I had a long long series of stories planned out, but alas, I'm just gonna have to tell the best one. Which is okay, right? Disappointing in way, but at least we go out with the biggest bang we can. Yes, it's canon, yes, it matters, and yes, it's the best SPIKE story I've told. And Franco's art has never been more beautiful. Just wanted to clarify Brian that my dissapointment(and anger) wasn't directed at you or anything. But yeah, i'm sure your series will be great, just like your previous three Spike series were.

Brian, you have the best stories. I mean, this Terrence guy. Wise, super fun *and* the ability to kill a bear in record time? That's a rare combination. I bet he can work wonders with a pair of nunchucks, too. Spike could always use that kind of help, you know? Is he on Facebook?

I asked Chris and Mariah, and they agreed, so I think around issue three, there's gonna be a sweet little addition. It's a sad week, but Shakespeare said it best when he wrote "from sad weeks come great stories". Not WILLIAM Shakespeare, my frat brother Terrence Shakespeare. Man was he eloquent AND could shotgun a beer in record time. Brian. I'm sorry we've lost the on-going Spike series, but I know that the 8 issues we are going to get will be something special. My best wishes to you and Franco. You are the best !

I always thought Spike was going to be more of an extended limited series (kind of like After the Fall) rather than a true "ongoing". I'm sure Brian said a while back that he didn't intend to stay on the title more than a few story arcs, and I'm not really interested in anyone else writing it (hey, Willingham could take over! ) No, it was repeatedly stated that this was a true on-going series. Brian also said that he would continue it as long as people kept buying and were interested. Paul, kindly do not try to tell me how i'm supposed to feel. No, this is usual patern with Spike. Came close to getting a 12-episode series by Tim M. Didn't work out. Was the most certain to first get a dvd movie, didn't work out. Now we were going to get an ongoing series, again didn't work it. I'm pretty sure now that Spike is cursed to always remain a secondary character. Grateful? This is just plain business. And the workings of it are really simple. They create something, we judge what they put out and upon that judgement we decide to either give them money or not for that product. It wasn't me that made it so cold, it was them. With their constant squibeling over licenses,canon/non-canon,ect I went back to check Brian's Q&As, and he said he'd only plotted about 10 issues at the time. Guess I misremembered/misinterpreted that to mean it would only be about 10 issues. In any case, the quality-over-quantity argument still stands. And I'm not trying to tell you how to feel. I guess I'm just fed up of listening to Spike fans acting like the whole Buffyverse should revolve around him. He's not the only character to have aborted spin-offs. Faith and Giles were meant to get their own series as well, and those never happened. And unlike Spike, they never got their own comic book mini-series either, they're just languishing in the background of Buffy. Spike not exactly hard-done by, he's been headlining his own books for years and is getting a new series which will undoubtedly outshine the Angel title. And he'll probably get his own title at Dark Horse as well, since they're going down the spin-off route.

Extremely sad that the series will be only 8 issues. My only way to show some support will be buying at least two covers per issue (and the HC) and any Betta George puppet you'll come with.

I don't know what the other Spike fans are saying or doing, i can only speak for myself. And yes as a Spike fan, the Buffyverse does for me centre around him. It would be all good and well if every lead would always be the favorite but that's not how it works. People choose their favorites, wether it's because they like them the most or identify with them, ect. Fray is also one of my favorites but there are hardly any stories with her. As i explained Spike was the character most likely to get a spin-off project after Angel ended. There was a proposed Faith spinoff after Buffy but Eliza chose Tru Calling. Either way, neither Giles or Faith ever came close to Spike's popularity. I agree, i also think there will be some Spike comics over at DH. Disagree that Spike will be allowed to outshine Angel. DH seems to copy IDW's persona of Angel the vampire that can do no wrong, especially in light of the latest issue.

Angel is not someone that can do no wrong. He's one of the most fallible characters in the Buffyverse. I don't think IDW or DH have portrayed him like that at all.

Well, according to Chris Ryall SPIKE's fate is up in the air. Says it may or may not be an ongoing. idwpublishing.com/news/article/1360Has Spike Issue 3 cover up too! And preview art!

I disagree, the latest whitewashing has started for his Twilight debacle. It amazes me what the character can get away with. Well, according to Chris Ryall SPIKE's fate is up in the air. Says it may or may not be an ongoing. That's exellent news, i really hope Joss allows this. And really a better situation for Spike is not possible then this. Idw already has the series planned, the passionate writer, artist set. I don't think you would be able to find a better writer that commits so long to Spike over at DH. I don't think DH will do more then two ongoings them being Buffy and Angel. And it would be great to finally have Spike outgrow Angel(and Buffy). DH could still do their Spike mini-series, all it would take is some extra dialogue between DH and IDW and it could all perfectly align.
