Just another fun poll question for more discussion...
My top 5 episodes would probably contain:
-War Stories -Out of Gas -Objects in Space -Trash -Ariel
But my favorite would be Objects in Space. It's one of Joss' greatest episodes out of his shows. The story and the way it's shot, especially the first part with River, was so amazing.

I love all of Firefly's episodes (it was way more consistent than either Buffy season 1 or AtS season 1, IMO), but I'm also going to go with Objects in Space. It holds its own with the greatest episodes of Buffy and Angel, no question in my mind, and that's no small feat given that there are only 14 episodes in Firefly..

I voted for Safe. I just love this episode so much! Especially the scene when River is dancing and having a good time!

That is a great scene!
Like I said, I voted for The Message but I have to give shout outs to Safe, Objects in Space, and The Trash Job!

War Stories was great. Maybe I would have voted for that one if I would have thought of it!

off topic: I really need to just buy Firefly and watch it! I have 'Serenity' already, should I watch the show first?

off topic: I really need to just buy Firefly and watch it! I have 'Serenity' already, should I watch the show first? Definitely wait until you see the series. I saw the movie before the show, and I liked the movie, I just didn't really GET it. But after I saw the show, I found it to be amazing. Let's just say this, when I saw Serenity in theaters, at one part, a girl started crying and ran out, which I didn't see what the big deal was, UNTIL I saw the show.

"Objects in Space:" the best episode of television Whedon has ever written (along with "The Gift" and "A Hole in the World.")

Out of Gas was wonderful because we got to see how Mal met the rest of the crew. But Objects in Space is still the best. Early to me, is probably the best Joss Whedon villian ever.

Yeah, my best buddy saw it in theaters and told me it sucked, so I never saw it. I watched the series and then forced him to go back and watch it, and now it's one of his favorite movies. It takes him YEARS to watch anything on DVD (he's had the first disc of season 7 of Buffy for 9 months now) but he watched the whole series in a weekend.

Our Mrs Reynolds got my vote, the last scene just left me in utter hysterics. Though I loved Out of Gas and Jaynestown too, so it was very tricky. Concerning the discussion about whether to watch the movie or show first, I saw Serenity first, I didn' have much of a clue what was going on, but I still adored it, and it's still my favourite movie. So it's a good hook if you wnt someone to start watching the show, but you'll probably need someone to explain it.

I would have to say Out of Gas was probably my favorite. It's really hard to choose though. all of them were excellent. Objects in Space is probably tied right up there with OoG though.
Although, Ariel is a good close one for me too.

It was really hard to choose since I love every single episode of Firefly, but I decided to go with War Stories. I really like Wash's involvement in the episode.
My other favorites are: Jaynestown, Ariel, and Objects in Space.

Objects in Space is one of the best 45 minutes in television history.
