I am not sure whether this poll belongs to this thread or not but since it deals with the Satsu controversy, I decided to post it here. Please move the poll if I was wrong.
Personnally I think I would answer Angel because the big return of Angelus hurt many people and caused Jenny Calendar's death. I can't see why so many people are shocked Buffy could have a one-night stand with a girl and can perfectly picture her having sex with vampires, especially with Spike who still didn't have a soul in Season 6.
However I enjoyed her relationship with Spike (except during Season 7). I am voting Riley too as I consider he was a dull character.

She has only had two one-night-stands, Parker and Satsu, and I don't think they ended badly at all. I think it was good for Buffy to learn that men can be heartless. And the Satsu-thing, I haven't read issue 13 yet, but in issue 12 she seemed happy with the sex.
And about Angel, it wasn't a one-night-stand, was it? I mean, they're were in a relationship.
I can't really see any of Buffy's experiences as bad. Buffy was in a dark place in season 6 and needed the release and to punch someone. And admit it, Spike had it coming.
And Riley was the rebound-guy. I think with him, Buffy just wanted someone in her life. Not that she didn't like him, but she was to busy with her life to pay him any real attention(atleast that's what Riley and Xander thought).

Buffy has only had two one night stands and why is Riley up there he was her boyfriend for like a year? But out of the two she has had i would say Satsu was more of a mistake but i dont think either were really that bad the title of the topic and the title of the poll seems to be about two different issues. That got me confused too.

Yes, I admit the subject of my topic is a little tricky. Technically she had three one-night stands. Parker. Satsu. And let's say Angel. His reaction after their night together was typical of a one-night stand, a little like what happened with Parker. But it's just that he had just gone all evil.
Riley and Spike were both long-term relationships but my question is do you think she should have slept with them in the first place. As for Riley it really all comes down to whether you liked the guy or not.
Maybe I should change the way I put my topic.

Spike.
For being "in love" with her, he sure did insult, and make her feel shitty a lot. hm.

I think Parker.
I completely agreed with Sarah when she said to Joss "Buffy wouldn't do this. It's too soon since Angel." I really think in that instance Sarah had a better understanding of Buffy as a character.
That said, I didn't hate the "relationship", it did what Joss wanted it to, show Buffy as a young person who still makes mistakes and is trusting to the point of being a little naive. It humanised her in a way, showing even though she was the Slayer, she was still vulnerable.
I really liked the rest of them. Especially Spike. It was very dark and sadistic.

I realize that my question is a little tricky on another level because we may not like some characters and think their relationship with Buffy was wrong but still it may have been a good thing for Buffy. For example I really didn't like Buffy going out with Riley, it doesn't mean she didn't need him by her side at that time.
What's more, practically nobody seems to think Buffy having sex with Angel was wrong whereas it almost brought the world to the apocalypse. So... think twice!

As character moments, I think they all have meaning and are important, so I think it's good that they all happened.
From Buffy's perspective, Parker was a mistake and a sore learning curve. Nothing wrong with Riley. Spike was a shallow outlet for her own pain, but they developed a special relationship. Buffy used Satsu. Angel was probably the biggest mistake because it lead to a number of deaths and clearly altered Buffy's view of sex from then on, something that I think still resonates now.

I went with Parker and Angel, although sleeping with Spike was pretty bad as well.

I don't think Buffy sleeping with Angel was all that bad, I mean besides the curse. At least she was in love with Angel. The same goes with Riley.

I really think in that instance Sarah had a better understanding of Buffy as a character. . Really? I mean, look at Scott. That happened pretty quickly. And in season 3, Angel dumped her. I think it was in character. She needed a rebound guy. There should be a thread about this.

Well, If they knew that he was going to lose his soul, they wouldn't have done it. So i can't really see that as a bad choice, it just had sideeffects.

Mostly none of these were healthy for Buffy, maybe with the exception for Riley. Angel would go evil, Parker used her, she treated Riley like dirt, used Spike for self-loathing and used Satsu to feel a connection (maybe).

The only boyfriend who treated her well was the only one she treated badly. Well, not completely true. She treated Spike like dirt too but she had an excuse. He didn't have a soul. He was bad news from day one.

Spike was the worst person she could do it with.

But in terms of character development, and for exploring some darker issues, quite possibly the best. Also, sans the hair, he made for some good eye-candy. If only certain objects could have been removed from the set. Damn that set master!

I don't think buffy should have slept with Angel, simply because he killed Jenny Calender and the other men buffy slept with were maybe not so great but atleast no one died because of it.
