I plan on seeing it opening day with my family. Let's see how that turns out. Really excited, as it looks amazing. Loved the first one, and I think this one will be better; The characters being added are great choices.

The one thing I'm bummed about is how they've replaced Terrance Howard so quickly after the first one was released. I hate it when actors get replaced for sequels. But other that, I'm really excited about this

But other that, I'm really excited about this I don't like replaced actors either. My biggest issue is that it takes the 'reality' out of it. I mean we all know it's fake, but it's easier to believe when it's always the same actor. However I like both Terrance Howard and Don Cheadle so it's not like there is someone I prefer, I just always like all the actors to stay the same. Does anyone know why the replacement happened?

First off, I hate it replaced actors with a passion, so I'm right there with you. Secondly, I believe it's been said that Jon Favreau didn't enjoy working with Howard, so they replaced him.

Well I'm gonna disagree with The Night Lord. This was a complete train wreck. Nothing made sense, nothing was explained and the "action" scene's were god-awful. Not to mention so short it was ludicrous. Black Widow had absolutely no reason to be there and her fight scene's are a mess, you can't even tell what she's doing most of the time. Scarlett looked good though. ;D Gwynetth Paltrow was also looking good. I've never liked her much, but her Pepper Potts is really fun. Too bad she did nothing in the movie except clean up after Tony and become a damsel in distress. There is absolutely not tension; at no point in the entire film are you worried about any of the character's, or give two seconds thought to the "villains". You don't care enough to superficially hate them. And the 'final confrontation' with Iron Man and Whiplash is a joke. There is nothing to spoil because there is no story. You can't even enjoy it as a mindless action movie because there's hardly any action in it. Watch the previews, pretty much every action scene is in there. Every bit of social commentary and character subtext we get from the first Iron Man (at least from it's first 2 acts) are gone. Questions of governmental interference raised at the beginning of the film, are forgotten fifteen minutes later and then used for comedy at the very end. The only reason this film is watchable is because the actor's are so good. RDJ can pretty much do anything on screen and you'd be drawn in. All I can say is that if this is the benchmark they set for the Marvel film universe, Joss should feel absolutely no pressure about making The Avengers.

Well it seems there are pretty opposing views. I haven't seen it yet, but I hope it's good, I really loved the first one so here's hoping.

Yeah, I've decided to lower my expectations before seeing it next week. Now I'm not expecting it to be just as good as/better than the first, but I'm still hoping it'll be good entertainment.

Good thing I lowered my expectations, because I thought it was awesome. Not as great as the first, but it's almost just as good.
While light on action, I was never bored. The cast just worked so well together, the way they played off each other made every scene a joy to watch. Robert Downey Jr., as usual, is amazing. Sure, the story was nothing special, but it wasn't bad. I expected some sloppiness based on the reviews, but didn't notice anything that took me out of the moment. It seemed like a half Iron Man sequel/half Avengers prequel which was neat. I give it an 8/10. Great fun.
And the scene after the credits? Epic.

The film was great I thought. The plot is a bit messy but I don't mind sacrificing that clarity for all of the brilliant character interactions. I actually loved that the action scenes were so short in most cases too, because I much prefer hearing these people talk than seeing them fight. Quite an achievement for a comic book film.

I enjoyed it a lot, but I didn't expect it to be ground breaking cinema. As for the scene after the credit: I thought it was cool, but my wife was like, "I waited for that?"
