Does anyone know how 'canon' these stories are? Yes. 100% not at all canonical.

I actually got mine a while ago... and I'm partly through it. I'm currently in the process of getting through "Auld Lang Syne". Gotta say, I'm pretty surprised by how not entirely awful it is. In fact, thus far, it's been way better than any of the Buffy Omnibus books released to date. It's not fantastic, but definitely a pleasant surprise.

Good to hear. I'm looking forward to getting it. I saw it in the store the other day and it seems pretty well put together. Very thick too.

I bought this Omnibus becouse I would like to have a complete collection of buffyverse's comics.
I like very much the artwork of David Messina, even if the pages weren't full of details. I like very much his way to draw Spike. Instead I don't really like the stories: "The Couse" is a little bit boring and I miss the Gang very much! "Old Friend" is very interesting at the beginning, but then it's very repetitive. "Auld Lang Syne" is very similar to "Old Friend". The only stories I relly enjoy are the Illyria and Doyle spotlight.
I have a question: do you know if dark Horse will collect Angel comic in an Omnibus volume after the end of Buffy Omnibus (I think the 7 is the last one)? I would really like to read there comics.

Beyond awful Well, some of the art was pretty bad, but the same can be said about a lot of the earlier Buffy artists. I'm just glad that Georges Jeanty landed the S8 gig, as no one has been nearly as good as him, IMO. Although I love Karl Moline's work on Fray. But to address your point further, I was referring the writing in general, not so much the artwork.

Does anyone know how 'canon' these stories are? Yes. 100% not at all canonical. You know what would be freaking hilarious? If "After the Fall" set up the beginning of the old IDW Angel comics. Notice the how when "Old Friends" begins there's this awkward tension between Angel and Gunn? And how Gunn has been focusing his attention on human crimes instead of the supernatural? I know that's totally not going to happen but it's just a funny thought I had. Personally, I think it was a mistake of IDW to release thier Omnibus this early. They've got, what four mini-series and the "Masks" oneshot (which wasn't even included)? Compare that to the many, many years worth of Buffy comics that are packed into the Buffy Omnibuses. What I think IDW should have done was followed Buffy's example. Wait a few years. I mean, the trades of "The Curse", "Old Friends", "Spotlight" and "Auld Lang Syne" are all still pretty easy to find in comic stores. Also it would have been nice if these stories were released in chronological order rather than the order of publication. It's kinda cool to be able to read Buffy's comic book adventures from pre-season one, all the way throught to season seven. I think Omnibus #1 should have been "Blood and Trenches", "Spotlight", "Smile Time" and "Masks". Omnibus #2 could be "Not Fade Away", "After the Fall #1 (directors cut)", "The Curse," "Old Friends", "Auld Lang Syne". That's what I would have done.

The Angel omnibus is bigger than any of the Buffy omnibuses. It was released at a great time, because "After the Fall" really revamped the entire series. It collects that was put out before AtF, so that the old material can be easily accessed without really being confusing. Same at BtVS, who just started to relased the omnibuses in time for Season Eight.

Dark Horse doesn't have the right to Angel to do that.

I don't like at all the fact that the Angel Omnibuses aren't in chronological order... Any info about a volume 2 ? One of the problems with putting them in Chronological order that stories like "The Curse" and "Old Friends" take place during an undetermined time. I remember when these first came out; IDW didn't really say when they took place. I don't think they were allowed to say that took place after Season 5, although it sure seems like it. If they do take place after Season 5 then ATF totally contradicts these stories, and since ATF is canon, these are put into an "alternate timeline". With the old Buffy comics, they were careful to make sure that they still fit in to the timeline of the show, and not very many events in those comics directly contradict the TV show, even though they are not canon.

I just got this today, and I read it right to the end. I loved it! The Illyria Spotlight was amazing! I loved how well written it was! The other Spotlights were okay, as well. Old Friends was the most interesting to read out of the others, besides Spotlight.
Do we think there will be a second Angel: Omnibus?

does anyone know how many volumes there are gonna be? by the look of volume 1, it seems like if there's gonna be a second, that'll be it.
