Should we maybe start sending postcards to the DH head office to convince them to hire Brian to write the Spike (mini-)series for season 9?

I'm too cheap to do that. How about a online name list? I can't remember the website's name, but it's very easy to start one.

I'm not sure he'd want to. I could be wrong, though.

Brian writes so well, not just for Spike, but also for Angel, Gunn, Illyria and Connor that I would imagine he would be quite an asset for Season 9. I see no reason why he wouldn't write the Buffyverse characters brilliantly as well. But it depends on DH and whether he would wish to do so. I can hope...

It would be great to have him handle the Angel/Spikeverse for Darkhorse. I mean, it was Joss who sought Brian to write for Angel after reading his Spike: Assylum and Shadowpuppets.
Maybe he can work out something with IDW.

It would be really cool if Lynch did join Season 9 and continue the Spike series there, cuz he really does write a great Spike, Angel, Connor, Illyria + others. However, I don't really see it happening

I'm not sure if it's Dark Horse that'd need convincing.

Who? Brian Lynch?
Well let's see.... IDW won't have the license anymore, the man is crazy talented at writing and is Whedon-approved, oh, and let's see, the FANS want him to write. I don't get how him writing for Darkhorse would be a bad thing.

Not as simple as that. He has a lot of ties at IDW, no? I'm not speaking for Brian because I don't know the situation, but personally I think he wouldn't want to do it out of respect to IDW.

But why would him writing for Dark Horse be disrespectful?
That I don't understand. All the way through, IDW has always been about the fans and producing comics that do the show and characters justice. So if fans feel that Darkhorse' Season Nine would benefit with Brian Lynch as a writer, why would IDW hold that against him? Is there a contract stating that anyone who writes for IDW can ONLY write for IDW? If there's something I'm not getting please explain it to me because I'm definitely not familiar as to how comics are produced.

Despite the fact that everyone is being diplomatic and friendly in public, I don't think there's any love lost between IDW and Dark Horse... especially now. According to Scott Allie, Brian is pretty loyal to Chris Ryall and IDW.
I don't know what would happen if Joss personally asked Brian to write the Spike material for season 9. I almost wonder if there could be some special licensing deal where the Spike series could stay in-house at IDW, eventually becoming part of season 9, with the season 9 part co-owned by DH and IDW.
Even after the news of the license going back to DH, there seemed to be some uncertainty over whether the Spike series would end next year after 8 issues or not. Seems like there wouldn't be any question about that unless something was being talked about.

Does anyone know if Lynch is under exclusive contract to IDW?

SPIKE goes for eight issues, then Dark Horse takes it, unfortunately. This story is going to be great, and I'm confident it'll be the best SPIKE story ever told, but I'm itching for more. Does anyone know if Lynch is under exclusive contract to IDW? He's not.

I'm not sure he'd want to. I could be wrong, though. Yeah, not sure either. I get the sense Lynch is loyal to IDW.

Kind of off topic, but along the lines of discussing S9 and B. Lynch, I would kind of like to see him do his own thing. I love his Angelverse stuff, but I would love to see what the "Lynchverse" might look like.
