[/li][li] What if there's an impromptu reunion with the Slayer while I'm away?[/quote] Aw, really? That was a con? Well, I guess that shows his reluctance to meet up with Buffy again. It's just, when has Spike been good at avoiding someone he's in love with? Is he *that* afraid of seeing her again? Or is he afraid that she really didn't love him during those final moments of Chosen and he wants to live with the hope that she really meant it rather than getting his heart broken? Or, or, or...heh, so many possibilities. But honestly, when is Spike hesitant about his feelings? He's the one who follows his heart, no-holds-barred, like a bulldozer against all obstacles. It just strikes me as sad and a little pathetic that he's so reticent about seeing her or her even knowing he's alive. Seems like he's taking a page from Buffy's book and playing the avoid-y card. Which is very not-Spike. It makes me wonder if the writers playing the avoid-y card with the Angel/Spike/Buffy issue is trickling down to shape Spike's attitude. There's the "James, we don't know what to do with your character, except we want you to die at the end" Joss-speech (around the time they were filming Beneath You), but A) it wasn't mentioned in PaleyFest, and B) Spike ended up getting one of the very few juicy arcs in Season 7 anyway, so I don't see how it's relevant. Well, I'm not really arguing the point because A) it's not my point and B) I'm not sure what the point was. Just saying something was said about not knowing what to do with Spike during season 7. There definitely was a "we're winging it" feel to Spike's arc during the first half of the season. Like you, I think the Shanshu is more essential to Angel than Buffy is, and Buffy is more essential to Spike than the Shanshu is, so that's how I'd go about resolving this storyline, again from a purely Angelverse perspective. (Which probably means that Joss is more likely to have Spike Shanshu and Angel end up with Buffy, LOL. ;]) Just goes to show how talented we are at predicting the storylines. So if we just guess the opposite of what we think will happen, then we'll actually know. Unless the writers know that we're gonna do the opposite. But then if we know that they know that we know...Yeah, I'm sticking with the "wait and see" policy. Angel/Buffy/Spike three-way relationship is still the best of both worlds, though. xP Again, there are some awesome fics illustrating that...well, not illustrating 'cause they didn't draw a picture. Although there is some nice fanart to that effect. Here's two pieces of fanfiction on the Buffy/Angel/Spike dilemma: Cliffhanger by Rabid RaeannBuffy comes to L.A. to see Angel and he tries to keep her from seeing Spike. Beg To Differ by Rabid RaeannSequel to Cliffhanger, PWP, explores S/B/A Post- Chosen.

Or is he afraid that she really didn't love him during those final moments of Chosen and he wants to live with the hope that she really meant it rather than getting his heart broken? Or, or, or...heh, so many possibilities. You should read: 34 Reasons I Never Called You by AnarossSummary: A list of excuses from Spike. Rating: PG But that's just the very convincing "fanwank" (more convincing than what they sold us in Harm's Way, at any rate, which made so little sense that even James was phoning in his speech there xP). The real reason is, of course, meta-textual, like you pointed out ("It makes me wonder if the writers playing the avoid-y card with the Angel/Spike/Buffy issue is trickling down to shape Spike's attitude"). I read the first one, and it's squeeeee-worthy! Gonna read the sequel this week, probably. Do you guys think Spike and Buffy will ever be an actual couple? No, unless Joss pulls a Dawson's Creek and has her end up with Spike while simultaneously confirming that Angel is her soulmate, or something. (Funnily enough, Spike has actually been compared to Pacey within the series -- "Oh, Pacey, you blind idiot, can't you see she doesn't love you?" -- and Angel to Dawson -- "Are you gonna come here and go all Dawson on me every time I have a boyfriend?") But in general, I don't have high hopes for happy endings in Joss's 'shipland, and I'm used to that. Awsm new Spike/Buffy music video: The Walk by AlyNotes: This is my first Spike/Buffy video. I literally just finished the show, and was compelled to make this. They're just such a gorgeous pairing. This is also one of my favorite videos I've ever made, if not the favorite. It's between this and Breathe, but I just really enjoyed making this one. I'm not even tired of the song, which I usually am after making a video. [...] Song: The Walk - Imogen Heap

This thread is now my home, lol! Would've posted here sooner, naturally, but I've not been on the forums for a while due to college work! And no, chances are they won't become an actual couple, but you never know! I still hope the do though, lol. Yay for Spuffy! <3

*pouncehugs Spike's Slayer!* Have you guys seen THIS interview yet? Joss is my Master and icafreak is a fandom-saint. Jeff: So when did you realize that Spike was more than just a villain? Joss: Pretty much when James Marsters auditioned for it. Um, Spike was ya know, Spike was somebody that I loved conceptually and then ya know, James just brought and then kept on bringin'. So, it just, it was a pretty gradual process but it was always happening. Jeff: A unique transition in that character from just a villain to almost the typical anti-hero. And yet never completely there. Joss: Well, as a villain he was, ya know the Master that we started with was a straight up villain like, his belief system was just evil. And what was fun about Spike was, I said okay great and, and Mark, Mark Metcalf did a wonderful job, but now we need a villain who, that we can relate to in the way that we're relating to our other people, so that thematically they can become useful. So to introduce this guy who is clearly "oh I'm such a bad ass" and then have him very tenderly in love with another vampire, so from the very beginning the idea was well he's not just, ya know a cardboard. He's, he's, he's gonna have levels to play. Um, how many I didn't at the time realize, but ah, in a way he, he really didn't change that much. Ah, he's a character that I always liked a little bit more than Angel because -- Jeff: He's got more of an edge. Joss: He was more evolved, though. He had more of an edge, but at the same time ya know he was, ya know he chose to have a soul. Jeff: Sure. Joss: Ya know he ah, he learned from his mistakes and he um, Angel was kinda the classic Lestat puffy shirt, ya know... Jeff: Right. Joss: Um, and ah, and Spike was sort of the new mod rebellion against that, so I ah, I like that character. I always, I always thought he was a good guy even when he was a bad guy. Jeff: Bad boy though, chicks love bad boys. Joss: They do, they do. If they loved bad dancers the way they loved bad boys I would have been like, whoo. Jeff: You would have been writing that. Joss: Oh yeah. Jeff: So it was an easy decision to bring him from Buffy over to Angel. Joss: Um, the WB said they would not renew Angel unless we brought him over, so yeah it was a very easy decision. Jeff: Really? Oh. Joss: Um, and it was also an easy decision creatively, yes. We were, it was, and the best decision because we had a great ensemble on Angel um, but Spike and Angel's history meant that he and David played off each other in a way that nobody could, male or female and, ya know, David some of his best work because he was in the room with James and Spike and Angel just... you think it's a banjo act and a banjo act but it's really not, they're so different. Jeff: Instant conflict and yet great comedic moments. Joss: Yeah. The two of them were so funny together. We've got Jeff answering questions on Dark Horse forums' Spike/Buffy Appreciation Thread, too, so pass by if you want to ask him anything about the interview.

*Sends a pouncehug back!* Thanks for posting this interview Enisy!, it was uplifting to know that Joss likes the character of Spike much more than I thought I did there's hope yet! lol. "he's a character that I always liked a little bit more than Angel" "the WB said they would not renew Angel unless we brought him over, so yeah it was a very easy decision." Thank you Joss <3

Jeff: Instant conflict and yet great comedic moments. Joss: Yeah. The two of them were so funny together. Nice one. I totally knew it too! Angel is kinda boring IMO, the whole Lestat angle is very accurate for Angel though. Am I wrong to think he is one-trick pony-ish? I mean, his soul is forced upon him after all...and one can only be tortured so much, before it becomes too much(?) No? I think that is why I have a hard time reading After the Fall. I've sort of lost interest in Angel himself. Still he is hot in his broody ways. ..I knew Joss liked Spike better. You can tell! He is more fun anyway methinks.

Don't want to hi-jack this thread to talk about Angel (I think it'll just give others a reason to bash me, personally) but I do think that Angel is outshined by the other characters in his own show alot of the time.
I semi-regard Season 5 (of AtS) to be 'The Spike Show' as much of watching that season was me waiting to see Spike's scenes. Having James signed on for that season made it 100 times more 'must see tv' for me. I viewed it weekly unspoiled so I always hoped for some reference to Buffy, Spuffy, Sunnydale, etc. It didn't happen often, but when it did I loved it. Plus I really dig the chemistry between James and David. It was a shame that Buffy always had to be played by a body double.
Anyway back on topic, I could have sworn that the 'we didn't know what to do with James' comment was in the PaleyFest reunion. Guess I was wrong about that.

OMG! Emmie!
I forgot about this thread until someone mentioned it again on another board and I popped over to check it out.
I just read Beg to Differ that you linked in your post above.
That was the best, funniest, most satisfying, in character threesome fic I have ever read!
And I thought I had read them all. Hilarious!
Thanks for the link!

Eeeeeeee, CowboyGuy, you're the awesomest! Seriously, thank you so much. *huggles* And thankee for the wallpapers, Jsebold! Cool interview, you should post this on Whedonverse. Pimp it out. That excerpt is really only relevant to Spike/Spuffy/Spangel fans. I've ordered the DVD, and when I get it, I'll try to transcribe the whole interview and link it on Whedonesque. I will NEVER be a Spuffy fan ... but I would have like more Anya and Spike ... and Spike and Harm but I will always be a fan of Spike and Dru!!! Then what are you doing in this thread? What interests me about that Joss Whedon interview, by the way, is... if he likes Spike better than Angel, then who was he sympathising with the most in "versus" situations, like Chosen and Destiny?

What interests me about that Joss Whedon interview, by the way, is... if he likes Spike better than Angel, then who was he sympathising with the most in "versus" situations, like Chosen and Destiny? I appreciate that you didn't immediately assume that he would be on Spike's side, even tough you say he likes Spike more(I haven't read/heard the interview you speak of). Because it's a sign of healthy fan-ism/fan-stuff/fanaticsm/fandom, that even tough one might generally prefer one character, one might not always side with that character in every situation. Just something that occurred to me.
