How do you guys feel about Spike and Beck's relationship? Is it purely platonic, paternal, or possibly romantic? I've heard people (Lynch himself IIRC) compare them to father-and-daughter, in the way that Beck initally hero-worships and tries to emulate Spike, but later (in upcoming issues) is more rebellious. However, relationships can change with time, we saw Xander and Dawn go from a father/daughter relationship to a romantic one. Also, if you think Beck is too young for Spike, just look at Buffy and Angel (she was 16 when they started dating!). I'd like to see Spike move on from Buffy, and his relationship with Beck intriques me. It's one of the most exciting things about the new Spike series, wherever it goes. (Also Brian, if you read this, please give Beck a full-name. It bugs me when characters don't have surnames. Joss is terrible for that.)

Father/daughter or just friends is fine with me. After Season 9, maybe Spike will be able to move on.

Well, Spike has so far pretty much treated Beck like a kid sister. And Beck superficially idolizes Spike. She also seems to know him pretty well like a close friend would. However, I don't think Beck loves him, at least not at this point. She wasn't bothered with the possible Spike/Tok relationship.

Father/daughter relationship for me. We've already seen one like that gone into romance (Xander/Dawn), no need to do it again to another one

I always saw the Spike/Beck relationship as more of a Big brother/younger sister thing, which for me was a nice extension of the Dawn/Spike relationship. As Beck's parents are dead and she is alone in the world, than I think that the big brother vibe you get from Spike occaisionally has a fatherly ring. The relationship will change and evolve as Beck gets older and more rebellious. I think it's good for the story to have a next generation presence and I also find the uncle/nephew relationship between Spike and Connor great as well. Brian's writing of both of these relationships is a touch of genius really and one which really enhances his stories. I don't think I'm really ready to have the Spike/Beck relationship become a romance as for me, you'd lose too much. I think that of Brian's female OC's, the one character I could imagine as a romantic foil for Spike would be Tok, as there is a capacity for equality in their relationship whereas all other of Spike's romances have been unequal to some extent.

I really think that Beck is in love with Spike, she idolizes him so much that she must have warm fuzzy feelings involved, but I don't want them to become an item anyway - Spike knows better...
Beck is too old for this kind of idolization for a father figure...

I've voted for "Father/daughter" relationship, but I see the Spike/Beck relationship as more of a "Big brother/younger sister" relationship, similar to Spike/Dawn relationship, but not quite the same. I don't think Spike will move on from Buffy so easy - Buffy still is the love of his life (unlife) - I'm waiting for their reunion on Buffy S8 and 9, but if he does, it wouldn't be with Beck. Tok is more appropriate candidate for a new Spike's love interest - Spike has a thing to the strong, intelligent and a bit stubborn women.

I agree with you, completely, Paul. I've always thought Beck has a crush on Spike. I think it's cute. I think they'd be somewhat good together, yet at the same time I don't. I'd like to see Spike move on from Buffy, and Beck could help him do that. But I don't want her treated like a 'Nina'. In the end, I voted for 'Sexual Tension'. By this, I mean: I want them to have chemistry, and something between them, but never take it into the "boyfriend/girlfriend" category. I think it should remain at Beck has a crush on him. Maybe have her admit it to him eventually, but I don't think Spike would return them, not at first at least. So, yeah. Spike/Beck's relationship in one of the things I'm looking forward to a lot. I know a few people who like Spike/Tok as a couple, but I strongly disagree. I don't see them getting together, in any form, shape, or way.

I was hoping for a Beck/Spike relationship. But I think Brian has denied that will happen.
I thought it would be a good transition for Spike from Buffy. I'm a Spike fan first and Spuffy fan second - so although I hope for a Spuffy union someday - I would much rather Spike be with someone who loves him for who he has always been and will always be.
Beck seems to like Spike a lot and she has issues of her own, so she's not all "you evil souless thing" like Buffy has been.
But a friend is good for Spike too.
