Another side-note. While I agree that the PS3, and the 360 are great systems which have amazing graphical capabilities...I think Buffy should be on the Wii. For the motion sensing, and control alone! A good publisher can push the graphics and take advantage of it, if they know what they are doing. Nintendo themselves seem to have it right with upcoming Smash Bros Brawl. Eventually graphics will be out of the equation, and people will only look for innovative gameplay. Wii has that. Can I please remind everyone that a whoile lot of people don't EVER have enough money to purchase something like the Wii, and even those who usually do and would go out and buy it in a second may have some major complications going on right now that will hold them back from buying something that expensive for years and years. A Buffy MMO isn't something we should be fighting for, because it won't happen. That would take too much time, energy, and money that companies just don't have for a tv show that's been off the air this long. It also probably wouldn't sell well at all. We should focus on selling the idea of an adventure game, similar to Chaos Bleeds (except with it NOT sucking, hehehe). Not that Chaos Bleeds sucked, so much...it just...umm....needed a lot of tweaking that it didn't get. The Gameboy advance Buffy game SUCKED!

Not that Chaos Bleeds sucked, so much...it just...umm....needed a lot of tweaking that it didn't get. You say that and yet there is a Firefly MMO in production. Buffy was much more successful than Firefly and has more of a main stream presence than Firefly/Serenity ever will. Yes MMO's are costly, but done right they generate much more income for companies. Especially after WoW broke out companies have been pumping out MMOs left and right. With Joss at the helm of a Buffy MMO we could have a lot more story than just a single "lost episode" and isn't that really the point? EDIT: You also bring up the point that RPGs don't make a lot of money compared to action games, but EA is not the company we're going to market this to. If any company picks up a Buffy game this long after the show's been gone it will be because the publisher and producer are fans of the show and want more out of it, like what UPN did when they picked up the show. Buffy is never going to be a #1 selling game or a cash cow, let's be realistic here.

Actually I want to just market this to Joss himself. He uses more of his brain than I do. I'm sure it wouldn't be a let down. I want him to know that we simply want more games. And if we can help inspire that with our ideas, perfect.
Also, it's good that we discuss this...cause the more different ideas, the better.

A single player RPG would probably cost too much as well. RPG's also don't really sell as well as adventure/action games, I don't think...or at least, not a Buffy one. I'd love a Buffy RPG though, I was working one out with my Nintendo/Xbox friend, but it's just too costly and risky to most companies. It wouldn't cost that much more if at all. The Buffy Wii game you're talking about, with controls like you mentioned, would be built from scratch, whereas there's a huge amount of existing RPG engines around to use. Where's your proof on RPGs vs. Action games sales? The KOTORs I mentioned sold very well. Also, if a "Buffy" RPG specifically wouldn't sell well, what about the sales of a Buffy action game?

Also, it's generally not the creator of a show that goes "Hey, let's make a video game". It's usually a company's idea first. So even if you get Joss to think it's a good idea, it won't go anywhere unless there's a game company out there right now going "Hmm, I want to make a Buffy video game..." Yeah, that's true, like you said, "generally." Game developing companies pitch over a hundred games a year to publishing companies and I can almost guarantee that any publisher won't think twice about a Buffy game right now without Joss backing it when the developer brings it before them. The only chance of a Buffy video game is with Joss's support and a "look what Joss did for Dark Horse's sales" line.

I would love to get to play a new Buffy game. I don't know much about the Wii to know how a game on there would be so I can't give my opinion on that one. However done right a new game would be fantastic. Maybe after they've started coming out with better games for the PS3 in a couple years that could work.

Joss came to the forum and read the thread! But he didn't say anything. How ya know that? Id love there to be another game. I don't see why they didn't make anymore sooner really. I think they could make so many and they still wouldn't get boring because theres so much to do with Buffy they wouldn't run our of ideas.

Here's a suggestion. Let Vivendi Games know we want another Buffy game! They developed and published Choas Bleeds, which sold more than the first Buffy game as it was multi-platform! They are working on a multi-platform Ghostbusters game that looks amazing! Also, the company merged to be a part of Activision, a major publisher! Contact Here!Take five minutes and let them know you really want a Buffy game. Tell them what system you most desire it for! Let's try and make this happen! Money talks and if they think there's a market for a Buffy game, they'd contact Fox, etc to try and get it going! Sign our actual petition here: Click Here!

Yay, people are actually signing the petition. There were 235 votes by the time I added on, OMG!!! Yeah, I agree 100% with Mikey about them upping their game on controls and the fighting sequences. That was the good thing about the Collective, they had theor own fighting engine which was just amazing in the first game.

Chaos Bleeds was a cheap rehash of the original. I too hope they step up for Buffy 3 if it ever were to happen.

I'll be happy if we get a game that's worse then Chaos Bleeds. I'm desperate.

I am playing the first Buffy game for the first time right now and I LOVE it! I've contacted the company that did Chaos Bleeds and I was signature 521 on the petition.

If they ever do make this they HAVE to remember that Buffy isn't a solo character show. BTVS is an ensemble show, we want more main playable characters than Buffy. (which was a big drawback of the first game) The extra playable characters were poo/pointless in Chaos Bleeds. Faith and Spike were basically Buffy again but no harm in that. Sid had like 2 attacks. Willow was understandebly weak with about 4 repetive spells to use - absolutely dull. Xander was just a poor fighter (and since when was he a weapons expert anyway?) I think the first game kept the fighting more interesting than the second one did, what with the tighter fights, more interactive environments, demons that die in different ways, and the speciallist weapon introduced (reaper = cool). I'm all for different playable characters but only if it makes sense and isn't at the expense of the fighting itself which it apparently was last time around. Co-op would be the facking nuts though *nods*

The one thing I disliked about Chaos Bleeds was how easy the vampires were. Xander and Willow kill like 50 in one level. There was also way too many of them. It's one of the reason why I liked the first one better. The vampires were harder and there wasn't as many as them. You actually had to fight to kill them. Whereas in Chaos Bleeds it was *punch* *punch* *kick* *dust*, here comes four more.
I liked playing as different characters, but it was just too unrealistic.

^ Yeah pretty much.
In the first game I remember more often killing vamps in interesting ways. I actually had fun with that aspect; chucking one into a passing train or a sunlit area. You couldn't even decapitate them in CB, just randomly stab them into dust.

I'm all for a new, next-gen Buffy title. I don't really mind what system it would appear on (although preferably Wii or PS3). I'd also like to see an RPG come out for the DS.

Let me make myself clear on this: I will still buy the game if it's on PS3, Wii, or 360, but I'll probably never play it because I'm not putting that kind of money down. Especially if it's just another action adventure game.
If they make it for PS2, Nintendo DS, PC, or PSP *I'd be willing to buy a PSP for Buffy* then I'd play it. If it were for a MMO, I would buy a new system to play. But if it's just going to be another Chaos Bleeds, I might buy a game I don't own a system to for fandom solidarity, but I won't buy the system to play it.
I would definitely buy a new Buffy game. I would almost certainly play it if it's good and platform friendly. But I'm not going to buy a $300 system to play a reformatted Chaos Bleeds. I don't care for action games. I like RPGs (Final Fantasy), MMOs (Diablo 2/WoW), strategy games (Age of Empires), and life/evolution/ecosystem sims (The Creatures Trilogy, The Sims, that new thing coming out this year for the DS).
You'll get my money either way, but if you make the product, I hope it's a quality, accessible one.
The Firefly one is certainly going to get my money, and my monthy fee if it comes to it.
