking there's no way Joss is going to kill her to. It broke my heart when Angel and Spike realized there was pretty much nothing they can do with out consequences. When she asked Wes, "Why can't I stay." *sigh* I can't go on any longer.

In order...
Fred, Wesley and Doyle
Fred was tragic. At least Wesley was never really happy and was nothing but miserable after Fred was killed. The only reason Doyle is third is because we didn't know him long enough and also because it was one big heroic moment. I'd hate to take that away from him.

Each main character’s death was really sad and powerful scene. I felt so sorry for Doyle, Wes and Fred... But my favorite ones were:
3. Lilah. Not her dead exactly, more so her afterlife. Wesley trying to burn her contract and she telling him she is trapped forever was really sad. 2. Darla. Nothing much to add after the posters above. Really sad, selfless, tragic and heartbreaking.
1. Cordy. She has always been my second favorite character after Angel and I was incredibly sad to see her go. Her final goodbye with Angel is my favorite scene from any tv show.

When I saw this thread, I immediately thought: Wesley's death. It was such a sad and tender moment. Unfortunately I was interrupted watching it by my Buffyverse-ignorant girlfriend.
Fred's death was also tragic, but at least she has an afterlife in Illyria, even though saying this is kind of stupid since Fred's soul is gone.
Cordy's death didn't have such a sting, because I had written her off long before. I was just glad I could see good old Cordy again in "You're welcome". Though I appreciate the growth of her character, I much preferred fun, sassy, shallow Cordy of Buffy and Angel seasons one and the first half of season 2.

That's true- a lot of the deaths were more heroic then sad (mainly Darla/Doyle) but that doesn't mean I still don't miss the character. It was a great way to go- but it's sad that they had to go at all.
Sorry, how did I forget Lindsey? His death was not particularily sad for me because I was still pissed off at him for coming back, pretending to be Doyle, and just causing mayhem. But it still was kind of sad for him that he got killed by the least-violent and agressive A.I Member. It was so not-epic that it made it an epic-death. But I think Lindsey was ready to go too. I wasn't really sure what his purpose of coming back was (besides revenge) and he needed to go.

It was very strange to have Lindsey killed by Lorne - a straightforward humuliation. It was one of Angel's low points and gave some fascinating food for thought. Reminds me of Willow in TOYL: that it depends on WHO does the killing.

I have to go with Fred for Saddest death. Doyle and Wes were pretty heartbreaking as well. Lindsay's death really PISSED ME OFF. lol It was one of my least favorite moments of the show and one of my least favorite things Angel did. But it didn't really make me sad... I completely agree! Love your icon and banner, btw.

Fred, by far. Though, Darla's got me all teary, especially the reason why she sui-staked. Also, Lindsey's made me both pissed and horribly upset, because I liked him quite a lot.
(I suppose these results are bit biased, because I was spoiled for all the deaths, like I am for everything ever[/b]. Damn the internet!!)

The two saddest for me were Darla and Fred. I cry every time I watch their death episodes.
Also, and this is not so much sad as something that I've been thinking about because of Daniel Dae Kim on Lost,...Gavin, killed by The Beast, and then coming back as a zombie. Reanimated as a zombie and killed a second time just seemed like a pathetic way to die (twice). Well, to me, anyway.

Fred, for sure. Her death was so slow, and we had to watch her suffer. <3 Doyle's was also a sad one, as was Wesley's. And Darla's was so sweet.

Cordelia for me, always. Every time I watch the final scene between her and Angel, I feel like I wanna tear up cuz their story together ends on a very sad note, especially since they never got to have a chance together. Her final line and Angel's in that episode makes my heart break

I have to go with Wesley because it was so sad to see him go and the way Illyria let Fred shine through just made it ten times sadder! but Fred comes by a huge second for me!
