Damn it does sound liken Dru, I was hoping that it wasn't her as I feel she was much better suited on Angel seen as she has a better history over there because of Angel and Spike. Oh well, But I guees it's not 100% yet. I'll wait and see. EDIT: Dark Willow, if this is the mystery character then Willow does achieve immortality and at some point turns evil again and hides out at the time when all the slayers are gone and only Fray and Buffy exst...very interesting and if this is true then it leaves for a very weird relationship with Willow and Buffy back in the present day with Buffy knowing all of this. When will the covers be posted, CBG have you seen them?

I think it's Dru, despite the cover.
I think Willow may go temorarily "dark" while bringing Buffy back, and that's what the cover is depicting.
IDK, I REALLY hope Willow's not the bad of the future.

I've no actual predictions, but what doesn't convince me about your theory is that Buffy looks TERRIFIED in her reflection in Dark Willow's eyes. That, or seriously beaten down. Time will tell...

Well I guess it is Dark Willow.. Hmm I just hope we don't lose the current Willow in the process. I'm thinking this is gonna end with Willow losing her powers... hahahaha

Maybe we'll be able to see better when we get a higher-rez image, but to me she just looks like she's grimacing. For now, I'm gonna agree with Smashed and think that's maybe the depiction of present-day Willow getting Buffy back from the future, and that the woman from the #17 cover is still Dru...

Ooo. Exciting stuff! I love the Willow cover, it looks so real. And the Buffy/eye reflection is awsome. Maybe the really old enemy thats waited years or whatever, is some kind of spirit/essence that takes control of Willow's body to try and use her powers to kill Buffy > Buffy = scared AND worried for Willow...(in the reflection). Dunno. Should be amazing though! I just finished reading 16, and it's really starting to pick up now!

I think the covers were released to set us up, fake us out, whatever you wanna call it. Making Willow the big bad would remind us that she can not die, which would ruin any kind of cliff hanger in the future. Anyway, I doubt they would reveal the big bad in the cover.

So anyway, to be completely random, does anyone think that Georges' rendition of Melaka is much softer than Moline's? It's probably the baby-fat on her face (wow... unintentional pun), but she's definitely less... fiesty(?) looking.

Don't disagree with you... I recently (like in the past few minutes) amended my post by saying that it was either terrified, or just beat down. So, you could be right as to what her expression really is. Kinda not wanting another Dark Willow incident. Slightly beaten road. But oh well... setting my alarm to go off in October.

As of TLWH, she could still die. At least there was the possibility of death, according to the elemental beings in the spirit plane. Whether she's truly immortal or not remains to be seen. There has been a lot of chatter about her relationship (I'm using this in the most inclusive context here) with Saga Vasuki, and hey, according to Scott Allie, there's been at least one thread over here that's predicted something correctly (he didn't say which, coy bugger!), so that's got a pretty good chance of being it.

I'm pretty shocked too... but I still see this as a fakeout. Very seldom do they give away something as big as this on a cover. I'm pretty sure the foe is Dru... but clearly Dark Willow ties in somehow.... Cool cover one way or another.

Maybe if it is Dark Willow, it won't be as cheesy as the season 6 finale! Haha.

It's probably the baby-fat on her face (wow... unintentional pun), but she's definitely less... fiesty(?) looking. I agree--that's part of the reason I was actually hoping Moline would do the variant covers for this arc, in spite of how much I love Jeanty. How cool would a #16 cover have been that was a callback to "Fray" #1, except with both Mel and Buffy on the roof? On the last page of #16, tho, Moline's Mel does look different than when we last saw her. A couple/few years older, so maybe that partly explains how she looks here. I'm disappointed in these only because I was hoping the Buffy/Mel side-by-side (maybe posing, maybe fighting) would be Jo Chen's #19 cover...

Smashed, why do you think that Willow can't die?
:::::::::::::
On the Jo Chen-cover it looks as if Buffy's eyes are closed and that she's tired/beaten. Willow is probably angry and worried for Buffy.
Btw, this might be the cover with the best likeness of all. Cover 9 is a close second. Anyone agree?

Idk,
