I just got both of these movies. They were released on January 6th.
Here's a brief synopsis of each:
THE ALPHABET KILLER (based on a true story) stars Eliza Dushku as police detective Megan Paige. A ten year old girl is found brutally murdered outside of Rochester, New York. Obsessed detective Paige suffers a mental breakdown while trying to solve the crime. The child-killings resume two years later. Megan's return to the investigation also brings back her own horrific hallucinations. Will she hang onto her sanity long enough to catch a psychopath?
GHOST WRITER stars David Boreanaz as aspiring author Sebastian. There's no such thing as going too far for John (Alan Cumming), a control-freak music teacher obssessed with his handsome lodger Sebastian. When Sebastian threatens to leave, John is driven to punish the writer. Then, after a literary agent comes calling, John hatches a plot to find the fame and fortune he craves.
Both movies were definately enjoyable. GHOST WRITER is a pretty dark comedy (at least, I thought it was humorous). Boreanaz was great. THE ALPHABET KILLER was a fun ride. Not the best movie, but it was very well directed and acted. Great to see Eliza Dushku headlining a movie!

I've rented both of these movies before and, frankly, I just hated Ghost Writer. I felt it was very contrived. The Alphabet Killer was actually ok, though. Nothing spectacual, but E.D. Was pretty good in it. I can't wait to see The Alphabet Killer, because it sounded good. But since I know that Eliza Dushku will be topless for a scene, I will skip that part because it feels disrespectful to me, and I also don't want to have that image flash into my mind every time Eliza is brought up. I suppose I can understand not wanting that image popping into your head every time you pop in Buffy season three, but I'm having trouble understanding how her nude scene could be considered disrespectful. She chose to do this movie and let the world see her that way if they wanted to, so it's not like a violation.

The topless scene isn't even that big a deal. You see one of her breasts briefly as she's putting on a shirt. It's not distasteful in anyway.
