Yeah that seems like the only thing up in the air right now. What will happen with Eddie, considering Willingham helped plot out his story? I like his character too, he's easily the best non-Brian created new character.

Dunno, Eddie is a cool concept and I love his look but he hasn't done anything really interesting IMO. They obviously have big plans for him though, so he may grow on me.
Btw, is James the Big Bad now? I stopped buying the issues, whatever happened to him? Was the entire Potentate story in Aftermath just part of his hoax, I don't really get what happened there... do the Potenates even exist?

Well not to spoil if you havn't read the latest issues, but there is some very cool sutff between him and Gunn which addresses guilt and how much a person is responsible for when they had no soul. Really well done. Not sure if he is the Big Bad...but he is a 'Bad' Not sure about the Potentate story...seems to have been a hoax alright. but that is my interpretation of it.

Right now the Big Bad is apparently Liss, a soul sucker raised by Jamaerah. She's the one that's featured on the #36 cover.

Naw, the Soul Sucker isn't the Big Bad. Just an assassin, sent by the true Big Bad. I doubt she'll last more than a few issues.

Well I only say that Liss is the Big Bad because that's how the IDW solicit addresses her. Even so, I feel the Big Bad is definitely James. And it looks like you're right. It seems like Liss has been permanently put down.

Great preview! I can't say how refreshing it is to have a good writing team on this book again. So much so that I'm really enjoying the story now (so I guess some props has to go to Willingham). I'm excited to find out what's going on with Spike.
While I love Elena's art, I'm still not a fan of the coloring. It isn't horrible, it just isn't dynamic enough for me. That's just me wishing everyone was as talented as Fabio Montovani, though.
I'll add thumbnails once I'm home from work.

Wow this was actually very good, Spike and Angel seemed in character- not charicatures anymore. And that art was relatively good too. I like it. Well done IDW.
Edit: I found a typo they may want to rectify if they can at this stage though. "F your soul is actually missing". I assume they meant "If"?

It was okay, better than previous issues. Not crazy about Spike and Angel being at each other's throats again, they're supposed to have outgrown that. Guess it's in context though.
The art is a little weird, some panels look really good and others looked rushed. I like the looser style though, it's a big improvement over Denham. His work was far too stiff and I noticed he recycled some of his own work, which was just lazy.

Read the preview, have several (probably) unpopular opinions. One... still not a fan of the art. The color job is definitely the bigger offender, but I dunno... it all looks so... remedial, IMO. There are no interesting details, no sense of character, other than passable likenesses. Basically, we have two attractive brutes smashing each other up. But the color. OY! Someone get the colorist a new set of tools... or heck, get a new colorist.
Enough about the art. The writing... y'know... still not hearing the Spike "voice". Something is lacking. Syntax, dialect, vocab... it's just not quite there. "So get off my back, Angel" just sounds wrong. Still too formal, not enough swagger. And snark... there is no snark at all. No bite. When Angel and Spike traded blows in S5, it was a non-stop barrage of insults and fisticuffs. Here... not so much.
I should probably just choke down my distaste and start buying the books anyway... want to be all caught up to see how it all ends, and segues into S8 and beyond.

Kinda excited for this since its hitting shelves next wednesday (9/29). Even though there have been issues with Willinghams run, I am still glad the story is compelling to the point where the ending of the run isnt something obvious that we all see coming.
Kinda wanna know how they end with eddie too since he's only got two appearances left, in theory.

ok so i got this today and i gotta say this is one one of the best issues of connorland. Especially if connor is actually dead. I mean I have a feeling he won't be but despite some peoples love for him I wouldn't mind seeing him written out of the story. Angel seemed more fun when he didn't have a son to worry about.
As for Spike's no soul explanation it's...interesting. Especially since they're tying it back to the show. though the cover is definetly misleading since they don't talk about Spike being a champion or having a destiny in any way.
With eddie's story, They're sorta making it look like they're gonna kill him off which would be sad but at this point I really don't know where he could go since his whole schtick is vengance.
With one issue to go Willingham is definetly higher up than Armstrong was, hopefully his finale stacks up better than hers.

Well, unless Joss told IDW it was okay to kill off one of his main characters from the TV shows... I have a funny feeling Connor is going to pull through.
This is easily my least favorite art from this entire series.

Getting sick of Spike I am .... 'Angel' series, 'Spike' min-series, 'Spike' up coming Series (looking forward to this because of Lynch) 'Buffy season 8'. Still, the guy hasn't really done that much with all of his appearances. Hope he gets some meaning soon. I've been sick of Spike since he had so much airtime from BS6, BS7, then AS5, Then of course most of the Angel issues, and now Buffy. There's such thing as too much of one character. Sheesh.
