I haven't finished the fourth book yet. I have been reading it for months but it just isn't holding my attention at all, like I have to force myself to read it, if that makes sense? New Moon was my favourite book, but only because Edward was hardly in it

Glutton for punishment much? Wait... so there's only 1 female werewolf? Do werewolves just breed with regular humans then? Do they need to bite a person to infect them? Are children born werewolves? Why only 1 girl?! It was revealed in the 4th book that the werewolves aren't actually werewolves, but shapeshifters. The gene is passed down through generations, and usually just in males. Leah was the one exception in the books. And yeah, I wish I hadn't even bothered reading past the 3rd book as the 4th was one of the most anti-climactic pieces of crud I've ever read. I gathered that much from Wikipedia, but still... it's bad genetics at play... especially since she randomly inserts a female shape-shifter, which essentially indicates that the genetic explanation is crud.

Also, Leah is sterile, so her genes can't be passed on. I think she might've been Smeyer's half-assed attempt at a strong female figure? Still, she's better than the majority of characters in the series. For the record, Breaking Dawn is my favorite, just for the sheer ridiculousness factor. I was laughing the whole way through.

Btw, is "imprinting" supposed to be as creepy as I think it is?

Btw, is "imprinting" supposed to be as creepy as I think it is? More of a soul-mate thing than a brain wash thing I believe. At least that's how it's written in the books (although it did sound somewhat like brain washing at first, but it seems to be true love, you find your mate, and you're "complete".)

No, I understood that it wasn't "imprinting" in the sense of Dollhouse's imprinting. But just that notion of looking at someone, and making them pretty much yours... that's just kinda wrong. I get that it's supposed to be a true love thing, but true love (if you buy into it) requires that both parties be entirely cognizant of their decision, and not just because one party decides to brand you with their own brand of sex monkeyness. I read that a way to dodge that bullet is to say that the "imprinting" need not necessarily be sexual, and can just mean that the person will always be important to the other, but still... ack much!

And in the fourth book, Jacob imprinting an uncute, creepy vampire baby is ten times creepier than it sounds.

I get what you meant, I guess I should have said "love spell" instead of brain washing. It can seem like they're barinwashed, since the two people who imprint on each other can't be happy with anyone else after having meet, and they experience the world in a different way, like the other person is the meaning and center of their universe. It has the same effect as a love spell would in a another verse.
And from what I remember, one person didn't imprint on the other, they were both helpless to the imprinting. When they meet they "fall" for each other, without either having a choice. It's not like a thrall (I get why you thought that, since it's a vampire book, and many vampire's books use a thrall, or claim plot where the vampire "brands" their "loved one"). It's not a decision, and it's not the same as ordinary love, it's like they're ... I guess I beed to re-read the books to find the words.
Anyway, imprinting isn't always seen as a bad thing by the wolves in the book. Some wanted to find "the one" and be happy (I think I remember Jacob longing for that). Sam and Leah was dating at first, but then Sam meet this girl, and they imprinted. They were both sad for Leih's sake, but they couldn't help it.
