So? That's where the actual writing comes in. Perhaps they can get permission to make references to After the Fall and show scenes/scenarios from a different perspective since Eddie never interacted with any of the Angel characters until way after LA reverted. And even then, he mostly has connections with Spike and Gunn . I think an Eddie series can work w/o explicit Agelverse input. True and as a collectionist I would get it and most likely enjoy it. I just kinda feel like without even reading it the idea of an Eddie story without any ties to Angel would be sortof like a marketing tool to hold onto the customers IDW is gonna lose to DH when the rights revert. Doesn't mean the story and art wouldn't be phenomenal but if my hunch is right and that ever happened I would lose some respect for IDW.

Why? I wouldn't blame them for wanting to keep their Angel fans in some way. Why do you think they put so much into the TrueBlood comic? It's business. Creating something to keep their readers is a smart move.

got this and it was definetly a good end for Willingham. There were definetly a good number of points raised in this issue worth mentioning:
-Connor has more abilities that will probably get looked at in the next arc.
-Angel is leaving the team to both allow connor to take the lead and set him up for his journey in the next arc and eventually Twilight.
-Spike is leaving the team for his journey in his mini series and do a little "soul" searching.
-Illyria inadvertently left which is probably but not a hundred percent due to her mini series.
-The fate of Eddie is hanging in the balance with one eddie issue remaining.
gotta say I am psyched for the next issue. Hope it comes out early in the month.

Ahhh. Just got the issue. Really good wrap up to Willingham's arc. No more Sisterhood, no more Connor-worship, and no more bad characterization. The issue also sets certain characters on different paths, having Gunn return, and leading Spike and Illyria where they need to be for their respective miniseries. Angel and Connor finally have that father/son moment that I personally have been waiting for. It was so beautiful and touching! -tear- The ending was also hilarious, yet you can just feel the sense of foreboding. This is definitely how WR&H would have made their return on the show. I really enjoyed how there is actual character development and the story is finally moving forward.

Having been pulled up for my rather... blunt critique of last issue, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. It didn't feel like a "crappy non-canon comic" at all (unlike previous efforts) but was actually quite moving and authentic.
The Angel/Connor scene was obviously the highlight, and was a really nice conclusion to their relationship over the past 5 seasons. I don't really feel that Connor is ready to lead AI... he didn't show any leadership skill in the previous arc, but I like the passing-of-the-torch idea so I'll let it go. Hopefully he'll prove himself in the next arc. It was also a nice way to explain why AI isn't looking for Angel during his time as Twilight... as far as they're concerned he's away travelling. That was a plot hole which really broke the credibility of S8 so I'm grateful to see it explained.
I was less keen on the Spike "goodbye" scene, which felt forced and badly-timed. Maybe if it had taken place later at the Hyperion, but literally seconds after a battle? The continuity also seems a little weird... this appears to be Spike's final interaction with Angel before forming "Team Spike", yet Angel appears in "Alone Together Now" as though Spike is still a member of AI. Which scene happened first? Confusing.
The art was much better this time... it was obvious that Casagrande spent more time and effort on this issue than the last. She's a good artist when she puts in the time... the Angel/Connor scene was near-perfect. Good likenesses, but natural, emotive expressions. I know some people are put off by the inking, but I quite like the loose, scratchy quality it has.
Biggest criticism of the issue is that it felt a bit rushed, but that's forgivable given the circumstances. If the final arc is as good as this, it'll be nice to see the series end on a good note.

I had skipped through all the positive reviews for this issue so I was really looking forward to getting it - and I was not disappointed!I agree with those that felt it was all wrapped up a bit too quickly - but I recall when Cordelia got her big glowy powers it was just accepted with 'That was Cordelia' and everyone moved on lol. I'm sure in the next arc more will be revealed about Connors new powers (which will continue on to DH??) The big 2 page spread with them all fighting was amazing (I bet Elena loved doing that! , but tinged with sadness with the line "Who knew it would be the last time". I am not going to concentrate on things which are leading to 'Twilight', but I know that little hints are going to be put in every so often, and I wonder was this a part of that? I liked the scene between Angel and Spike - although it did seem to come out of nowhere and be a bit quick, I know things had to be wrapped up quickly. And Spike must have been feeling this way for a while. Of course the highlight of the issue was the Angel/Connor conversation. It was really beautiful and so full of history and emotional resonance. I echo those that wish we could have seen this played out by the actors. Angel: "When you were born...a lot of things became clearer for me.I'd had a purpose, but you gave it meaning" is my favourite line of the issue. So true, and completely ties in to the 1st episode where Doyle told Angel that he needed a connection to humanity. Those that don't understand how important Connor is need to remember that. More important than any lovers or friends. He is the reason that he fights. I liked Wolfram and Harts return. Just how they would do it the cheeky bastards:) The Eddie Hope back up was great as always. I am glad we are getting a wrap up for him next issue. Laura has a plan for him ....which sounds ominous!

So those of us who read Buffy Season Eight #36.. we see Angel crashing through a portal from somehwere we're not sure yet and Angel says something about "like we never lost the war".. and now we know Angel's taking a lil trip to the future in the next arc so maybe we're going to be seeing this future war Angel was talking about which is what would have happened if he and Buffy didnt have the ol aerial sex, and with W&H's return could they be behind the whole Twilight business altogether using Angel in their apocalypse they're having in Season Eight...

I have no words, no matter what I may say, I think that I can not express the emotion I felt...The lights of Los Angeles, reminded me the scene of "Deep Down" ( Angel Vision 3: What, Connor, no hug?), but now, finally, the scenery has changed...I have no words! by so: Deep Downto so: ...Right now, I want to stand here with my son, just a little bit longer. Thanks to Bill Willingham, Bill Williams, Elena Casagrande, and Jenny Frison...thank you very much, really!! I only hope that DH takes account of this evolution and don't forget what IDW has created for Angel & Connor

Well said! Agree with everything up there. I really liked the issue. As said, Angel and Connor had nice interaction. But it all felt a little rushed in certain areas. I think it's... Sweet that Illyria went off looking for Spike? I know it was a lead in to her mini, but I take it she really is looking for him? And that's why he'll be in parts of her mini series? A bit uncertain there. The Spike goodbye added more as to why Spike left AI, which was something missing from Spike Issue 1, IMO. While this goodbye felt forced, I'm still glad it happened. Connor leading AI? Didn't we do this last arc? Not that I'm against it... But Angel really left, just for this? To 'travel'? I'm thinking that's a light idea. I mean, Spike said he couldn't say what Angel was up to in his Series, and I doubt Angel would just 'travel'. I loved the two-page spread of the team fighting. Team Angel seemed very... Itself. I mean, I really loved the team. Angel, Spike, Illyria, Gunn, Connor, Kate, Laura, Polyphemus... I'm super interested in the Eddie story too! Cannot WAIT to see what happens to him. PS: We better be finding out more about Connor's new abilities. I mean, wtf? Angel completely ignored that fact. And I don't just accept, "Oh, maybe he's evolving?" as just an answer. More!

oddly I feel like Angel sorta had an idea in the back of his head about this that he wasn't sharing. Like he knew everything was about to change and why but rather than spoil stuff he wanted to enjoy his sons company one last time.
