I'm in. I would love to play Vi.
Cowboy, why not put this up with the news, so that anyone who logs onto slayalive could see it? I bet a lot of users would love to play, but have no idea that they can if the vote for it.
Btw, my vote might not have registrered.
I know there are other sites out there who do roleplaying, but I think it would be more fun to do it here, with people I talk Buffy with and not just roleplay with.

Why would people vote NO? I get that many aren't interested and are just being honest, but don't they want us to be happy?

What should we name it? Originally that was the purpose of the "teams/dorms". Everyone would be sorted onto a team, create their own slayer, witch, warlock and RP that everyone went to school together and went on Scooby-esque adventures. I think claiming characters like Buffy herself, or anyone else, etc would not be good. Newcomers to roleplaying might find that unfair. Which is why I think making up your own would be better. It would be like 'Slayer School'

It would be like 'Slayer School' I agree that having everyone claim a Buffyverse character wouldn't really work, unless the board allowed for multiple RP games. If it is just one game, then I think we would have to come up with a stand alone story based within the Buffyverse, where everyone would create their own character. If there is the possibility for multiple games, then I think some leeway could be given to stories based on actual Buffy characters. For instance, if there is a game for an alternate Buffy Season 8 and Angel Season 6, along with original games set within the Buffyverse, then people would be able to play a character that they wanted (could even open up more areas for alternate Buffy/Angel seasons (i.e. alternate Buffy season 1, Angel season 3, etc.). Just depends one how this is going to work. Also, with the possibility of many different RP threads for different stories/games, there would have to be a thread where people could post their ideas for games and help generate interest first before deciding to actually make the game (so that there aren't 10 threads of new games with only 1 post because no one was interested). Perhaps some polling could be used there in some way to see if a number of people wanted to RP in that scenario.

Perhaps you could claim Buffy and the other scoobies one month at a time and then be in a waiting-list? So that everyone gets to play? And you're own created slayer would be forever yours of course(unlewss you want to give it away).
Btw, this section, would it cost money? Because if only a few wants to play, it might not be worth it.

I think it's good not to call the names for the popular established characters (Buffy, Xander, Willow), but maybe have people create their own new slayer character.
I like the Slayer School name.
Is there anyone more familiar with how RPG'ing works? My friends who RP have ST's (Story Tellers) who run the games, have worksheets for the characters (backstory, powers, etc) and create the main plotline for each roleplay interaction. It's all pretty structured and involved creatively.
I think for this Role Playing board to really get off the ground, someone is going to have to step up and make it their pet project.

It's all pretty structured and involved creatively. I have a quite a bit of experience with RPG's in the past. It's been about 5 years since I've done them, but I was really into it for about 5 years. I'm familiar with how they work, setting up rules, character sheets, blah blah. Most of the RPG's I was apart of in the past was over at Yahoo Groups. So there were a message board based RPG, like this would be. Each group was basically one giant message board where people post, which would be similar to threads here. So any insight I can add, I am more than happy to try and help.

Haha no it wouldn't cost anything.
Well I think we can make something like this work, where I can be somewhat involved...here is my idea (take it or leave it, give feedback)
- We can utilize the SlayTeams to what I originally intended them for, and make a full-fledged SlayAlive RP Game. People who want to play, will create a character (preferably a slayer, warlock, witch, demon hunter, or professor) and join an ongoing real-time game. Pretty much do whatever you want within the confines of the story's rules. All characters will exist in a fictional location, living together in a huge school funded by Buffy's fortune. I can help with some of the story-telling aspects, but it would be nice for others to volunteer. Think of this as a Harry Potter type of school set in Buffy's world. With teachers, adventures, big bads, and everything else you can imagine. The main characters of the show would not be playable, but will be mentioned by name.
- We can also have a board for just basic role-playing, using characters in the verse to your discretion. There will be virtually no rules, and no involvement from me in this one.
We can have both, but I am much more excited for the first proposition since it is more story-based.

I can add more to this, if you guys want. That sounds good enough to me, at least a good starting point for the section itself.

I think we can start with Cowboy's slayer school idea, and then move onto other stories.
There should be one section/borad(whatever it's called) for moderated stories with a lot of structure, where only a few can be story-teller, and then there should be another section were we mere mortlas can create our own stories, how free or structured we want.
But for so long, not using the master-characters until we have good rules would be good. I long to create my own slayer, even is she already has an arc.
It would probably be better is there was one story-teller per game, so that the users won't try to Mary Sue.

Sounds good, but are you talking about like a section? Because we will need numerous threads for the RP. We will need one thread for rules, Character Sign Up, one with the list of what you need in your bio((maybe it can go in rules)), and then people would make their own RP threads for people to join. Sound good, Cowboy? Or did you have another idea???
