I just read all the solicits up to this point. I'm drooling. Are we about to hit a serial story stride?

Pretty spoilerish pics for eps 2.07 and 2.08 can be found HERE. If you've read the plot summary, it may not come as much of a surprise.

This was probably the most exciting episode yet.
Alpha's return definitely didn't disappoint. "Blast"... poor Matt. The scene where he confronted Paul was also a favorite. Nice to see some old characters, espescially Joel. He just pulls at your heartstrings. What Echo did for him, and what he did for Echo was just so great to watch.
Loved the Echo/Paul/Boyd/Topher conspiracy, those are always fun. Some great action too, best since Man on the Street I think.
UGH! The end is so soon.

First of all... yay to more Greg Laswell. That's his cover of "Your Ghost" played at the end of the ep. Some may recall that his song "Sweet Dream" was also used in the ending montage of "Man on the Street", the other ep featuring the Joel Minor character. Loved the sensitive quiet moment amidst all the plot-centric craziness; allowing a character to finally deal with his wife's death, and what it means to be moving on.
Secondly... holy crap. We're flying full force towards the post-apocalyptic future glimpsed in "Epitaph One" here. From the tech, the moral conundrums, to the Topher/Adelle relationship... it's all twisty, and hell, we all know it'll end painfully there.
So... Paul's out of commission for now. Interesting. We know he comes back, so heh... never quite a worry there. What was interesting was watching Adelle playing the bad guy here. Even more so to see her being forced into the submissive secretarial role at first, watching her resentment bubble over, as well as her desire to take control once more, and the lengths which she's willing to go to to reinstate herself. Her betrayal of Topher's trust, and her cold admission that she cares for him were moments of brilliant acting. So cold, and yet fragile at the same time. While watching this ep, I was struck by how different this Adelle is from the woman she once was. Her desperate bargaining with Alpha was such a far cry from who she used to be. She's been moving towards this for a while now; the last time we glimpsed her ruthlessness was in "Belonging"... S2 is shaping up to be a beautiful collage of character moments, and I'm really wishing that S1 had done more of this. It wouldn't have won viewers over, not the casual ones at least, but it would've been so much better than the smattering of "meh, okay" eps in the beginning.
Things are set in motion now. Rossum now has the tech that Topher designed. Topher's little toying about will now have serious implications. Oh, and 23 Dollhouses are established at the moment... finally a solid figure. Also... will Sierra be shipped off to Dubai, or has that been averted for now, with DeWitt back in control. Hmmm... don't think she would disobey a mandate coming from Rossum, especially given her current predicament.

If it had the character moments before it might've been able to hold the audience from last season that would've have given us a season three, though.

"Kids playing with matches... and they burned the house down." Another beautifully crafted episode. I really love Topher and Adelle, they have such a naturally complicated relationship and it's just always evident when they're in scenes together. Can't wait for next week!

Wow... big trade-off here. Adelle became a much more interesting character in this episode... and I find that I don't like her, at all. Not even a little bit. Time to come to terms with the fact that she's just not a good or honorable person. Kind when convenient, and willing to sell out anyone at all to save herself.
Presumably all Dollhouse employees have their personality imprints on file, so if Paul recovers they should be able to give him his mind back... but he will have forgotten everything that happened after the imprint was recorded... meaning everything that happened between him and Echo.
The world needs more Alan Tudyk... he's a way more convincing villain here than on "V", that's for sure. I'm not sure what happened there at the end, though. Did he intend for Paul's personality to take over? Did it really, or was Alpha just trying to manipulate Echo? And why did he just get up and leave?

Did he intend for Paul's personality to take over? Did it really, or was Alpha just trying to manipulate Echo? And why did he just get up and leave? From what we've seen before, Alpha doesn't really have control over his imprints. That's where Echo surpasses him. In the last season, he was shown to be rather schizo with all the personalities yammering at the same time. Meaning that it's very possible that the Paul imprint just took over for a second. As for why he just got up and left... well, he had his answer. Echo loves Paul. From the way he looked, I think Alpha finally got it. He didn't need to to understand what Echo loved about Paul, just that she did love Paul.

Agreed, Alan Tudyk is awesome. I liked Adelle. And all the mysterious betrayals and secret plans... oh la la. And is it awful that I smiled when I saw Paul go down? It was just so typical Whedon. Kill someone off at the peak of their happy relationship... So familiar, you know? xD But we all know that he lives, right? Because of Epitaph One?

Is anyone else dieing to see the full Bennett/Caroline memory?! I wonder if they'll show it later on, when Bennett returns... These episodes were great. I think I enjoyed last week a little more though. Alpha was totally awesome, no question. Adelle is a full-force bitch now. Paul can finally not annoy me for a little while. I really didn't mind Paul until tonight, he just seemed to not shine to me. Idk. I didn't like the three month gap... Or how Alpha just got up and left. I wanted Echo and him to go full-out on eachother. I really loved the scene with Alpha on the roof. That part had so many good lines. ^^ Hmm, I take it Sierra is safe? She won't be shipped off to another house?

I think it's so funny that we're supposed to feel bad for Ballard! I was like YAY! finally the most boring character in the history of the Whedonverse is gone (for a while at least). Wish he was proper dead. Great episode also!

It seems as though Alpha is the composit, whereas Echo is moving toward something more than that, the thing Bennet spoke of before: A harmony of different minds. It's perfectly in character for Alpha to piss off once he's lost control anyway. He'll be back lol.

I'm not one of them, but there are fans that like Paul (I'm totally whatever about him, but I did feel bad about what happened to him). And I've even seen fans who want he and Echo to end up together, believe it or not. So I'm sure those people weren't happy about what happened to him, lol.

I've hated Paul the majority of the show, but he was redeemed somewhat last night. Yeah, he's obsessive, that's more than clear. He deserves credit for denying Echo's advances though, for real.

So... thinking about it, I think Tudyk has been replaced as best performer on this show so far. Seeing his Ballard impersonation, I cannot help but be struck by how much more Enver nailed his Topher-isms, from the get go.
