An interview with Scott Allie by Popculturezoo.com where he discusses what's to come with the Time of Your Life arc. whedon.info/Scott-Allie-About-Comic-Books.htmlPCZ: Staying with Joss Whedon comics, what’s coming up in Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8?
SA: Heartbreak and bloodshed. Some pretty nice surprises in the new arc that starts next month—it’s written by Joss and drawn by Karl Moline, and pits Buffy against Fray, the Slayer from the future that Joss and Karl created a number of years ago. That four-issue story is going to seriously mess with expectations about where this is all going.Huh, so what are these expectations that are going to be messed with? I bet it's probably having to do with the end of magic storyline. Will it end, won't it end...I can't even tell what I expect anymore. What are your expectations that relate to the ToYL arc?

Eh, I'm not at all interested in Fray. Tried reading it. Found it to be boring. VERY unexcited about this arc. Hopefully I won't be too lost and hopefully the main point of bloodshed won't involve Fray characters because I really don't care about them.
I will be very disappointed if they end magic. I doubt they will, Season 8 isn't even half-way through!
On a lighter note, hurrrah for Joss writing!

About messing with expectations: deird1 wrote a great essay on the subject deird1.livejournal.com/67823.htmlETA What if the cover on which they watch Animated!Buffy isn't just a joke? What if they discover that they ended up in a virtual reality?

I think it's going to be something like, all the slayers except Buffy/Faith lose their powers.. and Willow's spell is reversed. That would be going in the opposite direction we expected it to go..

I guess we just have to wait and see. I'm certainly interested in what's going to happen. I love Fray a whole heck of a lot so I am really excited about a Joss/Moline pairing again.

hm...you know, in fray, it says something like that last slayer to be called and her friends were the cause of magic ending...the last slayer to be CALLED was faith...so at some point, Buffy and Faith have to kiss and make up (metaphorically speaking)...
but then again lol there could be some crazy paradoxical stuff going on, because TECHNICALLY, Fray is the last slayer to be called. maybe fray comes back to the past and helps stop the end of magic and such and such. CRAZY.
I mean, c'mon, they'd have TWO scythes and THREE full-power slayers. how could they lose?

Well I quite like not knowing what to expect. I hope that magic doesn't end in the way we "know" it does, from Fray. It makes the story less doomed, and much more interesting. I am eagerly awaiting this upcoming arc like no other!!!! Woot!!

I think it'd be pretty cool if when Buffy got back to present time, it wasn't the same as how she left out, maybe she did something in Fray's time that changed events in her own.

I kinda like the idea of Fray going back in time to be the cause of magic ending.I think that it is something that no-one would expect, but in an odd way, could make sense.I mean, why was Fray called as the slayer after so many years of not having any slayers called? Another thought could be that, while in the future, they figure out that it is actually Faith that ends magic.Perhaps they find out that she had to end it due to Buffy herself going rouge with her slayer army. Then, armed with that knowledge returning to the present,Buffy and Co. attempt to stop it from happening. While I think that either scenario is improbable, either one could explore some interesting aspects of various characters. I'm not sure how doing something in the future could change the present

I seriously wouldn't like it if the new born slayers loose their powers. We know that Buffy, Willow, Kennedy and maybe Vi are going to the future. What if it's Kennedy that brings the end of magic? In my thoughts, I really wouldn't like it if Buffy season 8 is going to end with the end of magic.

In my thoughts, I really wouldn't like it if Buffy season 8 is going to end with the end of magic. I actually think only Buffy goes to the future. Willow, Kennedy and Vi go to Manhattan with B, but from what I understand she's the only one teleported into the future. I think it'll be like "Get It Done" with Willow trying to get Buffy back to their time. I'm really interesting in how Kennedy and Vi fit into this story. They were two of my favourite Potentials from season seven. I would love it if Faith and Giles saved the day. That would be too perfect. Thinking about it, messing with our expectations makes me think that Buffy might be the one to screw herself over and in a sense "betray" herself or her beliefs/integrity. Which she already has a little. With the stealing. A couple of years ago, she would have never stolen money.

Well, the official synopsis of Issue 16 is:
On a hot tip, Buffy and Willow head to Manhattan hoping to unlock the secrets of Buffy's mysterious scythe.....etc etc
And we saw this tip in Issue 15, when Willow had the vision of Saga Vasuki, the Scythe and Manhattan, whilst fighting Kumiko....not saying it is the official intro to TOYL but it is a good segue to say the least

Itd be intresting to see if willow goes into the future to retrieve buffy id love to see frays reaction to such a powerful person as willow, I think it will only be buffy in the future but you never know lol. What do you think the scythe holds in store for them? Good?, Bad? Also do you think fray will stay in the future or do you think she'll come back?? So many questions

I don't think magic is going to die - I mean even in Fray we have a lot of magic ( Slayer, vampires, demons and some mutant humans). Maybe they are going to prevent the death of magic when they come back - find some clues about who the Twilight is

I agree with the bit that magic is probably not gonna go poof... it's always kinds bothered me how magic was supposed to have been wiped off the planet, and yet there were certain remnants here and there. Oh, and the mutant people issue doesn't have to be because of magic... considering the junk we throw everywhere, mutations are happening ALL the time. Loo's missing arm is something that you see a lot in frogs that live in polluted areas.

Loo's missing arm is something that you see a lot in frogs that live in polluted areas. Yeah, exactly. I thought that was actually established in the very first chapter/issue of "Fray": that part of Joss's vision of the future was as an environmentalist's nightmare, with gaping holes in the ozone layer and so forth that caused these kinds of mutations. Remember, Loo and Gunther were called 'radies' (short for radiation).

I don't know what to expect from this arc, but I can't wait to find out. ;D Part 1 was so good!
And now you've pointed it out erik, I can see Willow and Kennedy splitting in this arc. Maybe Kennedy betrays Buffy, therefore betraying Willow. I mean Kennedy had a go at Buffy in Part 1.
