Haven't seen a thread here for this classic; Figured I'd make one! ;D This movie has been out forever, and it's been apart of my life ever since I can remember. It amazes me how much merchandise is still selling for this. I see paintings, toys, statues, and snow globes everywhere!

Does it make me a horrible human being if I've neither read the book, nor watched the film? I have watched Wicked on stage though... so maybe I'm not absolutely terrible?

Doesn't make you terrible Wenx, just missing out! I feel sad for you... go rent it or something and just get it in your system.
I love Wizard of Oz, and so so happy to say I'm going to see Wicked next year when the production comes to my city.... YAY.

Ohh, I wanted to see Wicked when they were on tour (for my birthday), but it was sooo expensive. I would still like to see it one day. I've gotten the book to read, but have yet to read it.

Yeah it's at LEAST $100 for the tickets early bird GROUP bookings. I don't think we have the "original cast" or anything, but it will still be amazing I've been dying to see it for so long and never thought I'd get the opportunity. So pretty happy

Um, well, in my final year of school, I participated in the school play version called 'The Wiz of Oz'. I played a munchkin, an Emerald City citizen (funnily enough, I was the only male in both roles) and I finally portrayed a messenger who gets killed by the wicked witch for delivering a bad message to her. I own the play on DVD, but I don't watch it

I love The Wizard of Oz. I used to watch it so much when I was little to the point of the tape not working. I also used to have my mom fast forward through the parts with the flying monkeys, when I look back at that I find it so silly considering I used to watch horror movies at that same time. It's a big bonus that Judy Garland is from my home state of Minnesota.

I <3 <3 <3 this movie! One of my all time favorites!
If you haven't seen it you should! Instantly! I think it is a watchinstantly on net flix as a matter of fact! But this time of year, it will be on tv (tnt) a lot.
People have come to associate it with Thanksgiving in the US because of the themes of thankfulness and appreciating what you have in your life that runs through the film.

This, I cannot get on board with. The Wizard of Oz is a classic, amazing film that should not be subjected to a remake. What is the point? Seriously?! But, I will admit, this sounds a whole lot better than the rumour that Kenny Ortega (Director of HSMs) was looking to remake Oz and wanted - wait for it - Miley Cyrus as Dorothy. Just writing about it makes me want to cry from the sheer horror!

Yeah, the interesting thing about this is that it would be a remake from the original script, so I assume we won't have any rapping flying monkeys or anything like that. One of the posters on the site suggested Neil Patrick Harris for the Tin Man.

Hmmm... sensible mom-shoes that are still disturbingly hot. Hey, lady... ever thought of taking a day off from looking pretty? I'm sure it gets tiring. Now... how about that matchy-matchy velour tracksuit? Jenny from the Block, y'all!

Omg. Sarah's baby is so precious. :3 Those pictures are great! And Sarah is looking very good. Thanks for posting those. And a remake of the classic... With the original script? Hmm. You know, my instinct is to be against this, but I MIGHT give it a chance. If they use the original script, and just change up the scenery for the better I might get something out of this. So, I'll like it if it's bad, and I'll hate it if it's stupid. On the other hand, has anyone read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Eric Shanower & Skottie Young? It's a comic miniseries, and the art is superb. The book won some type of award. The same duo also did a sequel to the project, The Marvelous Land of Oz, which looks great. And I believe they are working on yet another Oz series: Ozma of Oz.
