I have 2 theories about who Twillight is. 1) As has been stated, could possibly be Riley... or I was even thinking Pike. why not go back all the way to the begining and involve the first 'boyfriend' Buffy had. I know Joss's style well enough by now to know that Twillight is 100% someone we have seen before... 2) With the speculation on Issue 16 and what we know has occured, basically the Slayer Line being completly activated and out of control, potential time travle occuring, magic all over the place, the Slayers under there own authority.... Why not a male Slayer? Created by the PTB to bring the world back into balance? Hmm... male slayer. Do slayers fly?? nope As for Joss using exclusively people we've seen before, what about all the villains who were introduced explicitly for that season? I can think of The Master, Spike (originally), The Mayor, Adam, Glory... the first five seasons are exclusively that! I see Joss going back to his roots, and creating a new big bad for this season. I like the PTB contention... I brought up earlier that I thought Twilight was an agent of a larger force, I think that larger force is the PTB, now that I know what that is from watching Angel

Maybe he's the result of a match between superman and a slayer -would make a good one shot crossover LOL Now seriously why not him, being female? You say it seems like a cheap trick but if the way they reveal it is fascinating then it would be fab to have such a development in the story. Dawn's arrival could be very corny and cheap but the way they handled the story was brilliant

My vote still goes to Riley = Twilight. It's the only thing that makes sense. My guess is, either Sam turned out to be a Potential, or was killed by an activated Slayer. The Initiative's attitude toward magic was always confused/hostile, and the main reason why RileyxBuffy didn't work out was because he couldn't handle her supernatural nature. Becoming someone like Twilight seems like the logical progression from there...

I'm seeing a lot of speculation that Twilight is Riley... My vote is a respectable nay on that one. Am I alone in thinking that Joss wants us to think its Caleb? The whole "I know that move" and all the anti-female power talk made me quickly think it was Caleb from season 7. Yeah, I know he was cut in half and all, but that means nothing in the Whedonverse...
If Ethan Rayne hadn't been shot in the head, I'd say it was him leeching off of some super-mojo; however, he was a warlock, so if anyone could make themselves appear dead it'd be him. And why was he in a military facility to begin with? What'd they want with him?
I'm also not discounting Giles. Perhaps he knows the scales have tipped too much as of late, and that a proper balance must be restored. As he said in the beginning, there used to be only one slayer and many watchers...
We also know from Fray that the Slayer population doesn't stay in the thousands. Something does happen to take it back to just one.

This is the best issue yet, the only one that reminded me so much of the show with Buffy going out slaying and making puns. Love the talks between Buffy and Xander as well.

I don't want it to be Riley, although if it is done properly then I may come round to the idea. Also, I don't want any more unnecessary resurrections. I've come round to the idea of Warren back and it's great! But I don't want them to overdo it.

I think they will overdue it with the ressurections If my suspisions prove to be correct then another whedonpositive will be created.

I don't want anymore resurrections, but it'd be nice to hear from some dead people. Anya would be a rockin' angel. She'd done the demon thing for a long, long time. She'd be ideal to recruit for the other team.

Resurrections are fun, like Warren for example, that was a nice surprise. Zombie Warren! I just don't want to see dead characters resurrected just to be resurrected. Warren had a point to it because he got revenge on Willow and will most likely be back. Bringing back a dead character just for the reason of seeing them is a bit silly. But, we'll see how it unfolds.

I would be all for a Warren resurrection if only we hadn't seen The First take his form so many times in Season 7. That technically means he did die, which makes his reappearance beyond wrong. Now that he is back though, I would like to see more of him (perhaps he and Amy will become the seasons "Little Bads"?).

Or he and Amy becoming Buffy's little pain in the butt Plus i think that if Joss 's going for another ressurection then its going to be HUGE by all means (consequences, way of doing it, backstory ,etc).

I just posted my theory on Twilight in another post. Here's what I posted: I have several theories about who Twilight is. My first impression was Andrew, which is weird. Sure he has a nerdy persona, but he's been on the Big Bad side before, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch. That idea seems like a bit of a stretch, but just something about it feels right to me. The comment that he made in "A Beatiful Sunset" about his neck itching just seemed so like him. Plus 2 of the slayers that were being taught by him turned bad. Other thoughts I have about who Twilight is are: Riley, Warren (with skin; I kinda doubt this idea though), Graham (Riley's Initiative buddy), Caleb (I know he was split in half but if we know the Buffyverse, we should know by now that anything is possible). The thing that made me think of Warren was Twilight's remark "And always complaining. Just like a girl." As we all know Warren doesn't respect women much at all, so this remark wouldn't be far from what he'd say. But I think I'm reaching there. The remark is also very Caleb. That line Buffy says "Go ahead church me." could be a clue that it is Caleb, since he use to be a preacher. And he's big with the lectures and the talk like Twilight is. And he also seems to know Buffy's moves, "I know that move Slayer", when the scythe is in the same place where Buffy split him in half. lol, once again it seems like a bit of a reach. I see that I'm not alone on the Caleb concept. Which is great -Jess

Well, I was just re-reading this issue and noticed how when Buffy tries to attack via the crotch Twilight says "I know that move, Slayer" so it makes me think it's Caleb. I'd rather it weren't though, because it would be kind of obvious, and IMO Joss brings too many characters back from the dead (Buffy, Angel, Darla, WARREN, Spike, etc). Maybe it's just a reference that whoever Twiglight is has been watching Buffy and what she's been doing, even back in Season 7.

I am still wondering what the words "My first gift will be the last one." mean. The only connection I see here is with Slayer's "Death is my gift" And Twilight promised not to kill Buffy yet. I thinks it is safe to say that Twilight isn't and can't be a Slayer. Does it mean that he only tried to confuse Buffy so his words have no sense?
