Update from Brian at Whedonesque: Man, I can't wipe this huge stupid grin off my face. I was already somewhere around the ceiling at the news of a Lynch penned Spike series, but I was a little concerned at seeing the boys split up indefinitely. This is the icing on the cake! I have total faith in Brian, no worries at all - he's more than proven himself to me. And Urru! And Drusilla! With Juliet Landau! And we'll have new stories to look forward to for like a couple more years at least! Gah!! I haven't been this excited since the night before my fifth Christmas. God bless us, every one!

I knew it ... I hope Illyria is part of it, if not I will not be a fan of it (I will still get the TPB tho coz of Brian Lynch and it being canon) and Drusilla Yay.... Gunn is alive, dam.... I wanted him to die. Apparently, Illyria is crossing over into a nother title called "Fallen Angel: Reborn" buffyfest.blogspot.com/2009/02/idw-follow-up.htmlJust for a few issues. i think it was three.

I'm not a big enough Spike fan to really be into this. It makes sense though, with the way ATF is wrapping up, and it's great that Lynch will be behind it.

I'm excited about the SPIKE series because it will be the first time, really, that Spike can head up long story arcs. That means growth for the character, that means building relationships over time, and that means really delving into Spike and what makes him tick. My goal is have a comic that fans of Spike can read and say "see, THIS is what I love about him" while people that don't dig him all that much can read and go "oh THIS is what people see in Spike."

Apparently, Illyria is crossing over into another title called "Fallen Angel: Reborn" I thought Illyria's role in Fallen Angel took place right after she was resurrected from the Deeper Well and lost her powers? And I'm thrilled about the idea Spike getting his own series and that Brian will be in charge of it and all. So Illyria will most definitely be in the Spike series. After all, its what Wesley would have wanted.

There was no mention of Illyria being in the Spike series, Ben.
She'll be in "Fallen Angel: Reborn" for four issues, and yeah, that does take place in Season Five, post-"Time Bomb."

I'm so glad you said that. I'll admit I was a little concerned that Spike would just be frozen in some kind of character loop and we wouldn't see him develop any further. The fact that you plan to explore his characterization further is very reassuring!

Definalty Brian I am really really really excited for this. It's like he's FINALLY gotten his own show! That's exactly what it feels like. This also feels like it's just the beginning for the character and i'm sure there's still plenty of story to tell about him. Who is Spike?

Isn't this going to be part part of the "season 6" of Angel like ATF and Aftermath ? It's becoming hard to follow everything...

Not really, this is a new series that will run concurrently with Angel's series. It will be similar to Spike: After the Fall in that it is a new series that directly relates to Angel.

After the fall was a post-season5 story, it wasn't season 6. And Aftermath will continue Angel's story post-season5 and After the fall. If anything, this would be the equivelant of Spike season 1. Not really, this is a new series that will run concurrently with Angel's series. It will be similar to Spike: After the Fall in that it is a new series that directly relates to Angel. I would say yes and no. We still need more info on the Angel series. But Spike:ATF was more of a companion piece to the main-series which was Angel:AFT. This is an equal to the ongoing Angel series, both series would relate to eachother, me thinks.

Spike's new series will have it's own characters and story line, but Brian said Angel and Spike will still be very much a part of each other's lives, so Spike's series will be born from the ground work laid in the first 20 or so issues of Angel/Spike: AtF, and then from there it will go off on it's own (while still supporting the overall story line, which both series will now support). But you are right about them both being on equal footing.

The folks at BUFFYFEST recently chatted with Brian and we got a few more details about the series: - Joss knows about it, but is too busy to do anything more with it currently. - Launching this Fall, around October or November (probably) - Spike will be in L.A. but will also be traveling as well (most likely to Las Vegas) - Drusilla will most likely feature in an arc down the line
