What do you guys expect to see in the spin-off? I myself really would like to see some spike/drusilla action , this couple is just amazing Hey, Drusilla might even get a soul too considering the fact "having a soul is what the cool kids are doing these days" and Darla, Angel and Spike, three of the Scrouge of Europe have played that gig...

I'd love to see Spike & Drusilla interaction again, but if they give her a soul, I think I'll write a "Really? AGAIN?" letter for the letter section of the comic.
Maybe it they could make it feel new and fresh, like what they did with Darla, I might like it. But it became very old very fast with Spike. His journey both in Angel season 5 and the comics after that was too similar to Angel's journey for my taste.
On the other hand, how could Drusilla getting a soul be anything like Angel & Spike's re-ensouling? She's crazy, and have serious family issues already (torturing Angel in 'What's my line', complaining about what he did to her family, then a few weeks afterwards calling Angelus "daddy" is a example of that). I can't imagine that she would react as well as Spike & Angel did. For Angel it seemed to take about a century before he got himself together. I think it would take a lot more time for her to be okay with the soul.
To sum up; Seems like it would take a ongoing series to deal with that kind of character development, so I doubt they'll put it in a mini series.
However, it wouldn't be impossible. Maybe she got a soul, since she was so lonely and missed her family, and she wanted to be with Angel & Spike. Then she couldn't deal with it, and wanted Spike's help. He could help and she killed herself. I think that plot would be very interesting. I'll think I'll write a drabble for that right now in fact.

Is it said how long they'll be? From what I've heard, they're going to be mini series.

I think a souled Drusilla would certainly take the comic into a darker and more serious realm. The fact that she's so out of her mind is what I like best about her, and oddly enough, keeps a certain whimsical tone. Nevertheless, if there's more Dru, I am sold.

Dru with a soul could be very interesting. I don't think that she could handle it. She is too far gone in the head already. I don't think that the whole mini could be devoted to a story like that because while it would be an interesting story I don't think that Spike would really help her with it. Sure he has a soul now, but he is way over Dru and I feel that is a good thing. Sure, Spike and Dru still have unfinished business but her getting a soul is not the way to go with it. I will have to see how their meeting in Vegas goes before I can really where those two are headed.
I would like to see Spike and Andrew team up some. Plus George and the rest of the Mosaic crew as well! I think that is where Spike belongs, with his own team doing there own thing. Sure he can check in on Buffy but he still has some "heroing" left to do before he can try and make things work with Buffy. Spike is his own man now.
Plus it would be great if Brian could write the Spike stuff! He has such a good handle on him. Besides Joss, I think Brian is the best person that can write Spike. He might even be a tad better.

I'm thinking one of the things we'll see in the Spike spin-off is Spike. But that's just speculation since its really too soon to know anything for sure.

I think i've had enough of souled vampires. How about we see spike doing something stupid again like he used to in the show you know those stupid never going to work plots he always came up with. ;D

I want to see how his story gets to where he is in the Buffy comics. In particular, his vehicle and minions. I think THAT would be quite interesting.

I'd love to see his story closely connected with Buffy's story, see him interacting with Buffy's crew. Not gonna happen, though. I've got the impression that Spike's ship was introduced with a purpose - to make the character more mobile, to make his possible jumps between Buffyverse and Angelverse more justified.
I'd be happy to see Spike and Illyria and Xander and Dawn's intergalactic adventures. The dynamics between these four could be very interesting.

I'd like to know why Joss thought we'd all be perfectly happy to not get an explanation of Spike's ship and bug crew. Without proper context, things like this seem like contrived plot-convenience devices.
"And then Spike shows up with a big magic sword that kills anything it hits, and saves the day!"
"What? Where did he get that??"
"Oh, uh... I don't know. But... who cares? Cool magic sword!"

Because it was a structural conundrum. In order to give Spike (and Angel) the proper context, we needed many issues exploring those things. However, given the structure of S8 (not the best, I give you that), doing that would have taken away from the main storyline (can you already hear the outcry about how Joss only ever uses these characters to service Buffy(ahem)'s storyline?). The easiest, and best way to deal with that is of course to do spin-offs or a miniseries (which is a huge plus of the medium). However, given that the identity of Twilight the figurehead was a mystery, there was no way to properly give context without giving that away. And Spike's appearance was supposed to be a surprise of sorts too. And then, there's the little bit of licensing politics.
In my interview with Allie a while ago, he said that if IDW wasn't going to do the introduction of Spike's bug crew, it would have been something that was explored in S9.

Sorry, but I don’t wanna see any Spike&Dru interaction, unless they are enemies. I don’t like the idea about souled Dru… I do agree with usagianddarien - I've had enough of souled vampires! And can you imagine Drusilla a souled vampire?! She’s insane, for God sake! Soul or not soul she would be the same freak. And I don’t want to see Spike & Dru reunion in a romantic sense – I would hate it as much as I hated the Buffy/Angel sex reunion. I’d love to see Spike with Illyria and his Vegas team again and I’d love Brian to write it, but I doubt it. I’d like to see Spike with Faith and with Andrew – it would be interesting. Moscow Watcher, just like you I'd love to see Spike’s story connected with Buffy's story, see him interacting with Buffy's crew. I hope it would happen in Buffy’s comics, but not in his mini-series. It was interesting to see Spike interacting with Giles, I loved their single moment in the ship before to arrive to the Hellmouth, but… poor watcher… Hee, hee that’s interesting idea, Moscow! Well, maybe we would get and some Spike/Angel moments. I’m curious would he forgive to his grandsire? AndrewCrossett – We’ll get an explanation of Spike's ship and bug crew in Brian Lynch’s Spike’s series. wenxina - I’m quite sure Brian and Mariah mentioned that the storyline of their mini-Spike series will be about Spike getting his ship and his bug’s crew. And it has been mentioned before Buffy’s issue 36. I remember we were curious in IDW forum about his “Bug’s crew”. But I remember S. Allie mentioned in your interview, that we’ll get more of Spike’s ship and his crew in his Dark Horse mini series. I’m not sure is it a flashback or something new…

wenxina - I’m quite sure Brian and Mariah mentioned that the storyline of their mini-Spike series will be about Spike getting his ship and his bug’s crew. I know. I was talking about in the event that the bug crew bit hadn't been picked up for Lynch's current SPIKE series, it would have been something that DH would have had to deal with in S9. But yeah, Scott did say that there'll probably be some stuff left for them to cover regarding the ship and crew in S9.

And I guess the IDW Angel series will cover why Angel got spat out of a portal and into the Hollywood sign. Though I never quite caught whether Joss was going to tell the writers the reason, or if they were just free to make it up themselves. My take on souled Drusilla: Probably not much different than soulless Drusilla, at this point. I don't have much desire to explore soulless Dru. (Although clothes-less Dru, as we saw in the first Spike issue, is a different matter. )
