I thought it might be cool to have a thread where you can post your idea for an original character and hear other people's opinions about them. For example, you could explain their powers, relationships, personality & anything else you like. I think this thread might be useful when you're about to whrite a fanfic with an original character, but don't know if it's a good concept or not.

I don't write fanfic, but I have had my ideas about new characters from time to time. I remember watching S3 and 4 and thinking that it would be awesome if Faith had a little sister named Hope, who maybe grew up in the same circumstances but didn't let it take over her life. Like if Faith's upbringing was so terrible it made her rebel and get tough, Hope would've been all insightful about it and decide to learn from that experience and become a gentle and caring person. I got way into this (of course casting myself as Hope) and decided that Hope would end up becoming friends with Willow, who was still pretty sweet-natured in S3 and 4, and maybe learning some witchcraft, but then the terribleness that is Dawn happened in S5 and I abandoned my Hope character. Anyhoo, I think it would be cool if Hope ended up being the only one to get through to Faith in her decent into dissidence, and that maybe Hope and Faith could end up living together and fighting evil on the (then somewhat possible) Faith spin-off.
Cool thread idea! -Jen

I love your idea, Faith having a sister would have opened up entirely new doors for the character. I never whrite fics either, but I do imagine some stories in school when a class gets dull.(a not small portion of the time) Here's my idea: Name: Emory Waned Gender: Male Age: 19 Eye color: Blue(Human form), Black(Demon form) Hair color: Dark Brown Sexuality: Gay(though not out yet) Species: Half-Demon, He can morph between demon and human form like Doyle could. His demon species is called the Anary-clan, a nearly-extinct peacefull race that live in convents away from society. The species has a natural talent for magical abilities but rarely use them because of their belief any kind of magic is against their peaceful ways. History: Emory is the child of a pureblood Anary woman and a human man. His father was a former demonhunter that embraced the peaceful ways of the Anary and fell in love with one of them. Emory's mother died giving birth to him and his father killed himself soon after. Emory has always felt responsible for his parents dead. Emory was raised by the Anary in a convent in Tibet. Here he was raised to believe that magic is an evil thing that should be avoided at all time. Emory never truly believed this, and he practiced witchcraft in secret. When his clan found out about this, he was banished from the convent. He traveled to the USA, hoping to start a normal life in Los Angeles. Emory soon found out that he was very different from other humans, not only because of his soon discovered sexual orientation, but too because he was unable to live a normal life. He soon followed in his father's footsteps and became a demon hunter using his magical abilities. After the Fall of Los Angeles, he met the members of Angel investigations while fighting a group of Fyarl Demons. Emory developed a crush on Connor and became an allie of AI. Personality: Because Emory grew up in a convent, he is largely unfamilier with the rules of society. Because of this, he almost never knows what to say or do.(and lost a lot of jobs because of it) Emory desperately wants to fit in, and almost never shows his demon form. He likes reading, meditating, gaming...and Connor. Relationships: Angel: Emory respects Angel and his mission of redemtion. Although he doesn't get why Angel has to be so broody all the time. Illyria: Emory and Illyria can relate to one another, since they both want to understand society and human life. Emory somethimes trains with Illyria, which gives them the oppertunity to talk about their problems. Connor: Emory was instantly atracted to Conner, but never admitted his feelings because he thinks Connor would reject him anyway. Connor often enlists Emory's help on jobs he thinks he can't handle by himself. But in truth, Connor just likes hanging out with him. Connor suspects Emory might have feelings for him, and lately he has been wondering if his own feelings for Emory might go beyond simple friendship. well, that's that. I've been toying with this character in my head for a while, I hope you like.

^That's epic! I love the idea of a gay-demon-lover for Connor!
Often whilst watching Buffy I would imagine myself to be a new character on the show, and four Joss to be just that little bit ahead of me. In season two I daydreamed that I was a second slayer, more independant than Buffy and slightly drawn towards the dark side. Then Faith came along and I was like oh hey it's me! Then around season four I toyed with the idea of being Buffy's sibling... then Dawn came along and I hated her and regretted that daydream. Then through rewatches I came to love Dawn. So I kind-of see Faith and Dawn as my creations (even though I imagined them several years after the show originally aired 'cos I only statred watching a few years ago). And if not my creations they are at least my characters.

This is kind of vague ... but I always figure what we need are more good villains.
I just saw a trailer somebody made for a story (not yet written, let alone produced) where the Scoobies meet versions of themselves from an alternate universe. That sounds promising.
I have a couple of other vague notions, but I think I'll wait to see if that one draws any comment before I post them.

Yeah, I usually create characters for my Buffy fics, though they're mostly offspring for some of the main characters
