I find it interesting that I'm all ready to discuss this issue but no one really is talking about it. It's kinda funny that IDW is throwing out 3-4 Angel stories a month and Dark Horse's sole Buffy series gets all the buzz. That just goes to show that Joss's involvement matters.

Alot of the people who read the Angel title want to discuss the gripes of the lack of joss's involvment (myself included) if it makes you feel any better jay.
The inside joke is that in order to have gripes you actually still have to spend the money to buy the book and read it in its entirety. That I find funny considering if people don't like it they could o idk...not buy it lol.

Well I buy it because I have a disorder where I need things to be complete. So I would go nuts having After the Fall, but not acquiring the rest of the series. And I actually do read it in its entirety even though I hate what I'm reading. I'm just tired of discussing Season Eight. I'm just tired of Season Eight period. So the last Buffy issue involved her boinking Whatshisface. I'm over it already. I want something new. At least reading IDW's Angel instigates some sort of freshness and a reaction, even if said reaction is negative.

Well, I finally got it today...not really pleased about it, which is kinda sad. After the next issue, I'm just gonna give up the Angel series, it's getting that bad. Laura reminds me a little of Black Widow and a living demonic library?? Honestly, what the frak is BW thinking?? Does he even think at all?? Gunn acts like a complete child, Connor acts a bit like a douche and Illyria? Oh god, she's frakked up now. Im disappointed. And Gwen Raiden? Well, nice outfit. I don't think her hooters were that big though Disappointing

I doubt anyone will mind the huge hooters night lord lol . I mean it is a comic. In fact that might be a requirement .
I also love how we've yet to see resoltuion on the whole connor /Gwen thing especially since this arc has been Connor centric.

Also, another thing, Illyria's skin isn't green or whatever colour it looks like in the comics. Her skin is actually white with faint blue marking. Had to get that one out As for Gwen and Connor, maybe she'll show up in the next issue...or not, seeing as how Connor knows Illyria wants to seduce him *grimaces, then vomits*

He's becoming quite ther player with illyria and gwen after him or at least gwen was after him, his demon babes, and Dez if you count when he made a pass at her in Aftermath.

I just hate that Connor seems to be the rooster in the henhouse. Frankly, it's disgusting. Okay, I can manage to get over him and Cordelia as she was possessed by Jasmine and Jasmine just only wanted to give birth to herself. But, seriously, how can one explain the rest of the women? He hooked up with Gwen, then after breaking up with her she became Little Miss Stalker. Now Illyria wants to bone him. Also, BW portrays Kate as having "considered" being with Connor. Major ew.

Very true as far as the story goes it feels like they're trying to make it a sitcom where everyone gets with everyone at some pt. I will say if Connor were real I doubt that'd be the worst thing for him especially since he likes cougars.

I know its kinda 'in fashion' to hate Willinghams run at the mo but...I'm kinda liking it:)
I re-read all 5 issues in one sitting the other night, and as a story it reads well. Yes, the trouble he had getting the voices in the early issues still jars, but as a story it reads like a solid season opener. (Although in my nerdiness I have put 'Boys and their Toys' combined with 1st part of Only Human as the season premiere of 'Season 7', followed by Music of the Spheres (and the conclusion of Only Human) as Episode 2 and Immortailty for Dummies as Episodes 3+4 - totally my own organisational system:))
Liked: - Angel out of the bloody coffin:) I like how he dealt with Roman, I could really hear Boreanaz say the lines in my head. I enjoyed his reaction to Laura, and Illyria's suggestion about snapping of Roman's fingers. Very 'Angel' his reaction;pretend to let her do it to freak out Roman. I will really miss Denham on the art - apart from the HULK!Angel, he really managed to capture Boreanaz' likeness. I'm sure Casagrande will do a great job, but Denham is the only artist apart from Mooney to really nail the likeness. I have no idea why he isnt doing it anymore - but I hope he returns sometime.
-Laura Weathermill. I just like her character. I'm sure there is more to her than meets the eye. She deceived Immortality Inc...and I'm sure she will deceive Angel Inc. She shot dead some gypsies and (offscreen) some witches, effectively murdering them. So she ain't squeeky clean! Am looking forward to seeing more of her.
- Eddie bumping into Gwen was fun. I'm sure she will be brought into the story again at some stage; this isnt just a one off I presume. I am just itching for Eddie to properly bump into the gang. With Gunn having left, I think that is how he meets Eddie next issue.
-I liked the scenes with the gang - I thought the Gunn/Connor scene was good dramatically. Obviously Connor would still hold resentment about VampGunn killing him, and he cant seem to differentiate in his head that it wasnt really Gunn that killed him...but a twisted vampiric Gunn. So it's understandable...but a little unfair.
Disliked
-Having said I liked the Gunn/Connor scene I did have a big problem with the fact that Willingham seems to think that the events in HellA 'didnt happen' - they certainly did! In the 1st Eddie Hope back up the bar guy said events in Hell "Didn't happen" only to be corrected by Eddie who insisted "I was there".
So I didnt understand why here he has Gunn saying they were "imaginary". I could understand if his argument was that it wasnt him that did it, but the VampireGunn....but not sure why he is saying that the events didnt happen.

Whether that was on purpose or I'm just taking it that way is debatable but if it was intentional that'd be saddening because Only human did alot for Both GUnn and Illyria's Characters post ATf.

Ya that was strange. Gunn was all about taking responsibility - which would be a much more interesting story. Now...maybe theres more than meets the eye..but at the mo it doesnt seem that way.
At least they addressed the Gunn/Connor relationship!

Well next month he bumps into Eddie Hope (I think - it might be the month after), so I don't think he will go missing for long.

I think by 'HellA didn't happen' they mean that it didn't... But it did. It happened in between moments, and only they can remember it. There's really no other proof of HellA ever existing, then in their own memories. To anyone outside of LA, it didn't happen. In a way, I agree with the term, 'It didn't happen', because it didn't... But it did.
