Awesome cover. Still no word on who is writing though. Regardless of that, it's Urru, so I'm in.

It's funny. I just graduated, got my BA in English, minor in communications... and I'm thinking about my career goals. I have a play that's going to be produced for sixteen shows in NYC, have an indie feature in the works, and I'm working on a whole bunch of prose pieces that I want to publish.
But really, in the end, my number one goal, above and beyond all of that, is to write the Angel comic. Funny.

Wow...congrats on all that news man. That's great. A friend of mine has written some plays as well (and had them staged), and wrote a 6 episode TV show which he is trying to shop round to English TV channels. So I hope they all go well for you. Keep us posted!
Have you written an spec Angel scripts?

Wow...congrats on all that news man. That's great. A friend of mine has written some plays as well (and had them staged), and wrote a 6 episode TV show which he is trying to shop round to English TV channels. So I hope they all go well for you. Keep us posted! Woah, that's fantastic! Give him my best. Oh yeah. I wrote a treatment and a first script for three issue miniseries called "Angel: Whosoever You Be." It was set during Angel: Season Five and focused on Wesley and Illyria. I'm still in love with the script, so as much as I want to share it, I also want to keep it to myself in hopes that maybe, one day... you know. I pitched it to Stephen Mooney, who dug it, but since Angel sells so much, the editors are looking for established writers. Which totally makes sense, and it's their big title. I'm going to keep trying though, both on the title and GETTING established, because the whole writing thing? Sorta kinda in my blood.

Well from what I have read in your reviews and in various blogs - you definately got a talent. Keep plugging away at it and someday we will see your name above the title:)

Covers and solicits for the first issue, out in April! David Tischman (w) • Franco Urru (a) • Urru, Dan Panosian (c) A recently souled Angel is on a quest for a "cure" in San Francisco when, of course, something goes horribly wrong. Seeking out a Chinese healer, Angel encounters a mysterious girl with a strange tattoo, and quickly learns that life in early 1900s America is full of surprises... *2 regular covers will be shipped in a 1-to-1 ratio. FC • 32 pages • $3.99Never heard of David Tischman before, here's his Wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_TischmanHe hasn't done much, so we'll see how he is. Can't wait to see more art from Urru, and Panosian's cover is great.

I'm really happy IDW is doing stuff like this. Angel is an old vampire yet we don't even know a quarter of the things he's done in his life. Knowing IDW is helping to bridge the gap with interesting stories is comforting.

I agree! I hate everything post After the Fall, IDW should focus on Angels extremely long and interesting past so it doesnt collide with the canon stories...

This is the "good" part of IDW having limited input from Joss. It gives them more creative freedom to do such projects as Angel stories from the past and comic adaptations of the best TV-episodes. Sure, I'd loved to have Joss more involved in Angel, but then I'm sure we wouldn't be getting gems like Blood & Trenches.
You win some, you lose some..
