Looks exciting! I love Brians Lynchs writing for Spike. He captures him perfectly!

Looks real to me, it is a pre-order for a special convention cover. These are not uncommon. I don't know if I would trust the whole ebay pre-order business, I've never messed with that.

I wish I was going to NY Comic-Con! From ComicsContinuum.comAs far as that Spike-burning-Twilight's-Mask cover goes, the artwork is real (Franco's from a few months back), but whether the promotion is or not isn't so clear. Never used eBay for preorders before.

Fender, please look at my post above - probably that's the exclusive Spike 1 cover. I've found out it in ebay and I was thinking it's fake... anyway it's a bit expensive for my wallet and I've already bought in a pre-order one with the actual Urru's cover

Maybe. Is the artwork really a real Urru piece? Yes. Also, the auction is for a Wizard World New England exclusive, implying that it wouldn't be so exclusive if it was being sold at New York Comic-Con, and it doesn't appear to be a wrap-around cover like the one for NYCC is said to be. I could be wrong, but that's how it reads to me.

Hm, looks real to me. I'd guess that it's just a rarer version of issue one, because of the cover. Pretty cool.

Yeah, I know that Fender - I love that pic of Spike and I'd like to see Spike is burning Angel's Twilight mask for real! I've used that picture for my dreaming ending of season 8 video! Here is my fan made Spike IDW Promo trailer: The video is dedicated to the whole IDW team - Brian Lynch, Franco Urru, Mariah Huehner and Chris Ryall. I hope you'll like the video! Yeah, you're right it's a rarer version of issue 1, that's why it's so expensive!

I went ahead and pre-ordered the Twilight-burning exclusive cover.

This will be the exclusive for New York comic con. www.newsarama.com/comics/idw-nycc-exclusives-101001.htmlI um... hate that cover? But I get the joke. Spike is evolving into a champion, and Angel's a champion, which means Spike is becoking more like Angel... Reminds me how much I'm tired of that story line. "I got a soul, I feel guilty, I save people to feel less guilty. Also, there's a propechy." Still very excited for this comic tough. And I could be reading too much into it. Maybe it's just suppose to be Turok-Han, The Master, Angelus, Spike & Angel?

I think you're misinterpreting the joke. It was explained in the preview of the issue and in Brian Lynch's comments on that. If anyone is less lazy than me, they're on Whedonesque! I do know that he explicitly stated that it's not about Spike evolving into Angel.

Meh, I'm lazy too. I thought a little more about this cover on whedonesque but I'm too lazy to discuss here too. whedonesque.com/comments/24989To sum up, Angel's taller, so it makes sense.

In my promo vid, I've used that version of the "evolution" picture, posted in Chris Ryall blog: Honesty I was tempted to cut off Angel from the vampire "evolution" path - I've always seen Spike more evolved than Angel But then I've decided to don't do that and the picture to stay such as it is. I believe to Brian Lynch when he said that makes sense if you read the issue. Sky, I think it suppose to be - Turok-Han, The Master, Dracula, Spike, Angel... well, uhhh, I'm still pissed a bit that Angel is in the top of the vampire evolution (especially after Buffy season 8, I'm not a big fan of him), but reading the picture quotes probably that's in the Spike's mind/view...

Ech. Just when I buy a cover, they come out with another one. And I really really really hate the "vamp evolution" cover. But the completionist in me will have to buy this too.
Plus the Master isn't that short.

It's the "evolution" theme, so The Master is shorter because he hasn't "evolved". See, the size has gotta be getting bigger as it goes up. It ain't reality, it's in Spike's head.

Also, Spike's words over the imagery from the preview of the issue don't imply that he thinks Angel is more evolved; he thinks that Angel tries to be so noble that he might as well be in a coma while Spike sees himself as a "chaotic 8.5" on the scale of good and evil, and he seems pretty comfortable with that.

Buffyfest review of Spike #1 with spoilers: buffyfest.blogspot.com/2010/10/spike-1-review-spoilers.htmlFull of spoilers and an extra-page: Looks really great! I can't wait to see Spike in Vegas with Betta George and Beck! And Dru appears in the end. But one thing bothers me... Spike has someone else's soul? How is it possible?

That's what the guy in the story says. But when are things ever as they seem? It's issue 1, don't you worry, we got all sorts of twists and turns.

Lol at George doing a Jedi trick on the ladies and also lol at Beck's ponce comment. I think she's been hanging around Spike too much

Could someone specify the release date for this? I've just read three different dates for it. x.x And saw a review, which kinda confused me.
