Top three have been submitted to IDW! The three top concepts are: 2, 11, and 14!

I liked how this was done this time...where we could vote twice, and we didn't get to see the results until after.

Yeah, i think it makes it easier to vote, that we don't know. it's harder when I have to think "Oh, that poor sould has no votes, what should I do..."

I'm gonna feel bad for #2 if the surprise person isn't Cordy.

This sounds cruel, but I'm hoping the surprise person isn't Cordy. I'm number 11 (and I actually voted for #2 )so it might make this a 50/50 shot. (14's a good concept though).

I wrote #2. I'm surprised that it got that many votes. I wrote that before I read the latest comic that showed Illyria as Fred at the end. But you never know we might actually get Cordy. If not, that's fine too, I love both Fred & Cordy.
The reason I chose Cordy is because seriously that was the first thing that popped into my head after reading the little blurb about Angel seeing someone he thought he'd never see again.
I had voted for #14.

I also doubt the person is Cordy because of the Fred thing, but I did vote for #2 because the concept was just very cool. I mean, first off, Cordy. And secondly, I thought it would work well because of Cordy being all heavenly and LA being a helly. Also voted for #14, very creative.

^That was my other take on the idea. I wanted to show the difference between where Cordelia was and what was happening in LA. I thought about having Fred be all heavenly instead of Cordy, but that wouldn't really work since Fred's soul was supposedly destroyed when Illyria took over her body.

Personally, I think it is Cordy, so I think #2 will be selected - but, it all depends on IDW and what they like. BTW - mine was #10 - about Groo. I struggled coming up with an idea this time around. So, I figured, "what the heck - maybe people would like to see Groo". I am impressed, as always, with the talent contained in our forum membership.

Loved the Groo one, Sagewoman.
Jsebold, as far as Fred's soul being destroyed, Lorne doesn't beleive it has. Nor does the rest of the crew. Or Brian Lynch. He said on Whedonesque (something I've been saying for a while) that just because some dude in a lab coat says someone's soul is destroyed doesn't mean it is. We must have hope!... but not really hope, seeing as Fred is 99.9% the 'mystery person' (not so much a myster any more lol) from #9.
As far as the top three covers, I hope that they use #11. They all would look astonishing, but I'm certain that Cordy will not be in Issue 9. Issue 7, now that's a different story, as she's likely the mystery woman in the continuation of Connor's story.... but I think Fred is for sure the person in peril in Issue 9. I mean.... Issue 5 ends with her in peril, so it'd make sense for Issue 9 to begin with her in peril. As for the #14 entry, it would--like the Cordelia one--LOOK great, but I think there's been a bit too much use of Illyria on the covers. I mean... Angel hasn't been on the cover since #3, and that was his *back* lol. (Which I mentioned in my concept, which was the first! :])
So yeah, I pretty much hope that it's #11 mostly because Angel needs to be on the cover.

^I liked your entry too. I love Groo myself, and I definitely wouldn't mind seeing him on one of the covers sometime.

He's a great character. It would be really interesting to see Mooney give his likeness a shot. I might use him in my concept for #11 (if he's still around)!

With all these great ideas I am wondering when there will be a blank variant cover so fans can actually make their own covers and not just design it. In searching this forum there are tons of artists here who deserve a cover.

I was #14. LOL. I didn't even vote for myself this time and I had two votes! I was like...this one is mine...so which other two souls would I like to give this opportunity??
I was kind of worried about the Cordy one, so I didn't actually vote for it. I liked the idea of somebody new on the cover (like Groo) but I wasn't sure it would be accepted. I guess I try to think ahead without thinking ahead. However, I believe Angel has been on the regular covers...just not ours. Maybe we're trying to give the other characters a chance for fame on the cover, since Angel and Spike usually dominate the regular ones.
I want to see a cover with a completely abtract image...like with no characters, or L.A. in hell as a character itself!

I really liked entry #11...Angel hasn't been front and center on one of our covers for a while and this one sounded like it promised lots of action.

I wonder...if they do not want to reveal that Cordy is going to be in the story (as we do not know yet for sure) if they would decline #2 just to keep it secret until the issue is released. Or they may hold off on announcing the winner until the reveal issue is released.

Don't we already know that Cordy won't be in the story? I mean, Fred was in peril at the end of #5, so it would only make sense for her to be the one in peril during #9. If Cordy was back, we'd have seen her, IMO. I'm expecting to see her in #7 at the end of Connor's story, but not to stay.
Congrats to whoever does win, because that prize package? Hoooooly crap, that stuff is soooo nice!
