So I'm in the middle of watching the 3rd season of Mad Men and once I'm finished that I'll have nothing to watch unless it's rewatching and I would like to try a new TV show. My favourites are: All of Joss Whedon's The Big Bang Theory V Sex and the City Friends Gilmore Girls Mad Men How I Met Your Mother Ellen Ally McBeal There may be a few more, but I was wondering if any of you nice people who may watch some of the same shows or not have any suggestions for me to start watching. Thanks

well i love Friends, How I Met Your Mother and Joss Whedon's shows, and my current favourites other than those are . . .
True blood- It's like a darker version of Buffy with a hot, fanged Viking Outnumbered- This really funny British show about an just average family, but the children (particularly little Karen) are unscripted and they're SO funny. This is a short clip of her, it was the best I could find on youtube: (I don't think it'll offend anybody but if it does sorry)
Glee- Needs no description, it's like marmite- love it or hate it Priviliged- About a Yale student who goes off to be a tutor to two spoilt twins by the beach it's a lot like a combination of Gilmore Girls and Sex and the City so I think you may love it as much as I do, however I will save you the disappointment and break the news to you now- it's been cancelled after its first season. So don't go in expecting a long-term relationship. Still it's funny and light-hearted.
Hope some of those helped. I particularly recommend Outnumbered, it's so funny, seriously.
Edit: I found another good video of Karen from Outnumbered:
Enjoy!

Omg Billie Erin! Those clips for Outnumbered cracked me up, so I went on youtube looking for more. I have GOT to see this show. But I doubt it is/will be on BBC America. I don't watch much TV except for True Blood and Mercy. Mercy:Mercy is an ensemble drama set in the fictional Mercy Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey. The show focuses on the lives of three nurses. Veronica Flanagan Callahan is a nurse who has just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, while Sonia Jimenez, her best friend, has become seriously involved with a police officer; and Chloe Payne[played by Michelle Trachtenberg], a recent nursing graduate who is thrown into the world of nursing and is unprepared for what it entails. That's all I can think of. Sorry I can't be more help.

if you like action/drama, you might like the shield. a bit more adult than 24, but still it's excellent writing. the 1st season is a little slow, but season two blows season one out of the water. other great seasons are 4, 5, and 7. but overall, i live the show 4.5 out of 5 stars.

WyndamI can't believe I forgot to put Bones on my list! That show is awesome. SpikeObsessed Thanks! I certainly love it. I actually think most of the episodes are on youtube, and if not they will porbably be on American BBC, they got a prime-time 9:30pm slot here in the UK so they're one of the BBc's best shows. If all else fails I'd ask for the Box Set as a birthday present, it's so worth it

Well, I think many of us here have similar tastes in TV, so I'd just like to say that I'm on a serious Battlestar Galactica kick right now and I'm sure that Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles is to follow.
And when's Caprica coming back? *pouts* So few good sci-fi shows on the tubes these days...

if you can find it anywhere, i suggest a tv show called Dead Last (Like ghost whisperer but much better) it was canceled after just 13 episodes.

You should definitely watch Freaks & Geeks cos it's awesome. Plus, Jason Segel from HIMYM is in it.

Thank you all so much for the suggestions!
I have been very interested in Battlestar Galactica however when I try to watch in online and go to the first episode it has a 'previously on battlestar' beginning and I'm like what? I thought this was the first episode. Does anyone know where I can find it right from the begginning?
There are a lot here I'm going to try out. I did leave out Glee and Tru Calling as my favourites but I do/have watched them as well.
Thanks again!

Battlestar Galactica started with a mini-series, which should be watched first.

I would recommend:
- True Blood - LOST - Glee (Maybe, if you're into that kinda stuff.)
I watch very few shows, as I'm very picky. I've also been looking at these recommendations, and I am planning to watch Battlestar Galactica soon! I'm currently working on Six Feet Under, which is an amazing show. I've only watched the Pilot so far, but it was amazing. I loves me some drama.

I second Billie's recommendation for Smallville. It's awesome, maybe not the most intelligent show, but good fun with amazing actors, it's main strength really lies in its' cast.
That 70s Show is always good for a laugh, very good writing and hilarious characters.

Awesome shows, Starches. I second people's recommendations of Caprica. I haven't seen BSG yet, but you don't need to have seen that to enjoy it. Also, if you enjoy Ally McBeal, you might enjoy Drop Dead Diva. It's funny and cute. Oh and one of my all time favorites-- Felicity.

Freaks and Geeks Wonderfalls Pushing Daisies Merlin Robin Hood
Freaks and Geeks is one of my all-time favorites. I definitely recommend checking it out. Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies were both fairly unknown/underrated, which sucks, because I love both shows but together there are only three seasons between them. Merlin and Robin Hood are both BBC shows, and they're really good. The third season of Robin Hood isn't doing too much for me, but the first two were incredible.
