YOUR EYES THAT DART THE RAYS OF THE SUN! I assume we have till December to see which side is declared the winner...but it might make for fun conversation in the meantime. So which side do you choose? Protect the Seed, or destroy it? And explain why, or reasons behind what is making you choose. Or do you see the right in both sides? Go!

I voted to destroy it, but not with great conviction. On the whole I'm comfortable in a world without magic, and I'm not sure the ugliness of the Fray future really was a necessary consequence of it (I might change my mind). Is anybody worried about the new universe?

We've already been told twice that destroying the Seed is the right thing to do so I'm not sure what else can be done.

Protect it. I don't want the Fray future to happen. The Fray future makes me nervous for Illyria, Betta George, Clem, and a lot of other demon characters.

The Fray future means a ruined world, or just a world without magic? Does the ruin have to happen? Is Fray's world the only one possible, if the seed is destroyed? I don't think so. Am I missing something?

Scott Allie has said that the Fray future is the future we're gunning towards. That they're not going to retcon it. It may not happen right now, but it's an eventual endpoint.

While the Fray future will happen, though, Scott also said the specific events of that future aren't set in stone... so it's not absolutely certain that Willow will become Future Dark Willow, at least in our timeline.
(If it were set in stone it would lead to an interesting paradox... it would mean that Willow can't die, under any circumstances, until Buffy kills her in the Frayverse... and Willow would be aware of that fact. I wonder what it would do to her mentally to know that she is absolutely indestructible for the next 200 years?)

I'd much prefer it if the Fray Universe was placed into an alternate future. I don't like how it is so grim.
It's no fun when you know the ending.
Protect the Seed!

I disagree; they did a pretty good job of it in Dollhouse, and How I Met Your Mother is a premise built upon knowing the ending -- it's right there in the title. It's all in the journey!

But in Dollhouse, although characters may have died, the greater good was achieved because Rossum was taken out.
Fray world = Buffy has lost. The world is not saved, and the demons are still doing their thing! Something Buffy herself laments over after realizing she is in the future.

Break the cork.
After that maybe humans won't be that stupid to believe that vampires are good and slayers bad

Destroying the Seed will give them problems dealing with the demons that remain. But the most powerful people aren't making very good decisions right now so I think there's a lot of potential for abuse at this point. If Spike was superpowered as well I think the Seed would be worth protecting but as things stand I think it would serve the current human populace better if it's destroyed. (Not certain though.) Either way, I would be a lot less interested in the story if there's limited magic. So I see merits in both arguments, I think the characters should want it destroyed, but as a reader I want it to be protected. Unless Xander destroys it for Dawn. That would be cool.

I don't know what to vote... I'm torn. l Personally, I want to protect it. But judging by the way things are progressing, I see no other way than destroy it, so I'll compromise.
I love Willow, she's my favorite character since the start, and I love magic (WitchWilow FTW!), but I realise things are going way too fast and the stakes are way too high to remain the way they are now.
Plus, Alluwyn said to protect it - that's enough to question it, IMO.
I believe there's something we don't know that will tip the scales though.

Protect, protect, protect. Magic is danger and nuance - freedom and meaning. Risky but worth it. A world without it would make such a postmodern statement, and I don't like those.
Also, I so fear for so many characters I love in the context of a magic-free world. If it absolutely must go, then it should be nothing more than temporary.
I too hope there's a big enough reveal coming, that will justify the final decision..

Personally, I want them to protect it . . . but for the sake of continuity and the betrayal of "Anywhere but Here," I want it to be broken.
