She's just really really cheesy to me; I think I dislike her because I know alot of girls who watched the first 3 Seasons of Buffy and suddenly think they're Faith. Willow covered it well enough; "She's like this cleavagy slut-bomb walking around 'Ooh, check me out, I'm wicked-cool, I'm five-by-five." Eeep don't hate me Oh by the way, how to get more "B"'s and climb the rank ladder?

Eeep don't hate me Oh by the way, how to get more "B"'s and climb the rank ladder? But it becomes very clear in the series though that all that bravado is superficial and Faith is more vulnerable than any of the characters. I used to dislike Faith. My attitude of her pretty much matched Willow's; she was up herself and annoying. However, upon rewatching the series, I've coming to realise that Faith is a fascinating character and she has so many layers under all the "I'm a bad girl" bullshit. I started to warm to her after her breakdown in "Who Are You?" and fell in love with her completely after reading Go Ask Malice. She definitely deserves her rep as one of the 'verse's best characters. Um, I think you just have to make more posts? I became a "Common Vampire" at my 50th post and then "Novice Witch" at 100. Am I right?

Scott Allie just released the title of this issue, "Safe", in our ongoing Q&A, so I thought I'd open up the original discussion thread for this issue. This issue features the return of Faith and Giles as written by Jim Krueger. Cliff Richards returns as guest artist for this one-shot. Cover(s): (click for HQ Chen cover) Written by Jim Krueger, penciled by Cliff Richards, inked by Andy Owens, colored by Michelle Madsen, covers by Jo Chen and Georges Jeanty. Faith. Giles. Let's catch up!
In a one-shot issue, Krueger fleshes out the go-to girl for dirty deeds, Faith, and her new partner, Giles. After her last thankless escapade, where she put a stop to Buffy-hunting Slayer and kindred spirit Lady Gigi, Faith decided that though she's determined to be finished with bloodshed, she's not ready to leave misguided Slayers (like Gigi) with nowhere to turn. Fast-forward to the present . . . bloodshed still abounds, and the Faith-and-Giles team is still finding out what it really means to help those chosen to slay . . .
40 pages, $2.99, in stores on April 1.
Yes! I was hoping that Faith and Giles would get more face time. Personally, I'm still a little stunned that Buffy's apparently cut her 'father figure' Giles out of her life. Especially as I just watched 'Something Blue' and got a dose of 'real family'. I hope the story stays on Faith and Giles, and is devoted less to Buffy's centered on herself complex.

I am very much looking forward to this issue. I've always liked Faith. Curious to see how things with her and Giles are working out.

Thanks for the link! That's a really interesting premise, and I can't wait to see it in its entirety. Plus, more of Faith and Giles doing what they do now.

Great interview, I can't wait for this issue. It really is a shame we haven't seen Giles and Faith in over a year.
The Slayer Sanctuary sounds great. I wonder what the situation will be like there (refugee camp?), and how Faith and Giles will be involved.

Yes, very good read. What does bedmates mean though? I know he isn't meaning it sexually but does it just mean they make good partners?

Well.... the TFAW ad that sometimes shows up here says: "Get the real story behind Giles and Faith's hookup." But yeah, I bet it means partners..... or I hope it does... This Slayer Sanctuary thing sounds very interesting. Can't wait to find out more about it.

Probably not but I am waiting for that to show up.

Faith/Giles would be too creepy for me to accept! I know Faith has a 'daddy-complex' but I would expect that Giles would know better!
For shame if it's true!!

The Slayer Sanctuary is an absolutely inspired idea. And I never even thought about the ramifications of it being harder to be a slayer right now and how it would make girls want to quit. Haha, this is why I'm not a writer for Season 8! I'm too busy chewing the story they've already given me to think about where to take it next. I'm very excited for this issue.
Does anyone else feel slightly bad for Buffy? I feel jealous of Giles an Faith's new closeness on her behalf.

Does anyone else feel slightly bad for Buffy? I feel jealous of Giles an Faith's new closeness on her behalf. Nah, not really and she's my favourite character! Buffy seems to have cut Giles off, so what does she really expect him to do? It's interesting that you guys seem very certain that no Giles/Faith hook-up is going to happen, over on Buffyforums we've had a huge debate about it, with practically me being the only one who wouldn't completely hate it! I’d still prefer a platonic relationship though. The general attitudes seem to be "gross he's so much older than her!" "how dare he do this to Buffy, he doesn't care about her at all!" and "he's worse than Hank now.." I'd pretty much answer; 1) In 'Faith, Hope & Trick' Faith has already proven Giles' age isn't a issue for her, "if I knew they came this young and cute I would have requested a transfer!" and it's nothing compared to Buffy dating centuries older vampires or Xander dating a 1000 year old demon. And in terms of maturity Krueger is right, Faith is having to be “better than she ever was” and Giles is still picking up the pieces after his regression of late so they’re pretty much equals. “Partners” in fact as stated in ‘NFFY.’ 2) Giles has a hard time creating a bond with people, he considers it a near statistical impossibility if we believe what he says in ‘Flooded’ and Krueger makes a pretty good case as to why he can connect with Faith. Buffy has cut Giles off so why should Giles have to take into account a girl who gives the impression she wants nothing to do with him when deciding if he wants to act on that bond? As far as he’s aware he no longer has a relationship with Buffy in any capacity in the near foreseeable future so he certainly shouldn’t plan his life and risk loosing that bond if it truly makes him happy over a girl who’s cut him out of her life completely. Besides, Buffy knew how much sleeping with Spike would hurt Xander but did it anyway, Willow knows how much sleeping with Saga Vasuki will hurt Kennedy or she wouldn't have had reassured her that she loves her in 'Time of Your Life' in case she found out, so it's double standards to be extra harsh on Giles here. 3) Hooking up with Faith isn't worse than not contacting or helping your daughters when their mother has died... Or makes Hank any better, if it’s the age think, I’m guessing his secretary he ran off to Spain with wasn’t some crippled old lady

Buffy seems to have cut Giles off, so what does she really expect him to do? Nah, disagree. The first few issues we have Buffy trying to get in touch with Giles and being told he's not responding from Xander. Then Buffy gets beamed up by Roden and attacked by Gigi and then Faith, only to find that Faith and Giles have been playing around with wetworks and undercover games that Buffy has no idea about. And considering Buffy is the organizational head of the Slayer organization, being kept out of the loop here really isn't fair. There's been nothing to suggest that Buffy has cut off Giles. I'd be interested to hear what scene or development you're interpreting as showing that. It's interesting that you guys seem very certain that no Giles/Faith hook-up is going to happen, over on Buffyforums we've had a huge debate about it, with practically me being the only one who wouldn't completely hate it! Could the Slayer Sanctuary be the very same place where Fray makes her home in the distant future? That would be something!!
Sorry, but a Giles/Faith pairing would be too much. He suggested a partnership at the very end of NFFY. How that would have devolved into a sexual relationship would be beyond me. What Giles offered her in NFFY was more than a sexual relationship/boyfriend. Beyond being someone's mentor. He offered her something she has never had: a friend, a partner, someone who would work with her as an equal. Adding a sexual side to a relationship like that would be no good.

And considering Buffy is the organizational head of the Slayer organization, being kept out of the loop here really isn't fair. I agree there's two sides of this but the impression I got is that Buffy's the one who has now ceased communication. Though really I think Buffy hasn't been fair to Giles since at least season seven where IMO, she basically forced his hand into going behind her back in 'LMPTM' because she was refused to even talk in a sensible, calm fashion with him about Giles’ *legitimate* concerns regarding Spike. It says so- in the prologue for 'Wolves At The Gate' it says "Buffy has cut Giles off." And I thought it was rather obvious by what Giles says to Faith at the end of 'No Future For You' "I'm afraid I wouldn't know, Buffy and I aren't on speaking terms at the moment." Sorry, but a Giles/Faith pairing would be too much. I won't comment on it fully until I see it, *if* it happens. I think it could either work or really not work depending on how it is written. A sexual relationship doesn't automatically lessen any of the positive aspects you already mentioned, in fact having a sexual relationship with someone who's Faith's friend, her partner and who treats her as an equal is a positive development for Faith in that department, something Wood didn't live up to it seems. Beside she already has a friend! Angel!

Sometimes I think everyone in the Buffyverse is going to have sex with everyone else in the Buffyverse before this season is over... if even a fraction of the speculation turns out to be true.
I didn't see even the slightest flicker of sexual or romantic interest between Faith and Giles in NFFY.
