Hopefully with her cameo in the backup story we'll see her return to the main story in some way.

Well, Betta George is easily the best comic introduced character, IMO.
But I really love Beck, Non, Jeremy, ect. Jeremy was awesome in AtF, but he seemed very out of character in issues 26 and 27.
Eddie Hope seems pretty cool. And Ive seen little of Laura Wethermill, but she seems like an interesting character.
I still hate Dez and James, though I should probably try to get over my Aftermath hatred.

For me Beck is the one who stands out the most, and she also seems to be the most developed. I also really like Non and Tok as well as the Mosaic gang.
Laura Weathermill and Eddie Hope seem really cool, but I've just dropped the Angel Series (at least the individual issues) due to its crappyness, with its emberrasing dialouge and characters who don't behave like themselves. I sticked with it through Aftermath, which I absolutely hated, and I don't wanna waste my money on another arc of Willingham's run.
Dez and James seem to be a complete waste to me, and in order to make me really like Betta George, he need to be fleshed out more.

Funny you should say that because up until issue 33 I wondered why Willingham brought them in on his story neway and they've sort of revealed stufff about James which has reinvigorated the story with a bit of freshness. If you weren't a fan of Aftermath you'll be happy with issue 33 because it retcons some of its badness.

I would have to say Laura Weathermill and Eddie Hope. Dez is OK and well, by now, those who are caught up in the Angel comics knows about James, so I don't think people will complain. Dez's story just needs to be more explored. Introducing new characters and not ultizing them to support the story won't win them any fans. So I hope that doesn't happen to Laura. Would love to see more of a story for Kate and Gwen.

It would be cool if they made the issues bi monthly like some other titles who need more pages to tell their tale. I think If they did we'd have a better chance of having more characters fully explored.

I might give the series one last chance, but I will wait for hardcover # 8, and then make the decision. But the wait will be longer than before

You might be waiting for awhile then. Hardcover 7 with the first five issues of Willinghams run will be out in July though.

Not that I don't enjoy them but there are too many now. The Lorne one was the best, imo. They can start with Kate, considering she was re-introduced in First Night during Connor's perspective of his experience during the Fall. I'd like to know why she came back and what she did since leaving in season 2 of Angel. As for Dez, her origin and reasons for coming to LA/Hell-A were told but she still needs resolve to the problem of searching for her sister. Expanding upon that wouldn't be too hard. Before I would just wait as usual for the next issue of Angel, now since this latest issue, I can't wait to see what happens next, just like I felt while reading ATF.

Dez was absent from issue 33 (the latest issue), maybe she searches for her sister during her spare time. She didn't make it seem like it was a priority in Aftermath more just something that she had to do eventually.

Sorry, I'm still hating on Dez and James here. But truth be told, I'm hoping Dez vanishes, and James gets killed.

Yeah - it sucks a bit, but on the other hand IDW won't take people's complaints very serious, if people keep buying the series, which I have done up until now. I own issues 28-32, and I've been just as angry when reading these issues as I was during Aftermath, so it's time to take the consequences, even though I'm curious about the future of the title. Well I should stop hijacking your thread for my complaints about Willingham, so it could go back on track But thanks for letting me know, that my opinion of James might be 'outdated'

Maybe it won't make you like him any more or less but it's a very unexpected twist.

It definetly adds some New Character Cred to James that he has multilayered Villain potental. I think that makes up some of the better New characters. That they have levels like we see in our favorite original characters. The difference is we've had them for years and Know alot about the old characters, but having new ones with layers gives you something to look forward to as their mysteries unravel.

I completely agree. New characters have mystery to them. It's up to the writers(Willingham) to unravel them to their abilities. I sure as hell didn't like Wesley when appeared on Buffy and Fred as well in Angel season 2. Yet, we all know how amazingly those characters developed and progressed.

I've got to agree here- Dez + James= Rubbish I am quite liking this Laura Weathermill girl though, hopefully she'll steal some fo their page-time in future issues

I just hope her transition into Team Angel is more natural because it seems like they've been trying to force her into the group rather than let it happen naturally.

Exactly! Most new characters do have some degree of potential - they just need to be developed and have a role in the stories, and the responsibility must first and foremost belong to the writer that introduces each new character; since he/she has to give each new character a voice and personality, so other writers will have something to work with. The problem with both James and Dez was that Armstrong introduced them as "these-new-characters-with-really-cool-powers", while she did not exactly give them a place in Angel's team; they were part of it, before the characters would have a chance to get to know each other. And because of that the reader and/or other writers don't know what to think of them or do with them. Weathermill has already left more of an impression than Dez and James did throughout Aftermath and Immortality for Dummies, and she has just been introduced. Also the writers need to remember that it is not about the page time; we don't get to know or like the characters just because they are in loads and loads of issues. They need a place in the story; otherwise they should be left out until somebody really wants to use them. A lot of people have supported the return of Kate, but they will get tired of her, if she does not do anything in the story sometime soon, and the same goes for Betta George. There's nothing wrong with focusing on a smaller cast, if the cast is too big to have everyone do something in the storyline - this should be the strenght of not having actors contracted to be part of every episode.

Totally, agree.
I'm a big, big, big Kate lover. Always have been. Was so psyched for her return, but so far... eh.
She's been out of character. (Calling Connor 'Yummy'?! What!?) And hasn't done much... At all. Sadly.
