Hey, I just wanted to know when the comics take place... like before the film, after or after the show...

"Better days" is set after the tv show and before the movie. Can't remember about "Those left behind."
I think it's the same. Check wikipedia.

They're both set before the movie.
I didn't really like either of them, sadly.

The three-shot Shepherd Book project was confirmed by Allie at SDCC '09, as well as a yet untitled one-shot by Patton Oswald, who did some work on Dollhouse. CLICK to be directed to the source. EDIT: The one-shot by Oswald will be about Wash. Here's the source.

AICN has an interview with Ron Glass (Shepherd Book) HERE. Spoilerish details about the plot (in very vague terms). As for the staff: The Brothers Whedon (well, two of them, Joss and Zack) will be writing this (soon-to-be-cult-revered) masterpiece, with Chris Samnee doing the art. The interview includes a look at some pages of Samnee's sketchbook, and I must say that it looks delish.

Finally! Can't wait! Interesting tidbit about the identity-theft thing. I think that a lot of people (by which I mean me and all my imaginary friends ) had thought he had a past similar to the Operative--a former top government agent who became disillusioned. But now it sounds like he could just as easily be some kind of ex-criminal.

Book could've become one of my favourite characters in Firefly if the show got a few more seasons. He's one of my least favourites, but I am still incredibly excited. I can't wait to find out about his past.
And those sketches are wonderful!

Apparently, this is a good week for Firefly fans, in terms of info about the upcoming projects. CBR has an interview with Scott Allie and Chris Samnee HERE with some details about "Serenity: A Shepherd's Tale". As of now, it's scheduled for a November release, and collectors can rejoice, since this graphic novel will be released in hardback! Samples of Chris' work can be found HERE... his deviantart page is linked on his blog. Also in the interview, (and the one linked in the previous post) the artist for the Wash one-shot is revealed to be Patric Reynolds. You can check out his stuff HERE.

Excellent. Should all Firefly related comics be discussed here or will we have posts for each project?

More goodies. Patton Oswalt Q&A with Techland HERE about his work on the Wash one-shot. Excellent. Should all Firefly related comics be discussed here or will we have posts for each project? I think as we get more info, we can start up separate threads for the upcoming works. This is just a convenient dumping ground for us for now.

Comics Alliance interview with Patric Reynold's HERE. He's the guy who will be illustrating the Wash one-shot. Some sample art, kinda sketchbook stuff, but he draws a mean Zoe. And by that, I mean, sheer badassery ensues. And I like his take on Wash. The likeness is there, but there's his own spin on it, which is something I really appreciate.

so psyched for these and all the art previews looked fab. i've enjoyed the firefly/serenity comics so far (especially Better Days which really added to the series) and these look like being the cream of the crop
