atleast buffy et al don't have to worry about rescuing dawn anymore...
is this why they supersized her? or maybe so her voice could no longer physically make that hi-pitched whiny noise.
<in deep giant dawn voice> "Buuuuuuuuuuuffy, pay attention to me and get Willow to make me normal-sized again!"
Inside the castle, Buffy looks at Willow and rolls her eyes. "Sooooo you wanna watch 'Wild Things'?
"Looking for pointers?"
"I just wanna check and make sure i'm not not doing something right, ya know, just in case cuz...yeah."
"I'm gonna go fix Dawn so you're too busy to think about stuff like this EVER."

Which really reminds me when the hell are they going to make Dawn normal sized? I know Whedon thinks it's hilarious and all but it really hasn't caused many chuckles yet and is actually kind of holding Dawn back from actually being a character in the series. At least it is keeping her from bitching all the time...well for the most part.

I lol:ed atleast five times when I read this issue. It was so much fun. It must be in the top-ten of Buffy's funniest moments.
Wonder what they were thinking, sending Xander. I suppose it is so they can fed Dracula false info, so that he doesn't try to "seduce" someone esle to get the info.
i haven't read this thread, since I got enough homofobia forcefed from the slayerverse discussions and don't want to risk it (it's also 16 pages), but honestly, how many people can read those pages with Batsu and not laugh?
Joss did a great job and now i'm finally convinced to a 100% that he made the right choice to bring Buffy back.

Wait - wasn't 12 the most recent issue? 13 isn't out yet, right?

No, I'm pretty sure this issue isn't out yet.

Aw that's a said preview. i didn't think i'd feel sympathetic to this character. as joss said, these comics go beyond what was possible physically on tv in part due to no constricting financial budget. but i feel like the medium is starting to take the story to uncharted emotional depths regarding interpersonal relationships. places the story couldn't have gone to if it had remained on the air. i have mixed feelings about this, but for the most part i find it peculiarly brave. interesting to watch and experience...

Actually, it didn't make me think of much beyond "Hmmm... so vampires can grow their hair, and nails (like all previous Buffyverse vamps) here, but not on Angel: After the Fall #5?" It was more of me musing than anything else, please don't pay too much attention to it. I'm hoping #13 steps it up a notch for me, since I (like a minor minority) didn't think that #12 was all that, aside from the farcical humor, which I'll be lying if I said I didn't laugh at. But it didn't strike home with me, and I was expecting a bigger reveal than, you know... shenanigans. PS: Note that I said "minor minority" for not liking it as much for a very specific reason. I get that many people think that it was a move in the wrong direction/a publicity stunt/an out of character development/etc, but I just didn't like the writing much. That's all.

I know Whedon thinks it's hilarious and all but it really hasn't caused many chuckles yet and is actually kind of holding Dawn back from actually being a character in the series. Agreed, but I'm guessing since there are about 28 more issues to go, all in good time. It has occured to be that Willow with her uber-mojo now should probably be able to resize her pronto, but not if there'll be an arc developed for Dawn to explain her super-sizing, and how it's a metaphor for something else. The kid's had to deal with abandonment issues (Joyce, Riley, Buffy, her "dad", Tara, Dark Willow, Spike, Anya, Giles leaving multiple times/etc), and since Whedon has said that he never got to fully flesh out Dawn's story, maybe this is a good avenue to do so. I mean, what better way to get noticed than to stand head and shoulders abover everyone else, in this case, quite literally. Again, conjecture, but I'm being honest about it. I mean, Dawn could just be kept giant for now so that we can get to that ridiculous scenario on the #14 covers. But I do want to see Dawn finally become an actual character. There was potential, even after post-Key magic. My personal favorite Dawn episode, just in terms of content was "Potential". Xander's speech to her at the end could be seen as a double-edged sword... for someone from Xander's perspective (one might even pun, single-sided, although the event had yet to take place), they might be words of wisdom since he is living proof that being amazing doesn't require superpowers. But for someone who feels abandoned already, it might sound like confirmation that her sister will never know/understand her; case in point in The Long Way Home arc. Twopence?

Totally agree about Dawn! Especially now that she's come clean about what happened, it just doesn't make any sense that a witch as powerful as Willow hasn't figured out how to "fix" her yet. The character has always had so much untapped potential in terms of the stories that could be told about her, but nobody has ever really bothered. So many fans still complain about what a whiny little bitca she is, when really, that didn't last past S5. It's just that she got so little attention focused on her after that, that nobody really got the chance to notice that she wasn't whining anymore. She showed in "Grave" (and also when the Bringers attack in "Never Leave Me") that she's got some fightin' pants, and then she shows in S7 that she's a pretty good translator/researcher. It seems like there's a lot that she could bring to the group to help, but instead she's sixty feet tall and sleeping in the barn. Okay, I'm willing to go with it for now, because really, when you take "The Chain" and "No Future For You" out of the equation, there've really only been seven issues so far dedicated to Buffy, Xander, Dawn, and the rest, but at this point it's one of the few things about S8 that I'm really not liking too much (one spot lower on the list than the return of Amy & Warren), and hope it doesn't last too-too much longer...

'Cause so far, she hasn't come clean to anyone but Xander. Awww yeah. Even I had forgotten that it was only Xander who knew the truth, wonder why he hasn't said anything to Willow, Buffy doesn't need to know but tell Willow so she can make Dawn normal sized again which by the way is getting really boring now. Joss only has her as a giant as she has no role on Buffy so he tried to create one for her, giver her a no pun intended BIGGER part in the comic. What I think will happen with Dawn is she will be a giant for 1-2 more arcs. Have a few issues where she gets kidnapped and the scoobies need to rescue her then have her live in the castle for abit doing nothing but "research" then ship her off to University. Buffy will give her some speech about how everything is too dangerous right now for her to be around and would be better/safer at University getting a education. At least thats what I would do..then maybe bring her back as something interesting in a couple of more arcs and say she has trained or learned new fighting sklls magic powers like Willow in season 4 then she would be able to fight-help out be useful. Instead of just screaming for help.

Instead of just screaming for help. Are you talking about Dawn Summers? "Instead of just screaming for help"? Girl pretty much took care of herself in "Potential" better than most people double her size (i.e. Xander). She was the one who came up with the Turkish spell for speaking to the mute/dying. She aided Xander bravely in the climactic battle in the finale of Season 7. Nevermind Season 7, check her out fighting side-by-side with Buffy. And holding her own. Plus, Giant Dawn essentially put a temporary end to Amy's chaotic magic show. It can be argued that it was all in Amy's scheme, but seriously, how many people scheme and plan to get stomped on? Okay, maybe someone like Faith (how she saved Angel in Season 4 of Angel), but not someone who runs away at the first sign of losing (The Long Way Home #4). So, no, I thoroughly disagree with the notion that Dawn's just a whiny kid. She was whiny when she was 14, but there were reasons, beyond pubertal angst. It's unfortunate that her character hasn't been as fleshed out as the rest, but she is afterall a "newcomer" in terms of the core group. So that's addressing one issue. Now for the other. Erm... Dawn confided in Xander because she trusted him. Now, how do you think she'd feel if he went out and just told Willow? Maybe she doesn't want to be downsized yet. Who knows. Kid probably has her reasons. Probably lots of abandonment issues to be working through still, given that her sister pretty much just got herself a whole world full of sisters now who share something deep with her. Probably never a bond as deep as true sisterhood, but something that means a lot to Buffy anyway, and it's something that Dawn will never be a part of. Something that she thought she had for all of one night (again, "Potential"), and then surrendered to yet another girl. Plus, would you rather just have Mini Dawn who will just spout one-liners because there's no substantial plot for her to partake in yet? Someone pointed out, and rightfully so, that even though we're up to #12 right now, minus The Chain, and Faith's arc, we're only 7 issues into the actual storyline. Who knows how long that's actually panning out in Buffyverse. It's a new medium for a series to continue in, and so the "show" is no longer restrained by the annual timeline they used to play with. Besides, downsize Dawn now, and you'll never see Giant Dawn stomping down puny Asians (I reserve the right to say that, since I'm Asian myself). Oh, and since it's Whedon's show anyway, the man can pretty much do whatever he damn chooses. If he loses a few fans in the process, so what? There'll be those that stick around. Some may eventually find something else to get wrapped up in. But it is his show. Sit back and wait for your next issue like the rest of us!

I think that the only female she could confide in was Tara , she was more sympathetic to her than Willow , since she's out of the picture here she could rely on Xan man to keep her secret safe. Besides i always thought of Dawn's character as someone who was needed in the Bverse for she was a pretty neurotic and anger filled teenager , something that was missing from the line up , besides i liked her whining in season 5
