Black or gray.
But darker mauve would do just fine. This tpb should definitly have a darker color.
This mauve is not a horrible choice, but the brightness draws attention from the pic.

Probably my least favorite of the three TPB covers, but I still think it's very good! I think the likenesses are amazing, but I'm not a fan of the poses, the background of Tokyo looks great though!

1. Looked for a color that was brighter and more vibrant than the original matte mauve. 2. I just stole the color from the 'HMV' sign and used that for the cover. I like these colors better with the art. I think the first one makes the colors in the art pop.

Mind-reading again. I thought of posting a couple alternatives too. Scary.
The second version is really good Emmie.

You should post them. We could start a poll on which one people like best.

Pretty cool. Definately my least favourite of the three covers... There's something about it that just bugs me...I think it's the lame posing and off-centerness to the characters.... Just looks off. The colour doesn't bug me though. I love that we're getting Jo Chen covers for all the paperbacks even if she doesn't do the covers for the particular issues.... Very very cool.

I like the sky in it...it's ominous yet it doesn't entirely distract from Buff.

You could stick with the mauve, but make it darker and add some sheen/vibrance too it. Well, it'll be printed on glossy paper, so that'll probably fix the matte-ness. I dunno... a darker color may look better I guess. Like black, or a really dark blue... or since we're doing Tokyo here... go crazy and splash on more color. Just mauve... eck... granny bloomers.

I like the cover, but I agree about the mauve. Just doesn't look right with those Tokyo colors.
I don't actually buy the TPB's though, so this isn't really an issue for me. I'm just buying the single issues and then when Season 8 ends I will buy the gigantic TPB that includes every Season 8 issue (which had better be released, and preferably in a hardcover!).

Are these TBPs actually cheaper than buying single issues? I do the single issues too, and at about $3 a pop, that's roughly $15 for 5 books. Don't these TBPs go for higher? The only way I can see if being significantly cheaper is if you buy online, since they overcharge for shipping and handling all the time. This way, you pay once for S&H, instead of 5 times. Care to enlighten me? Not that I'll actually stop buying singles... way too long a wait in between these babies.

No, you're right, if you buy online (like me), then the TPB is actually cheaper, 'cause you save on S&H x5. But I could never wait all those months between TPBs without buying the single issues. Of course, then I buy the TPBs, too, because I like having multiple issues collected under one cover, with no ads... and I'm enough of a "Buffy" geek to want a complete collection: regular issues, variants, TPBs, the works...
