PreviewsWorld lists the first issue as being one of eight. Are there only going to be eight issues to the entire series?

It's suppose to be ongoing, but maybe only 8 are written/finished so far? Or the first arc in the series is 8 issues, and that's why it says 8?

From this Tweet, it sounds like the on-goingness isn't set in stone. They need the numbers to keep the book going, it seems.

My guess is that this series will go on for a while. Or, I really hope, at least. I'll be trying to get every cover for this series, cause that's how amazing it is/will be.

Maybe if IDW didn't flood the market with 10,000 different Angel and Spike comics, there would be less fragmentation of the market and more interest in the ones that are actually good.
Has this series been solicited yet? I've been looking in Previews and I don't think I've seen it yet.

Thanks Xi. Ooh, a cover for Spike, Angel vs Frankenstein II (haven't read the first one yet) and Angel #38? Honestly, I had forgotten about the Angel series. Looking forward to the Spike series though

Kinda surprised that Urru did the cover for SPIKE #1. It looks really different from his usual style.

From Chris Ryall's blog in early June, this is Franco's cover for the first issue. I could be wrong but I believe Jenny Frison is the artist for the cover shown in the solicits.

You're right, it's Jenny!
Hey, anyone at San Diego Comic Con, come on down to the IDW table at 12:30 tomorrow for a huge ANGEL signing. I'll be there. And be sure to check out the enormous SPIKE series banner (featuring Franco's cover).
And there is an IDW panel on Saturday. I'll be on that too, and I will answer any questions you guys have about SPIKE or, you know, anything I've done with IDW. Seriously, I will spoil away!
Be sure to go to your comics shoppe and ask them to get SPIKE #1. There are so many ANGELVERSE books, I don't want it to get lost. We need numbers to keep it going! Thanks everyone! Much love!

That makes a lot more sense, since the style is very much like Jenny Frison's other covers. The only reason I assumed it was Urru was because he's the only one credited on covers in the released solicitation.

Sincerely, thank you. You have no idea how much going in and telling a comic shop owner you want the series will help. It really gets the book on their radar. I owe you.

I really hope my local 'comic book store' gets the first issue on the first day. xD I want this series to be my first one, where I can buy it personally each time, as I've always bought my issues off of ebay, or whatever.
Just a quick question, do comic stores not get the issue if you don't go in, and request it? I'm a bit of a noobie to the comic buying life. ;D

Pretty sure that most stores have a broad range of books that come in. Some specialty items are usually by order only. It all depends on the store. Smaller stores that cater to a very specific clientele may only bring in limited numbers of items outside what their customers usually read. But for every person that specifically requests a book, there'll be a bunch more that will more than likely buy it too, so that's probably how a lot of stores gauge interest. If there's enough interest, they order more in, thus bumping numbers up, and in the process indicating the popularity of the book.

Word on the street is that the Angel books aren't selling so hot. My comic book store is actually one of the biggest on Long island and the Owner told me the only two people getting Angel related books are me and himself lol. I hope thats not bad news for getting Spike .

Love hearing all the latest news from the SDCC IDW panel! Franco Urru's artwork is just incredible, and I can't wait to see the new series! The little old lady who owns my "local" comic book shop (two hours away... I live in a comic book wasteland) said she's going to stock it, so I am very filled with squee.

Um what street is that exactly?the Angel monthly is IDW's highest single individual issue every month at just around the 18000 mark. The next highest seller is around 13,000.
