Great trailer, overall. It overused the 3D adverting, just as the posters have been doing, but I liked it. I laughed at the Pig Masked figure grabbing an audience member, though. Gordon was in it! For a millisecond of new footage! -Squee- I'm so excited.

If you enjoyed the first two, Saw III is a must watch. III is probably my favorite, actually, and it has the best ratings on review sites, I believe. The first three are definitely the best, but the others are still decent enough to watch. Totally agree with this. The first 3 are the best and the 3rd is my favorite! I loved Amanda! lol But yeah, can't wait to see the final chapter!

My review. The spoiler filled parts are in the spoiler tags! Saw 3D. My first time viewing a Saw film in theater, and sadly the last time (So I've been told). My overall opinion of the series finale is positive, but there's some things I wasn't too thrilled about. For those curious: I actually really enjoyed the 3D. It wasn't overdone, and it fit the tone of the movie. There was a few times when blood, or other items, came out at you, and each time I smiled. This film managed to use 3D the correct way. One scene in particular stuck out to me; Not because of the 3D 'fly outs', but because of the way the 3D beautified it. If you have a chance to catch this in the 3D version, do so. I mean, the title of the film is Saw 3D after all! The return of Dr. Gordon. I was so psyched for Cary Elwes' come back, and while the film managed to give me what I wanted, I was left wanting more. It felt as if I had only been given a taste of what should have been a whole. Besides the limited amount of screen time the doctor got, I loved where the series took him. Elwes acted the few scenes he got perfectly. And truthfully, he is what made the final scene golden. Without Gordon/Elwes, this film wouldn't have been the same. Thank goodness we got our doc back, just in time! Mark (Badass) Hoffman. While I was never a big fan of Hoffman, the ending of Saw VI got me to really see him for what he was: A badass. I'll never enjoy the guy for his personality, but his ability to just manipulate and kill as he does is enjoyable enough. Hoffman spent a lot of time in the shadows, popping up every so often in videos or flashbacks. And somehow, his presence can always be felt. Eventually, the guy's plan kicks into full motion, and he really takes off quickly, giving us what we want to see: His badassness. And trust me, we get to see Hoffman at his best. The hardcore Hoffy fans will not be disappointed whatsoever. Jill Tuck. I've always had a thing for the girl, and her sexy appearance sure doesn't hurt. Saw VI left a lot open for Jill, yet the writers didn't seem to grasp all of her potential this time around, sadly. She's seen throughout the film, but never doing too much. My main problem with her is this: Jill was way too helpless and needy. The first thing we see Jill set out to do is get protection from the police, which is expected, but that's pretty much all she ever is involved with. Fast forward to the final ten minutes, and she finally gets some action. (Hurrah.) Jill manages to actually fight back against Hoffman, somewhat, but not enough for my liking. I think we needed more 'Jill vs. Hoffman', than 'Jill runs/hides from Hoffman.' Bobby Dagen, the new comer. While Bobby isn't one of my favorite lead characters, he isn't my least favorite either. His story is easily interesting, and I'm glad it was shown, but I think it was focused on a bit too much. The outcomes we get from his tests are repetitive, and the traps themselves even got a bit too much alike, yet they were strangely enjoyable, and cringe worthy. While I complained about the repetitive factor, I enjoy it just as much! The whole point of Bobby's testing is to show his true colors, his weakness. The film captures his situation perfectly, and it's different from any other. We're left feeling just as Bobby is. Hoffman vs. Jill: Final Showdown. We knew it was coming. While I don't feel like Jill deserved to die, I loved her death. Hoffman gets his revenge, and it was in the most obvious way... Yet the most unexpected way as well. (Doesn't make sense, does it?) He easily manages to overpower Jill, and place her in an almost identical Reverse Bear Trap scene from Saw VI. As she is strapped down to a chair, Hoffman sets out to grab the RBT 2.0... But decides to use the original RBT! A great throwback to the first film! I smiled so, so big when Hoffy's eyes slid over to the original trap, and reached for it. My mouth dropped, in an excited way. From the moment the device is placed on her head, we all know it's over for old Jill. As the 60 second timer counts down, we get to see quick flashes of Jill's time in the series, which I think it great. She deserved that final goodbye. Just as the timer hits '0', Jill and Hoffman's eyes meet; A great moment. Followed by an even greater moment: We finally see the RBT go off! And it's pretty nasty, in a good way. (Poor Jill!)
The final twist. Hoffman's had his revenge, and sets out to flee the city. He burns down his base of operations, and stocks up on bunches of money. As he walks away from his exploading building, Hoffy is attacked by not one, but three Pig Masked People. Just as he overpowered Jill, they easily overpower the great Hoffman, drugging him in the process. It's revealed that the leading Pig Maskee is Dr. Lawrence Gordon himself! (The other two are not revealed.) Hoffman fades out, and we get a series of clips following Dr. Gordon, showing some of his time Post-Bathroom. (John congratulating him, nursing him back to health, giving him a prosthetic foot; Gordon going back out into the world as a new man; Assisting John with medical traps; Suggesting Lynn as John's brain surgeon; Writing the 'I know who you are' note to Hoffman; And lastly, recieving Jill's package delivered in Saw VI. The package is a video tape, and it contains John instructing Gordon to take care of Hoffy if he harms Jill in any way.) Bright lights flicker on, and they cause Hoffman to wake up. He's chained within the legendary bathroom! (John's video tape suggested that Gordon lock Hoffy within this place.) As the lights continue to flicker on, we get an epic collection of past scenes within the bathroom. Hoffman realizes what is going on, and tries to reach for Gordon's old saw (the one used to cut off his foot), but it slides out of reach. Dr. Gordon, limping/using his cane, slowly comes over, and picks up the saw. (We see him remembering the item, showing flashes of him sawing away at his ankle via flashback.) He slyly grins at Hoffy and states: "I don't think so..." The doc chucks the saw out into the hallway (shown in a very cool 3D move), and turns to leave the bathroom one final time. Hoffman screams out to him, angered: "What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" Gordon glances over at his rotted, cut off foot, and then back to Hoffman as he turns the lights out. "Game over." He slams the bathroom door shut, leaving Hoffman screaming as the credits roll!
While I summarized the final scenes above, I must say that I loved them. I loved the Gordon twist, even though I had been expecting it over the years. This series could not have ended better. There's just something really, really epic about a limping/cane-using Gordon locking Hoffy away forever. And Elwes plays his part amazingly. Every line he says is spot on, and just plain epic. (Yes, epic will be used a lot for this ending!) Now that it's over, let it stay over. It ended on a high note. I'm happy, and I hope all the fans are as well. I give this finale a 8/10. Pros: - The 3D - Dr. Gordon! - Hoffman's Badassness - Jill's Amazing Death Scene - The Irony of Bobby's Test(s) - Mallick(/Brit) Confirmed Living - The final twist
Cons: - Gordon/John had limited screentime - Jill was way too helpless - Bobby's tests got too much alike/repetitive - Not many flashbacks - No mention of Gordon's family - Adam was not mentioned whatsoever - A few flaws in the overall plot involving John giving Jill a 'way out' (Why did he even involve his wife in the task of killing Hoffman in the first place, when he had Gordon all along?) (My personal order of the series: 1. Saw II 2. Saw III 3. Saw 4. Saw VI 5. Saw 3D 6. Saw IV 7. Saw V )
