Too cool for a custom title. Wait...

I agree, Angel is damn fine... but I loved him more evil. There are no words for how much I enjoyed Angelus in the latter half of Season 2.
And you know, he can draw. The fact that he can draw makes me gush.

The Angel quote, "We should live as if the world is as it should be", can anyone tell me which ep it's from so I can quote it correctly.

That is part of Angel's speech to Connor before throwing him out of the hotel in Deep Down - i think! What are you quoting it for?!?! *curious* ETA: Just double checked the transcript...definitely Deep Down

I'm writing a book and want to quote angel.
But I'm pretty sure this book won't ever be done, might not even survive to be a short story.

I can’t join in on the DB drooling (straight guy here) but I think Angel’s awesome, he’s one of my favourite characters.
I think Angel is the character the writers use as a way to be brutally honest about humanity. Wether it be our flaws or our virtues, they explore it through his character and use him as a tool to confront those issues. In many ways that probably makes him the most human character of them all, which is ironic given his vampirism. They never shy away from portraying the ugly truth to his actions, just look at how much they focus on Angel’s near torture of Linwood in comparison to Spike’s torture of the doctor, or Wes’ torture of the human/machine cyborg. Spike and Wes’ actions were just a passing comment or moment, when Angel does it, it’s focused on and has a whole scene devoted to it. It always makes him so much more interesting to me, even if it means he usually gets more flack from the fans. He’s easily the most complex character in the Buffyverse for me.
There’s so many things I love about the character that I don’t even know where to begin. I love how he always goes that one extra step in helping his helpless. It isn’t simply about saving them from the monster then walking away, he gets into their lives and connects with them. I love how in ‘I Fall to Pieces’ he helps the woman overcome and stand up to her stalker, or in ‘In the Dark’ when he helps the woman over her insecurities and talks her out of nearly taking back her abusive boyfriend back. Or what about Faith? The way he’s able to turn the cheek after she tries to kill him and the way in which he helps her is a highlight of his character’s time in the verse.
I also really respect how he always takes responsibility for his actions. Some say he’s too hard on himself but it’s a very endearing quality to me. He’ll never shy away from owning up to his actions wether they be good or bad and I love how he says sorry to Holtz even after the guy stole his son. It’s such an amazing moment for me, it shows what kind of person Angel is.
Plus ya know he’s a terribly selfless character who thinks outwards about others instead of inwards about himself. The way he broke up with Buffy so she could have more opportunities in life, the way he gave back his humanity because the world needed him to be their champion, the way he was willing to give up his own life so Darla could have a second shot at hers, the way he gave up Connor and gave him the childhood memories he never got even if meant working for Wolfram and Hart.. It all shows how he’s a very noble, good caring guy.
I liked Angel from ‘Welcome to the Hellmouth’ right to the final pages of ‘After the Fall.’ I can’t see myself ever not loving his character anymore.

I love both sides of Angel...him AND Angelus. Mostly because I think David is an amazingly talented guy. I want Angel to be my snuggle bunny. And if I happen to get Angelus instead, oh well. I'll deal.

I think this is very interesting. I've never really thought Angel quite that way before. I usually think of it in more extreme terms, as him being an example of the best and worst in us and it makes you wonder why him? What made him SO evil and then what made him be good? He didn't have to become good. Lots of people live with guilt and just allow themselves to be thought of and think of themselves as horrible.
I do feel like he's definitely operating in a gray area, where you don't always know what's right and wrong and if what he's doing is right and wrong, but he's strong and he "owns up" as you said. That's very unique and something that makes me very much appreciate a character. It also makes him very brave.
I also love that he related to and wanted so badly to help Faith. He did help her, he probably saved her life and the lives of many others by doing so because she was on a war path.
