I just think that Willow's out of luck for the fashionable clothes. She does have some good choices in S7, but that's about where it stops. I do think that it was necessary to really establish that it was Willow, as some of the characters could've been mistaken for others(some look like others in comic form at times(Kennedy, Dawn, Willow). I think that it was a nod to Tara and just when she dressed like a medieval person, and to just establish some familiarity for the fans, to make them feel comfortable reading the comics.

She needs to go through her closet and make some strong choices.

I wonder if that was just an artist's slip...

I was just about to post in here about Willow's overalls in Issue 21. It's like she's back to who she always was. I like it. I didn't care too much for all the long skirts and other stereotypical stuff that she wore in the last few seasons. This could give fans of the nerdy, innocent Willow hope. I don't think there could be really huge artistic mistakes. Joss watches the art as well as the writing. Even Buffy's nurse dream had to be drawn a certain way.
